The Lumination!

Our lights are up! Now this is not just any Christmas lighting. Paul has been programming, building, and working on this for months now and it is amazing! I have such a smart creative husband...Anyway I will try to get a video of it to post but he has put lights and colors to music. It sure makes the holidays that much more fun and exciting. Way to go honey! Come check it out and tune your radio to 87.9.

A Hopeful Winter Tradition

I just got back from beautiful Oahu....This is the view from our hotel room. I could definitely get used to this December tradition. Good bye cold, Hello sunshine!
My Dad's team played in a tournament there and Mom and I got to go enjoy the scene. We did snorkeling, visited the temple, PCC, shopping, and the best part relaxing. Paul didn't have enough vacation, so he was awesome for letting me go without him.
Thanks Dad & Mom for letting me tag along on this much needed vacation.

My Winner Recipes!

I have been told I am a good baker not necessarily a good cook. So I tend to make good desserts. Too bad my family can't have a healthy diet made up of only brownies, cookies, and treats. The recipes that I do get complements on are the ones that I make more frequently.
People are always asking me what the recipes are that I take to showers, parties, etc. So I decided to make a list on my blog from time to time of recipes people want. The big news is that I am lucky enough to get these recipes from other amazing cooks so credit should go to them. I am still working on the original recipes of the Jessica Pohlman kitchen. (I think it will be quite a while until you see one of those)
So check out the bottom right hand side for Teriyaki Pasta Salad (salad I made for Melinda's shower) and Caramel Bars (dessert I made for Jana's shower)
Enjoy!

Halloween Hauntings

Paul and I love dressing up for Halloween! The best part is making our own costumes. This year a lot of people weren't sure who we were....can you tell?
We are at Grandma Gwen's for the annual Halloween dinner. My favorite homemade potato cheese soup, homemade bread and pumpkin pie. Does it get any better than this?
Pohlmans had a great soup dinner. So yes we were having an all you can eat night. Paul with our nephew Max the purple dinosaur. We have the cutest nephews and niece.

The Bult family Halloween party was a blast. Everyone dresses up and the kids had lots of fun things to do besides the traditional donut eating contest.
We had a great Halloween and hope you all did as well.
(Okay so if you still don't know who we are....go watch X Men. I am Storm and Paul is Nightcrawler. And yes, Paul is the one who sews in this family. If I tried to sew, I think I would have to start in April to get costumes looking this good!)

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

We went up to Wyoming for Jenna and Whitney's wedding reception and had a great time fishing up and down the river. I was pretty surprised I even caught fish, because I am usually very unlucky. The Neves were so great in welcoming us and letting us take over their home. We are so happy to have Whit in our family!

Paul and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary! 5 years already! It definitely goes fast, just like the summer. We went to California, stayed in Hollywood, went to Universal Studios, Six Flags, the beach and more. A friend at work was able to hook us up with tickets to Jay Leno which was awesome! We ended up on the front row (because our our good looks, I 'm sure :) and was there to shake his hand and do some very loud clapping (thanks to Paul). What an experience to be there on the set.
Universal was fun since Paul had never been there. They had a Simpsons lot with all kinds of Simpsons stores. We also had great luck at Six Flags to get on every ride with the longest wait at 35 minutes! We had a great time exploring and we even went back to Santa Monica where we went on our honeymoon. It was a great trip. Also a big thanks to the Richs for letting us stay with them. We sure love our cousins and it was so fun to be with them and their family.

Life seems to be moving along fast and after this trip, we don't have much planned. Our next big goal is to get the backyard done before the snow comes. We have been working really hard to get things done and it looks really good.
We are also scheming up some Halloween costumes...pictures to come!

Birthday and Wedding Wishes!

28 on 8/18/08 makes getting older not so bad.

Well I haven't posted for a while since we have been out of town for the entire month of July and August. It is tough having so much fun!

Jenna's wedding was awesome! It was a great day filled with fun, meeting and getting to know Whitney's family and food. We had a luncheon at the Joseph Smith Building, reception at Wheeler Farm and a beautiful day.

