We had a wonderful day for our Angel Babies walk at Woodward park. It was wonderful to see so many families who faced the same kind of tragic loss of a baby come together for support and healing. We all had a wonderful time and plan to make this a lifelong event for us. Next year, I would like to run the 5K. Kevin, Stephanie,Rebecca and Aaron all completed the run and the grandchildren all did various lengths of runs too! I want to thank all those who supported us that day either by participating with us or in your thoughts and prayers.

7th Annual Angel Babies Walk/Run - Hinds Hospice

7th Annual Angel Babies Walk/Run - Hinds Hospice

On May 7th Angel Babies is going to host a walk-run event at Woodward Park.  I will be doing the 2 mile walk starting at 8:00 A.M.  I would like to invite any of you who would like to participate to go to the site listed above and sign up for Kevin and Stephanie's team.... Team Liam.  Angel Babies is a non-profit organization which is incredibly essential to those families who are going through the unthinkable situation of preparing for a baby that will have a life limiting condition.  They also assist those who have stillborn babies or those whose babies who die in the womb.  All proceeds will go to Angel Babies which does not charge one penny for their services, so this is an important fund raiser for them.

We Were Going To Have A Baby, But We Had An Angel Instead

Kevin and Stephanie's precious little Liam Thomas Ryan was born January 25, 2011.  He returned to Heavenly Father January 26, 2011.  We will always be grateful for this little angel sent to us from Heaven above and for his tiny brief whisper of life.  During the miraculous 28 hours that he spent with us, he was surrounded by those who loved him and we will forever have that love etched on our hearts.  I am thankful that families can be together forever and someday we will be with our little Liam again.
There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint on the world.

Isaac A.K.A. Flipper!

This week Isaac had his first swim meet.  What a little dolphin he is!  He sped through the water in his two events, freestyle and backstroke!  He is a chip off Grandma's proverbial block as backstroke is his favorite and his best stroke in both style and speed.  I look forward to the next meet where we'll again get to see him gliding through the water, and just like Flipper, faster than lightning!

Way to go Rebecca!

Just about a month ago, Rebecca and I went to Fairfield to go to the California State Board
exams for cosmetology. Rebecca had just graduated from cosmetology school in July, and wanted to get the exams over with as quickly as possible, especially important since she is expecting a baby in November. Months ago she asked if I would be her model for the exam. In preparation, she practiced cutting my hair, giving me facials, pedicures and manicures. She studied late at night for the exam as she had another job in addition to the time she spent at school. I don't know how she kept up her schedule, but somehow it all came together for her.

We decided to check into a hotel the night before as she needed to be at the testing site at 5:45 A.M.! Unfortunately, the people in the room next door to us were loud and obnoxious. I had to finally ask them to please be quiet somewhere in the neighborhood of 11:30 P.M. That and then my snoring kept her up most of the night! Poor dear, she was quite flustered before we left for the test. We said a quick prayer and off we went.

When we got there, you could see that many of the models were the moms of the candidates. One guy even brought his grandpa to be his model (which was really cute watching him do perms and manicures with polish on the grandpa). The testing was weird! We weren't allowed to speak or communicate with anyone or each other. What an odd situation! Once the testing started, Rebecca became calm and confident. Each challenge she was given she completed in such an competent and professional manner. At the end of the 4 1/2 hour test, she completed every item on the lengthy list with time to spare. The only one in her room to complete everything! I was so proud of her! Afterwards she had a written portion to take. I was not allowed in there so along with the other nervous moms (and grandpa) I waited in a special waiting room for friends and relatives. Next was waiting for the results.... and waiting...and waiting. Finally, we got the news. She passed!!! We figured only about a third of the candidates taking the test that day passed. It was truly an honor to be able to share in this special day with Rebecca.
