Your wonderful elders and sisters ‏ 3/23/3013

Dear Parents,

My husbands and I  have the privilege of serving with your fine sons and daughters in the ASL branch in Fullerton, CA. The branch has many needs and to fill those needs they have called couples from outside stakes to serve in the branch.  My husband and I were called to serve as missionaries in the branch in December. Therefore we have the wonderful experience of knowing your sweet children.  We have loved every minute in the branch.  The people are great and your sons and daughters are such a big help being Tod and I do not know ASL.

Today the branch attended the Newport Beach temple where the members were able perform baptisms for the dead.  We had a wonderful turn out, there were 16 members from the branch that attended.  What a wonderful experience.  I must admit it brought back the days when I served in the young women’s organization and I was able to go with my two sons and husband to the San Diego temple for baptisms, being my oldest son and husband were both there.  After completing the baptism I had your sons and daughters wait while I got a picture of them in front of the temple.  The other pictures are of the branch at the park eating our box lunches; although, it was 3:30 so more like earlier dinner.

You children love the lord and just thoroughly love the people the branch.  They are doing a fabulous job, you would be so proud to see them working so hard.  It is a joy knowing and serving with them.

my week!!!! ‏ 3/18/2013

WHAT CRYSTAL YOU ARE PREGO!!!!!!!! WOOT WOOT WOOT WOOT I AM SO SO SO SO SO HAPPY FOR YOU I AM SO EXCITED!!!!! YAY!!!! So, my week was amazing!!!! we had a sad day when one of our wonderful ready investigators dropped us and we wanted to cry... but... all is well... the lord gave us a mircale instead!!!!!

 

so yesterday was our baptism!! woot woot... so before that we were teaching Tony... and he asked what he would have to do to get baptized that night with his sister... so we went over the interview questions and we had faith that he was ready, then we set up a super fast interview and he was baptized last night!!! we were so excited!!! that makes number 17 for me as a missionary... i feel so blessed to touch so many peoples lives... i know its cause i am doing what he wants me to do!!!! :) :) :) i am seeing the fruits of my labors!!! and i love it!!! i am so happy to be the servant of the lord!!! :)

 

so this week i had a blast with sis smack!!! she is amazing!!! so, mom wants to know more about her... well she is 19.. she is from Eagle Idaho... hmm she is supper cute... an amazing missionary and we laugh all the time.. and we have cuddle time and i love it!!! her favorite color is mint... and she loves cereal... but the special k kind that is the vanilla with almenands... and hmmm she has three brothers and no sisters...she whent to BYUI for a year before coming out... she has super cute clothes and i love them  to death!!!... we have tons of fun together and i love that i can be myself with her!!! I just love her so so so so so so much!! :)

 

this past week went by way too fast!!! i now only have 11 weeks left and i want them to go as a snails pase... but i know that wont happen but i keep on praying for it... maybe it will happen... we will see...

 

mom i dont know if you can come to the branch the sunday before... it would be nice, but i think it would be way too hard... cause ... well.. i dont know if we could part if we saw eachother... i think it would be really hard... so i am going to say no even though i want you to see me sign... i still have to say no... but dont worry we are going to go visit a lot of people before we go... :) i am already making a list!!! :) it will be a lot of fun!!!!

 

I really hope and pray that dad comes... it would mean a lot to me if he did... so i will pray that his heart will soften so he can have the desire to come...

WOW mom you and Dad have been married for 32 years now!!! you two are getting ooollldddd!!! ;) ;) i just had to say... you know cause i love you that much!!!!!

so... my packageS... i love them all!!!!

the clothes are amazing and all look really good on me and if you look at the pictures that i sent out you will see that i am wearing some of them!!! i love all if them!!!! so so so so so so so much!!! thank you mom!!!

and Crystal... thank you so much for your sunshine package!!! It is the best!!! i love it!!! i am even wearing the yellow nail polish now!!! and all of it makes me fell so loved thank you so much!!!!

 

 I hope all is well at home!!! i LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!!!!

Weekly 3/11/2013

ALL RIGHT!!!

 

i have a few moments that no one is emailing me... this is my weekly letter... and i know it is short but at least i am sending one out... i love you all so much!!! so there has been a change in the missionary policy... missionaries can email anyone and not just family... they can email friends too!! amazing!!! so please put this on my face book... maybe i might get a few more emails.. who knows... my email is catherine.longan@myldsmail.net   ... so... please do it!!!

 

i was going to have a baptism yesterday but it got postponed until next sunday which is a good think, her name is michelle and she is 15 and she is hearing... her mother is deaf and she is a member and both of her grand parents on her fathers side are members so we are very excited for her!!! we have also started teaching a new women who have very basic language skills and i just love her to death she is so sweet, her name is veronica, and she is in her very late 30's to 40's... and she is mexican... and we taugh about prophets and she just loves president monsen and knows that he is a prophet from god... i just love teaching her!!!

 

you will never guess what happened during these transfers... my area got split... there will now be FOUR asl sisters working in this area it is so great... there is so much work that needs to be done we are so excited for it!!!! :)

sick week ‏ 3/4/2013

well this week for both sis smack and i have been sick... which makes it super hard to do a lot of missionary work... but we still try... as a result, sis smack was able to ask one of our investigators Cliff to be baptized. that was one of the most spirit filled and directed lesson I've ever been apart of... we were at his house with his girlfriend Michelle who is a member, and from our last visit we know that he has been battling with the issue of forgiveness and repentance, so we decide to read the story of Alma the younger with him, and cliff is an educated deaf man, and so we are reading the story out of the English book of Mormon which doesn't happen very often in the deaf branch and we have him read all the the most important powerful scriptures, and after talking about the story... i whisper to sister smack to invite him to be baptized, and when she did... it was silent for a long time... and i asked him what he was thinking about and he said the question sis smack asked... then there was more silence.... and he said he will... so we gave him the baptismal date of march 31st, it is Easter and we told him that it would be a great day to show that he truly wants to follow the lord... so... it was amazing!!! and he said that he will come to church on the 10th... i cant wait!!!!! amazing things are happening!!!!! I love it!!!!

 

so... mother... your obsession... why have you not sent me any of them??? i feel hurt that you would not share them with me!! :( i think they are all pretty!!!!

 

Jenni it looks like you had a lot of fun on your date... i showed sister Thompson your pictures and she loved them she is the one who wanted to take the picture with with the mustaches... so... she was supper dupper happy!!! and i am happy that you all are able to go out and have a lot of fun!!! I love you!!!

 

Crystal- i love all of your blog pictures your boys are just tooo cute!! i cannot wait to get to know them even more!!!!!! i am so excited to be there soon!!!! I love IT!!! oh and.... everyone just oooo and ahhhs over all your quilts here!!! :)

 

so... i have some sad news... there is a deaf elder... elder Hayes ... yesterday his mom died... poor elder... we don't know what to tell him... it was super unexpected... its supper hard!!!! :(

 

so... that's about it for my week... we had fun even thou we were sick... oh and i am now in judges in the old testament... woot woot!!! :) :) :) :) I'm just truckin a long!!! :)
