"In the midst of winter, I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer." -Albert Camus, French Writer

Allow your attitude to shape your day, not your circumstances.
Readjust and become resilient to opposition.

Decide to change your mind and be ready for the next challenge!!

2AM

Tonight I found the beauty of my brown skin.
Not the deepest of ebony, not the lightest of honey.
Just the perfect shade of brown.

Tonight I found the beauty in my imperfections.
The dimples in my thighs and the scar left on my knee.
Tonight I celebrate my ass and I wrapped my arms around
breasts that are still full & firm, and hugged all that God has made naturally.

Tonight I found my value, and its not only what I see tonight after a shower.
Its every triumph and failure,
every moment of laughter and sorrow,
its every experience & wisdom that made me who I am.

Miss Michigan

When I say its hard to come back to NC after a wonderful winter weekend this is what I'm really missing:

My church (click the logo to go to the website)

My Daddy - The man in the middle is my father, although he doesn't remember me because of Alzheimer's, it doesn't stop me from having the desire to visit with him.

My Bookclub - these chicks are hilarious and they got my back - love 'em!! We had our holiday party the weekend I came home, we had a great time fellowshipping together. We played secret Santa and I had Nai, the chick in the blue, she's wearing the sweater I bought her. We all started crying like some big ponks at her announcement of her pregnancy. It's a good thing, she's married. It's a shame that a happy pregnancy has to be clarified.

"Where only the GOOD chicks get in" is their motto. OMG peoples! this is the best place in Kalamazoo for chicken!!! Where else could Kool-Aid be a headliner on the menu???? Various flavors of sauces like Habenaro Mango and Jamaican Jerk. My absolute favorite has got to be the HONEY HEAVEN...stop drooling on your keyboard. You get your choice of flava, a mess of fries, and a large Kool-aid (flavors of Red, Grape, Tropical Punch, & Lime all with that extra hint of lemon!!!!) all for $7

Oh, and I can't forget the GUILTY PLEASURE. (To my readers on the other side of the state, if you recognize the man in the photo, please don't tell me. My heart can't take it. LOL. No, seriously don't tell me.)

I can say that while in NC I'm gainfully employed which is more than I can say about the life I had back in Michigan. All in all, the move was not in vain.

On another note, I know I haven't been posting, now I have a whole lot to say before the end of the year so please read more than just the first post! Thanks!

Quiet Storm

Everyone has a natural, God-given desire to be loved. I don't care how
hard or tough you are, how long you've been alone, how independent or how
self-sufficient you may be, YES! you desire to be loved too. You want
the reassurance of knowing someone has your best interest at heart . . .
you want the security of knowing someone is genuinely concerned about your
well being . . you want the benefit of knowing somebody accepts you for all
that you truly are . . . that is the kind of love I'm talking about.

The problem with acknowledging it is that the older we get, the more
experience we gain in denying or ignoring it. As a matter of fact,
sometimes we even convince OURSELVES into believing we don't need to
have this basic element of life met and fulfilled. But you know the funny
thing? Even if in your head or heart you think you can maintain without it,
after a while you'll find the inner you looking for love . . . a lot of times
in ALL the wrong places. . .

You can best see this human trait uninhibited in the innocence of a
baby. See, we benefit by watching them because babies haven't learned to fake
and pretend when it comes to their inner most concerns. So they'll cry out
for attention, they'll whimper for affection, they'll even throw temper
tantrums! There is a great lesson for all of us in this example. A baby will do
these different things to get the attention of the parent because he/she
knows the parent is the primary source of the love needed. The apostle Paul said
in I Corinthians Ch. 13 that when he was a child, he handled things in a
childish fashion. Have you forgotten that you are still God's child?? The only
difference now is that you should recognize the importance of seeking
your heavenly parent. So why aren't you crying out to God like the baby?