Then next weekend we went geo caching and geode hunting with the Pohlmans down South. Besides a flat tire, we had a great time and the weather cooperated with us. We were also able to get together with some of the cousins from out of town.

Then to Otto, Wyoming (population 50) for the reception up there. What a party! We danced and then went camping for the weekend. Paul and I had a great time fishing the rivers and going on a horse ride. It was great getting to know Whit's family better at their home.
The best story of the month is that we got our new couch!! Our first big purchase and we were so excited to get our sectional. Well needless to say, we couldn't turn it into the hall that leads to the room....after many hours of pushing, pulling, denting the wall and ceiling, taking apart the arms and legs of the couch, and much frustration, we took one for the team (as I would say) and cut a hole in the wall. It fit! So now we have an awesome couch in our family room and a hole in the wall to prove it. So either we fix it or I put a picture over the hole....ha!

For the Love of the Lake

We just got back from our Lake Powell to Bear Lake week filled with great skiing, yummy food, and good company. Lake Powell with the Judkins was great. We swam, skiied, slept under the stars, watched movies, air chaired, tube wars and hiked.

One morning Paul saw a snake in the water by the prop of the boat. Whitney fished it out to find a baby rattlesnake. Needless to say, he took care of it and we were all feeling better that it was gone.
Bear Lake with the Pohlman family reunion was awesome. We played rock band until we were playing in our sleep and played in the sand the rest of the day. Paul, Travis, Derek, April, and I went geo caching up there and just happened upon a favorite treat stop. (okay so I may have had some pull about that stop in the opposite direction of the cabin). Justin and I had some fun in the sand while the boys golfed. Fun times had by all and it is now back to the usual work week.
The next big event to look forward to is Jenna's Wedding! We are so excited!

Powell in June

Ahh...Lake Powell is always such a fun trip. I just got back with my brother Jordan and a bunch of his friends. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. I was the sorta chaperone as one of the oldest there and I am sure am thankful for my parents in always planning these kinds of trips for us. Thanks Dad for driving the boat from sun up to sun down and Mom for always making sure we had enough food. Sometimes being in charge of these things really help you appreciate all the hard work that goes into them.
We had a great time and I can't wait to go back again. Good thing we have possibly 2 more trips planned. Hopefully Paul's knee will continue to heal so he can enjoy it too.

Another August Wedding

My sister Jenna is engaged! The date is August 2nd to Whitney Neves. He is from Wyoming. Let's hope for not another rained out August wedding like ours. We went down to her graduation and so here is a shot of the siblings (missing Jordan). Also Paul is brace free. The knee is doing great and he now doesn't have to wear his brace.

Let the summer begin!

Paul "Wounded Knee" Pohlman

After a mean game of church ball, Paul tore his ACL. He had to have surgery therefore was dubbed "Wounded Knee" by my brother Jaxson. Surgery went really well and after a week of crutches and ice, he is walking around pretty good now. He has to wear his brace for quite a while and so our summer will be very different. Any ideas of fun summer things to do that don't require extreme athletic ability?

A Blogging Beginning

Here we are just starting our way into the blogging world. I have been saying that I was going to do this and finally I am! For our first entry, I wanted to post a few of our adventures from the past few years.

Europe was awesome! We went with John and April and toured France, Italy, Switzerland, England, and Germany in 10 days. This is us in France.

I can never get enough of Hawaii! Paul and I went to Maui and Oahu and had a blast. We went to the luau at the PCC, ate snowcones, went snorkeling, and enjoyed the beaches.

Jessica went to Mongolia with Dr. Ray Price to help them do surgery there. It was a great experience to see how they live (which is what I am standing in front of-a ger home) and how they do surgery in another country. I made good friends and hopefully helped the people.

Meanwhile, Paul skiied and skiied with my brother Jordan while I was gone and then all summer long.

We have had lots of fun and can't wait for what life brings next!
