Manga Banga Fog Fanga Fee Fie Mo Schmanga: MANGA

Hi everyone,

Cool news. We have a Maximum Ride book coming out in Manga. And they totally made me blonde! And umm, pretty cute. Hmmm. Maybe I'll go Marilyn Monroe blonde. Gwen Stefani makes it pretty punk. Anyway, we got these pics from James recently of the booth at Comic-Con in New York. You can see what the cover looks like and stuff. Pretty cool, huh!

OM(F)G

Hey-hey!

I think it's been like FOREVER since I blogged. I dunno. I guess I needed to umm, feel inspired.

(:(giggle):)

And Max is going to soooooooooo roll her eyes at me! Because I just must talk about Gossip Girl. And Max is just going to have to deal!

Was the "giggle" avec emoticons too much? I don't think so. Know WHY? Because BLAIR WALDORF is TOO MUCH.

I love it. I want more. That chick dresses like she put on a prep school uniform and then layered it with like, NINE layers of couture. And I wouldn't want it any other way.

Even though personally, I sympathize with Little J.

Princess Waldorf had it coming.

Not that I don't love Princess Waldorf like I love chocolate mousse. Those two scrappy ladies can battle it out in Manolo's FOREVER as far as I'm concerned. I just like to to sympathize with the underdog. And Ascher is a BABE. You go Little J!

xoxoxoxoxoxo!

NuDgE

And P.S.

Did you see Taylor Momsen aka "Little J" in Paranoid Park? It was really really good. And she was really super good in it. xo -N

A Question a Week

Yo,

This Jess question posting thing opened up a floodgate. The Jess questions got answered is because they were really funny. And because she was one of the first people to do something like that. Unfortunately, it's impossible for us to answer all of the questions all the time. We'd like to do it for each and every one of you, really. But no cookies.

And think about it. It would get boring for everyone after a while if we spent our entire blog time answering stuff.

I did see some questions in there for Total once though. That furry little egomaniac, he was pretty excited. So barring the fair chance that I will some day give in to Total and type up his tome answers to his three adoring fans, there won't be any long list of questions being answered again any time soon.

The "But":

Questions are still kinda fun. Therefore, we will try to answer a question every week or two, saving-the-world permitting. (Posting your question 29468256490580149385 times will not help your case.)

Sing Monkey, Er, Baby!

Hi,

Okay, so we always get this one kinda creepy question right? About whether when we have babies they'll be in eggs or something. The answer, I don't know. I don't want to know any time soon. And the point of bringing that rather frightening subject up is the following.

I don't care what the baby I hypothetically possibly might maybe have someday comes out of, so long as it can do THIS.

Max

Movie News

Yo,

So, we get bajillions of questions about this.

The movie is coming out 2010-ish. Avi Arad who did Spiderman and X-Men is producing, which should make it awesome.

If I was feeling sentimental, and I'm NOT, then this is what I might hypothetically be feeling.

SO THERE.

Locked Out and The Acorn Explained

Yo,

So my blog got locked. It was uncool. Some notice that Fly On was a "spam blog." I don't trust it.

Also, I was mad (among other words).

But, that's why I haven't been blogging. It took Nudge a week to hack back in.

It's been eerily quiet for us lately. Like that time when there were no more Erasers. Nothing's happened yet. Talking about it only makes the quiet more ominous.

In other news.

Some of you were asking about the "deeper meaning" of that Acorn video.

Well, I like that video because it's so organic. It seems to talk about the scope of the world and your place in it, which ties into what we're fighting against. And it's just really imaginative. Kinda Golden Compass-y. So that's fun.

Also, this is the band's explanation, quoted from the YouTube page:

Flood Pt. 1 is a modern fable with many hidden meanings in the video's several twists and turns.

A penny falls from the sky and begins a cataclysmic chain of events.

A glacier falls from a subarctic cliff and wakes a giant who sleeps beneath the sea.

The angry giant unleashes his fury in the form of a Tsunami which forms into evil storm clouds that spew rain storms of treasure and gold into a bucolic river, where our hero (and heroine) are picking snails.

The two escape the storm in their small boat, and are carried on this current of disaster. Joined by a wise old snail, they witnesss burning carnivals, Escaped zoo animals, and trashed trailer parks, and other such melee as they make their way to the shore.

They dance with lions, and cross a desert, cluttered with dinosaur bones and hidden treasures, and climb on board a flying turtle who takes them on a harrowing journey into the sky, through the carnival, and to a safe place in the grass.

They plant a snail and are catapulted into outer space, saved by a forgotten satellite.

As they peer down towards the earth, a penny falls from our heroine's pocket, starting the chain all over again.

Anyway, I hope you liked it. Max definitely did. And you seemed to, too. Thanks for all your comments.

Next up, something to lighten the mood, a Funny Monday Video. Iggy and I are Googling....

A Lot of You Are Probably Death Cab Fans

Yo,

So Ben Gibbard performed one of the new songs off their May 13th LP in a live acoustic session for the BBC. Found a link to it on the blog Hard to Find a Friend via Stereogum and though you'd enjoy. It's called "Cath".

Fly on,

Fang

P.S. I think you have to have Quicktime. But there's always their MySpace if you can't hear that song.

What IS IT About Mr. T?

Yo,

I mean, he brings kids out of comas. He brings kids out of comas?

There's a dinner party story for that kid when he grows up. "Hey, Mitch, did I ever tell you about that time Mr. T woke me up out of my coma?"

A synthesizer, a drum machine and a Mowhawk are a potent combo, apparently.

1,757,462 people have spent three and a half minutes of their life watching that video. Because I have any room to talk.

Uh, "Be somebody?"

Fang

Okay, okay, one more. I can't help myself. This one's for Nudge. Because, "She's a real hotdog."

"They're basically luxury condominiums for fish."

Was reading about this today.

Cool pictures. Once you're at the bottom of the ocean though, you're staying there. Bet it's quiet.

Daffodils Blooming in a Pot

It's still overcast. Water puddles on the sidewalk and turns brown. A plastic fork, a paper napkin, a potato chip bag (all curiously starting with the letter P) glow up at me like zombies from under the murky water. I can't definitively remember the last time it rained. But it must have been recent and it must have been often.

That's winter. A bland resignation towards gloomy weather. You expect it. And that's fine.

Then one morning you are grabbing breakfast, and there smiling into your retina, are daffodils blooming in a pot. The yellow is so bright it seems impossible. The heavy gray air will suffocate it out. But the next morning, the daffodil is still there. There and bigger even, with a little sister blooming beside it.

It's spring and I never get tired of it because it makes me proud to be alive.

Is it queer that I should feel such an affinity for all things decidedly natural, as I am by nature of my genesis, entirely un-natural? I suppose appreciation for life is innate in anything alive. No matter how it was created. Or maybe, I've just been almost-dead too many times not to relish living.

Fang

Moooo. Moooo.

Hey everyone,

So, I have to say. I think a cow hybrid would be a lot less cute than for example, Angel.

Bovine Ain't so Fine.