The point is this . . . some of you are looking for love in people
and/or things that will NEVER completely satisfy you. Some of you seek love in
your jobs as a place of refuge from the cares of your personal life,
others of you are on the Internet or in chat rooms actively looking for a new
mate, still others of you are dealing with somebody that is not concerned
about God in the same way you are, some of y'all are afraid to do what God
told you so you're running to something/someone that allows you to forget it
all, and some of you are just out using anything that resembles a warm body
to fill the void from a lack of LOVE!!!

Listen, Satan will never allow you to believe that what you really need
is tied up in God. He'll tell you stuff like "You deserve better" and because that sounds good, we mistake it for "God's will". Many of you on this list will be freed and delivered from this dungeon or misery when you gain understanding about the following:

It's IMPERATIVE that you love YOURSELF before you can love somebody else.

If you aren't crazy about your own imperfections, you'll be miserable
when faced with trying to deal with somebody else's. It'd be easy for me to say "Take it to Jesus" or "Pray about it", and those aren't necessarily bad ideas. But too many times we forget that Jesus is no longer on the cross, so why are you still there?

Fall in love w/ yourself all over again!

The EXPERIENCE!

I had an experience this weekend like no other!

The Cortney Gee Experience that is, filled with singing, comedy, and straight up coonery! I travelled to Charlotte, NC after work on Friday to support a brother of the blogs. Now, I know after hounding him and pulling some stalkerish type antics I found out where the venue, The Omega House is located. Cort may say otherwise but I know for a fact he told me 8PM that the show was going to start. He didn't know what the hell he was talking about cause I was walking in with the DJ while he was setting up. All during the day I had prepared myself for the evening thinking: "Ok Sheletha, you are going to be around a whole bunch of Dawgs so your game gotta be extra tight, you remember the Ques from college right?" Needless to say all that damn pep talk was for not, because the Ques I met when I arrived were old, not Cortney old (smile), but old like sitting at the bar where everyone knows your name type old. I could at least out run these mu'fukkas if shit got outta hand. Anyway, I'm sitting there waiting cause Cort told me 8, one of the Omega men asked me if I had a ticket. I told him no, I was meeting Cortney here. He asked me if that was one of the bruhs. I was like, "no, its the ni99a on the ticket." He left me alone after that. The rest took care of me while I was waiting. I had ate and chilled while watching the Celtics game on television.

Showtime was Awesome! Cortney is a fool. He had the crowd captivated. After the show was over he was distributing his CD's and DVDs working the crowd and doing his thing. That was cool. I was trying to get my mojo to work but everybody there knew I was a guest of Cortney's since I had been there sooooo long. So when I did find someone my age the conversation always started about how did I know Cort. Uggh! word got around fast! Nobody was fukkin wit me.

Soon after the picture above was taken I started getting a slight headache but I wasnt going trying to think anything about it. I was stomping with the big dawgs over to the Savoy, I guess a club favorite of Charlotte. The crowd was young and it was just interesting to watch people dance on the floor. I was amazed because what I observed was nothing short of either what looked like a fight or people having sex on the dance floor. It wasn't that choreographed, syncopated dance structure that you see on television. Some song came on and everybody was singing "I gets money, money, money!" All I could think was that half these ni99a ain't even got a savings account let alone walked into a Bank of America. Talkin about "I get money" please, getthefukouttahea." I thought I was waayy too flyy to be in this piece so said my goodbyes and I headed to my friends house where I stay whenever I visit Charlotte.

It was then my headache started to worsen and I thought I could sleep the headache off. I woke with a stiff neck and at the slightest movement my head would throb, it was pulsating and unbearable. I started to vomit (Sorry, TMI). This was the onset of a migraine, I was done. There was no way I was going to try to head back to Greensboro. At least not that day. I wanted to cry but it would make the headache worse. I was popping pills, and my friend was scared, begging me to go to urgent care. I kept telling her that I think I would be fine, I just need some Excedrin. Thats exactly what I got that made me feel better. I still have a slight headache but it was nothing like I experienced that morning.

Other than that, my weekend was great! How about yours?

