2009 Christmas Letter

Barth Family 2009 Summary

If you had told us the changes 2009 would bring to our household we couldn’t have prepared for such good times or such challenging times:

Rob no longer commutes to Paradise for Chase Bank.  In February they let him go and he has since found employment with Butte County Child Support Services; a huge change from the retail he’s been in for the last 8 years.  While learning a new job brings challenges, he finds the legal aspect interesting and sort of fun.  His mom has worked in the courts for 20+ yrs, so now they talk legal jargon all too oftenJ   We are very grateful that Rob was able to find employment in such a tough economy…and now he’s only 5 minutes from our house…yahoo!

Raeanne no longer works for Kearbey Dental Group in Oroville.  The dental field has felt the weight of the collapsing economy too; so she was laid off a few months ago.  She enjoys being home full time with our two wonderful kiddosJ

Our lives continue to be rich with fun and challenges as we raise our now 2 ½ yr old Owen.  He is so much fun, and such a wonderful boy.  Though he can be stubborn at times, he entertains us everyday with his expanding personality and language.  He’s learning new words all the time and we are sort of learning a new language as well; as we decipher what he comes up with, ha.

Laci joined us May 21st and hit the ground running…not literally of courseJ.  She has fit in so well and puts up with Owens exciting, rough play.  He adores her, but treats her as if she’s a lot bigger and stronger than she is…soon enough, however, she will give it back to himJ  Laci is a sweet, smiling, growling 6 month old Rob-look-alike.  She sure does love her daddy.  She stops what she’s doing and smiles at him whenever he comes into the room.

One of the highlights of our year was when we caravanned with the Parrott’s to St. George, Ut. to visit the Owen family.  Laci was only 2 months old; she and Owen handled the 11+ hr drive each way very well.  Owen loved spending time with his cousins.  They played at a giant indoor bounce-house and indoor water park which was especially enjoyable since we happened to be there during their hottest week of the summerJ.

We are grateful for the many wonderful blessings the Lord has given us and we pray that your family recognized His influence in your lives as well.

Have a joyous Holiday Season; Merry Christmas!
May your home be filled with Joy and Laughter.
Love, Rob, Raeanne, Owen & Laci Barth

Decorating Our Christmas Tree and More

Owen has found new types of building blocks that surprise us.

He made these on his own.

Daddy and Owen built the tower together.

Bath time!

Soo cute!

Cuties.

"Don't bunch up the ornaments too much Owen."

"Look, I did it."

Ok, so they can be bunched up I guess, if that's the way he wants them:)

Merry Christmas!

Family

I'm finally posting some more of our family pictures. We sur had a great time
taking them and the kids really did a great job. Owen reminded me so much of myself, not smiling for the camera, and I have the pictures to prove it. :)
Thanks again Jenette and Brynn!

Family Pictures Preview

This week we got dressed up, packed the kids in the car and went to Paradise to Have some family pictures taken.

Laci's almost 6 months old now and we haven't had any pictures taken together!
My sister Jenette and her sis-in-law Brynn took the photos for us. They turned out so good! Its been hard picking out which ones to print.

Here's a small preview for ya:

Laci, sittin in the falling leaves

Owen wants to give Laci kisses all the time! So it was easy to get this shot:)

Can you tell this is at the end of our photo shoot? :)

Pumpkin Patch 2009

Lunch at the park after lots of playing at the pumpkin patch.

Neat train ride.

Landen and Owen loved Uncle Blane's dad's new toy.

Ethan and Laci are already trying to date, ha.

Those crazy Hancocks:)

Owen kept calling the goat with horns a "Rhino", ha.

Owen's world

Usually when you're cooking dinner and you notice your 2 year old is being really quiet you start to think the worst, (is he taking his diaper off, where is he hiding and is he peeing on the carpet, again?!) I was pleasantly suprised to find Owen playing with his trains.

Nanna gave Owen this really cool garbage truck today and he just loves it!! Garbage trucks are one of his favorite things. Every monday we watch out the window as it comes up and down our street to pick up the trash.

I think he learned the "beep-beep" from his Daddy. :)

Our Weekend

We had a nice weekend. Not a whole lot happened, but we got some fun pictures anyways:)

Owen loves hats, and he has been having a blast sharing them with Laci.

Owen was soo excited to wear a tie like Daddy. Since Daddy
had his tie on, Owen kept his tie on for all of church.
What handsome guys!

This is what happens when a certain boy won't take his nap when he's supposed to...he crashed like this after almost finishing a bowl of cereal.

There was a fire prevention expo on Saturday at Riverbend Park.
Owen got to enjoy 10 firetrucks (he was in heaven), including one with a really big ladder, and a bulldozer that Cal-Fire uses for fire breaks.

This is Rob and Owen inside the cab of the truck that pulls the dozer...and yes they did pull the air horn:)...it was really loud!
Owen and Daddy made the front page of Monday's Mercury Register: click here: http://www.orovillemr.com/ci_13541973?source=most_viewed . It was really neat. In the actual newspaper it's a really big photo, almost takes up the whole page.
Laci and Owen taking over our bed:)

Owen loves to give Eskimo Kisses now. We rub noses like eskimoses:)
Laci puts up with the boys, ha.

This was so cute...we caught Owen reading to Mickey.

Lately Owen has been experimenting with different fashion styles.
Here he's sporting a pair of Laci's sweat pants. He's also tried to get the matching sweat jacket on his legs too...it's really funny.
We're thinking about turning these pics in to Oakley for their next ad campaign, ha.

Brit & Kate the cutie

This is the best picture I got of most the gals, unfortunately
Brit was stuck behind the cameras! :(

Thanks ladies for a wonderful trip! We have to do it again soon.
