Trick or Earthquake?!?!

I have to be honest, Halloween is one of my least favorite holidays! I have never been a fan of people in costumes, being scared, or the crazy things that happen on Halloween.
That's why when we woke to news that we had slept through 2 earthquakes I got a weird feeling! What? Earthquakes...in Grand Prairie? Who ever heard of such a thing!

We did however make it though the tremors without noticing, so our day went on as normal. Today was Book Character day at Makinley's school. So in addition to having a Halloween costume for today, we also had to have a costume for school! Makinley dressed as Fancy Nancy, and I must say she was Fabulous, that is a fancy word for good!(That is what Fancy Nancy would say!)

Morgan made a shirt this week at school to wear today. They made a bat using their footprints and wrote "Batty for Jesus". She was definitely the most beautiful bat!

Tonight it was off to the church for the Fall Festival. We rushed home from school and began the getting ready process. Makinley was a clown so she needed a clown face. Ha! That was easier said than done! It took a good 30 minutes to get it like she wanted, but I think it looks pretty good! You be the judge! She got tons of compliments from her hair to her shoes!!!!
As many of you know, Morgan is confident that she is going to be a mermaid when she grows up. So of course a mermaid was the perfect choice for Morgan's costume! She was the most beautiful mermaid I have ever seen! She will be very successful one day, even though I'm not sure what exactly mermaids do?!?!?

I am so glad that Halloween fell on a Friday! That means that it is over and we can have a NORMAL weekend! Yipeee!

Hunter's Halloween Party

This year was Hunter's 2nd annual Halloween party. What fun! The kids wore their costumes, well...they wore them in the car! Once we had been there for about 5 minutes, my kids came peeling out of theirs! The kids played outside(the temp. was in the 80's), bobbed for apples, and decorated pumpkins. Makinley won the "most creative" award for her pumpkin and Morgan got a trophy for her unique pumpkin. Of course, since Wendy was hosting, there was a ton of food! I was afraid that the girls would never sleep after being pumped full of oreo balls, cupcakes, and cookies! However they did bob and eat several apples so I guess that evened it all out, right?! Thanks Hunter for a great time!!

Baby Drew is Here!!!!

Well, it has been way too long since I have done this and I have a LOT to cover. We have been so busy that I just haven't had the time!

Well, let's back up ummmm...a week! Last Thursday Corey and I got a new nephew named Drew!!! I know that most of you already know this but too bad, I'm still sharing! We went to see him that night but because he was in the ICU, I was the only one that actually saw him. The girls were crushed!!! So on Saturday, after he was dismissed from ICU, we went back. The girls were awestruck!! They held him, kissed him, and got to be the first to put lotion on his feet! That was a very big deal!
We are so glad that Drew is here! Corey and I are so lucky to have Clayton and Drew in our lives. We have so much girl drama it is fun to get the boy perspective on things! Love you boys!!!!

Fun Times!

Saturday we just hung out around the house most of the day. We had talked about going to a pumpkin patch or something but by the time we got out, everything was closed. So we headed for Grapevine Mills for a little "bungie jumping"! In the mall they have a kid bungie that we found this summer when we went with my sister in law, Sarah, and my nephew, Clayton. All of the kids did it and had a blast. My girls ask every weekend if we can go back and jump again. At $6 a piece, it is cheap entertainment, and it makes a great story!
Makinley went first and decided to try a few flips. She did great! She is a very serious jumper though. By looking at the pictures you would think that we talked her into it, but it was all her idea!!!

Morgan on the otherhand, giggled the entire time! She kept saying that it was tickling her tummy. Morgan is very guarded, but when she wants to be she is quite the dare devil!!!

Today Corey had a golf game so my friend Wendy and I decided to take the kids to the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch. WOW! I wasn't expecting it to be so popular, however I could see why. If you haven't been it is great! Everything is free...jumphouses, slides, hay rides, train rides. You do pay for the pumpkins, but they have fields to walk through and choose from. They also provide wagons to transport the pumpkins to the car! (A perk when there are 2 adults and 4 children!!!) The kids had so much fun and it was a beautiful day. We did make them pose for a few pictures, of course! We paid them off with kettle corn... we called it "popcorn for pictures". Nothing wrong with a little bribe right?!?!?! What a fun day!

4's can do that...

