In the past week...

I ran a race--the Ogden Relay.  The canyon was beautiful, the running was...  running.  I got a medal... along with everyone else that signed up for the race!  Yay!

The girls had their dance recital--it is always fun to watch them perform.  Lucy was a crack-up!
The fam outside the theater.

 Check out this pose!

Esther was a little teary-eyed after because she was the only one in her class without her t-shirt (her lame mom forgot to bring it).
She cheered up when we went out for ice cream with Papa and Grandma.
Here's Isaac doing his weird camera pose again where he lifts his chin up and touches it.  Crazy guy!

And John and I went to the U2 concert.  We bought the tickets a year ago for his birthday so he was pretty excited to finally go!   I told John he should have taken some one else that would appreciate the concert more but he wanted to stick with me.  I think I knew at least half the songs and I have to be honest and say Bono is a little crazy and there were some very strange parts during the show.

The stage was pretty crazy too (as you can see--WOW!)

Some friends happened to be sitting a few rows above us so they took this picture for us!

It's always fun to go out with the hubbie--even if it is to a cool/crazy concert.  Next time he may want to go "with or without me."  ha ha ha.

Dead battery and the worst day

Yesterday was my turn to drive to dance for Lucy's class.  During the class, Esther, Isaac and I hung out in the car listening to music and reading.  (Isaac gets a little to wild to go wait where all the other moms wait so I keep him contained in the car).   Anyway, after dance class we get loaded into my van and it wouldn't start.  Dead battery.  I found a nice dance mom to help me jump the van and we followed the directions but couldn't seem to get it working.  It was raining lightly the whole time we were making this attempt.  I called a friend to come pick us up since we couldn't get it to work.  In the mean time I called John who gave me a couple other tips to try to jump it.  Yay!  It finally started!!!  (John later asked why I didn't call him in the first place--my answer--I thought we could handle it but I guess I was WAY off).  We were all excited but then realized the nice mom who helped us now had her window stuck in the down position.  It's still raining and we spend the next thirty minutes (along with my nice friend who came to pick me up) trying to get this window back up so she can drive around in the pouring rain without getting soaked.  We finally got it closed except for a tiny sliver on one side.   I felt so bad that he window was broken due to helping us.    I was feeling pretty accomplished and also pretty cold, and pretty guilty that this nice mom's window was broken.  A lot of "pretties".  I was so grateful for nice friends and strangers who were willing to help even though it took a long time.

I got in the car and immediately Esther has a boat load to say.

"That took FOREVER!!!"

"My hands are like ICE!!!" (Let me add that she sat in the car the whole time and insisted on leaving the door open so she could see us working on the window.  I was the one out in the rain and cold but apparently her hands got quite cold.)

"Why wouldn't the car start?"

"Why did it take so long?"

And lastly, my favorite, as we walked in the house she said, "That was the WORST day of my LIFE!!!"

Wow.  I just laughed at that point and thought, "Sweety...  this will definitely be a fond memory compared to some days you will have to go through in this journey of life."

Another year...

I had a birthday.  I got to go swimming with my kids, have lunch with friends, get some cool new fancy dishes, go out with my hubbie, have a nice family dinner, snuggle my new nephew William, and blow out candles on some birthday brownies (made by Mary so you know they were amazing.)  It was a pretty good time.  Thank you for all the birthday wishes.

Isaac is always making us laugh--lately when we take pictures of him he thinks he should touch his chin and lift it high.  I don't know where he got that concept but it's pretty funny.

Gap-tooth girl!

Esther lost one of her front teeth last week.  She waited and waited until it was so loose a bite into a roll would have taken it out.  She finally worked up the courage to pull it out herself.  She didn't put it under her pillow because she wanted to take it to school and show her class first.  The next night she put it under her pillow.  In the morning she came, with the tears forming in her eyes, to tell me that the tooth fairy hadn't come!!!  I explained to her that some times the tooth fairy gets really busy and doesn't make it by until the morning.  Thankfully the tooth fairy is very stealthy and pulled off a morning exchange of the tooth for money.  Next time the tooth fairy will not be so lame.

Our first Hess cousin!!!

Esther, Lucy, and Isaac finally got their first cousin on my side of the family.  This cute baby boy (name not yet decided but most likely will be William) was born Friday, May 6th.  He weighed a whopping 9 lbs 15 ounces and was 22 and a half inches long and has lots of cute dark hair.  The girls are in love with him already and Isaac is slightly interested.  It's so fun to see Jake and Monique as parents!