Before we get to what 4's can do, let's talk about what 4's DON"T do....
4's don't pee in a cup on command
4's don't read pictures off of an eye chart
And 4's don't take hearing tests.
I found all of this out first hand today at Morgan's 4 year old check up. She just flat out refused and it is rather difficult to MAKE someone do any of those activities:) I also found out, by a very rude nurse, that some people don't have time to wait on 4's to change their mind. (Which wasn't going to happen anyway) Needless to say, it is a good thing that we don't go to the dr. very often!

With that said...Since Morgan's 4th birthday in September, she continues to announce, almost daily, a variety of things 4's do. So I have compiled a list of
The Top 10 things 4's can do:
10. make own peanut butter sandwich
9. snap
8. go to school
7. put on pajamas
6. make breakfast: honeybuns
5. adjust own air vent on the ceiling of the car
4. have polish on fingers, not just toes
3. push the buggie at the grocery store, not ride in it
2. fold a baby blanket
and the number 1 thing that 4's can do....
1. clasp fingers together and wave arms like a snake!

I really need a video of the last one for it to be fully appreciated! All of these things, she has come up with on her own. They might not seem really funny to anyone else, but they are so random and come up so spontaneously, that I just have to laugh!

Tagged!

Well, I just got tagged by Sarah. I'm not sure what I have done to her to deserve this kind of treatment...I thought that I had done some pretty nice things lately?!?!?! So now I have to post 6 random things about me...this should be nice and boring!

1. I love naps. I could take a nap everyday. When I was a kid our house totally shut down on Sunday afternoon for nap time. It drove Wade and I crazy! We didn't do a lot of napping, we usually moved the furniture around in the living room to make cool forts. (No one ever appreciated our engineering abilities!) Corey even hated Sundays because we couldn't come out and play. I can remember looking out the back door, watching him ride his bike between our houses, hoping that I would escape. Even now, it makes him a little crazy that I take a nap every Sunday. After church and lunch, Morgan and I bust out the "easy" clothes and bed up for 2-3 hours. What bliss!!!!

2. I am self diagnosed ADHD. Yet another thing about me that drives Corey insane. (there seems to be a reoccurring theme here!) I cannot just sit. I try, I really do, but it only lasts about 5-10 minutes. Corey does a lot of physical work during the day and when he gets home he wants to sit and watch TV together after the kids go to bed. I can watch TV as long as I have something to do, like fold laundry, or blog, or look at a magazine. I know it seems very tiring, and it is some days....maybe that's why I still need naps!!!

3. I have not always been one to read for pleasure. I know, what a let down right? I am a Literacy Strategist and I am supposed to be this avid reader who has read every book ever written. Truth is I don't remember much about learning to read, or having much fun doing it. Just in the last few years, 5 or so, have I really learned to enjoy reading. I love to read novels and professional books. The thing is, I don't just read 1 book at a time. Right now I have 3 books going. 2 professional and 1 novel. Just depends on the mood I'm in as to which one I will read on any given night.

4. I miss my mom and dad. I know that they are just a phone call away, but it isn't the same as being able to jump in the car and run over for a visit. I don't say much about any of this because it is very hard for me to talk about. I miss the shopping, meeting for lunch, or just being together on a Sunday night for dinner. And that is all I am going to say about that!

5. Painting my house is therapy for me. Most people hire someone to paint the interior of their house because of high ceilings, or the fear of messing it up. Not me! I don't think I could ever feel at home if someone else decorated for me. It gives me ownership and makes me proud of the home we have. I am constantly thinking of what I could paint next. I'm just about to run out of rooms though, so it will be time to start over. I think that worries Corey a little. A random fact about him is, he doesn't like change! As if you didn't already know that!!!

6. I am extremely sensitive. I can't watch long distance phone commercials. I cry when I read other people's blogs (especially Kim and Joe's). I can't listen to the radio when they are having people call in and talk about their family, or a sick child, or winning a vacation! I know this is probably not something that any of you would have predicted, but hey, we all have our secrets!

Now it time to hear some secrets from some other friends! I'm not sure that I can come up with 6,but I will get close:

Kelli: because you need an updated blog

Robin A: you should have never let on that you blog too:)

Tara: Not only do you need an updated blog, but I know there are things that we don't know about you!

Jay: because you are VERY random, and that's why we love you!

Jean: because you are the sneaky blogger!

Here's what you do:

1. post the rules

2. list 6 random facts about yourself

3. tag 6 others

4. pass it on for fun