Stankyouvery much Miz!!!!

The rules of the game are:

B). Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself...
C). Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs...
D). Let each person know that they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Everybody is asking for seven, but in true to a Libra's form I cant decide which seven to choose. If you want to reminisce on some randomness, Click the link to get:

102. Im addicted to Divalicious Opinions Cheatin' A$$ Bubble game.
103. I get to co-host the holiday party for my bookclub. Yay!
104. My bookclub had to revoke some memberships due to lack of committment. We don't play.
105. I applied for a new position at my job. It's been weeks since the last interview. I've been patient so far, waiting for some kind of answer. Just a few minutes ago I went to the guys office that interviewed me just to see what was up. He said I was in a 'really good position' and he was 'impressed with my application.' I'm more confused as ever.

I don't play right...so if you would like to be tagged...You're IT!

The Great Pumpkin!!!

This is my favorite time of the year, when Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown comes on ABC. When I was little I couldn't wait for this show to come on television. Now, with the advent of YOUTUBE I don't have to wait. It's always on whenever I need it. Its only for nostalgic reasons that Im going to tune with my popcorn in front of the television to watch the show like is supposed to be enjoyed.

My favorite part comes near the end when Sally gets pissed off at Linus because she's waited all night and missed out on the "tricks and treats." I know you all aren't going to watch 25 mins of Charlie Brown while you're at work, so I will give you her lines right here:

I was robbed! I spent the whole night waiting for the Great Pumpkin, when I could've been out for Tricks or Treats! (gasps at what she just said) Halloween is over and I missed it! You blockhead. You kept me up all night waiting for the
Great Pumpkin, and all that came was a BEAGLE! I didn't get a chance to go out for Tricks or Treats! And it was all your fault! I'LL SUE! What a fool I was. I could've had candy, apples, and gum. And cookies and money and all sorts of things. BUT NO! I had to listen to you! You blockhead. What a fool I was. Tricks
or Treats come only once a year, and I missed it by sitting in a pumpkin patch with a blockhead! YOU OWE ME RESTITUTION! (shaking him bythe collar of his shirt)

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Add to My Profile More Videos

Be sure to be in front of the television at 8pm.

New York Part Deux

You guys don't have to wait until next week to get part 2...here it is:

After seeing The Color Purple and walking down Broadway I meet up with "The Deep One" She's in her MINICOOPER! I have never rode in one of these itty bitty cars so the experience was fun. I notice in New York you must obey every traffic rule that you studied in that book, because if you don't you surely would be ran over! I guess even you don't the probability of getting ran over is still high. Im glad Dee was driving, I was observing some situations where I would straight panic. I'm a punk.

Our first stop was Ground Zero. I cannot describe how I felt while I was in that area. It was sort of surreal, I could only imagine the chaos that was occurring there 6 years ago. Dee told me stories of people that lived the traumatic event as we walked, we even came to the CROSS, which was the part of the WTC building that left some hope and was a miracle within itself.

Harlem was next, I got to see the Apollo...that was ultimately cool and shop in the flagship store Carol's Daughter. I had about 4 things in my hand that I was about to buy, then I put them all down cause I couldn't decide on which items I needed the most. Ill just go online and order when I get my mind right. I settled on this sample of a Chocolate scented body butter. I need to try it on a victim to see the results before purchase.

We dined at Melba's, relative of Sylvia's where there are great eats for us to enjoy. Dee had a pecan crusted talipia, with garlic mashed potatoes and greens that looked DEE-FLIPPIN-LISH! I had chicken and waffles but wait!! RED VELVET CAKE w/a birthday candle!!! As you can tell from all 32 teeth showing in the pic, I was stoked! Melba's was a beautiful little (and I do mean little!) spot and we had great conversation about Lance, life, and all things that are loved.

Next up on the birthday roller coaster was the DEN for drinks and dudes. I noticed this bar sat next to an AME church. Although reluctant, I went in. It seemed as this was going to be a one way ticket if things got outta control. Only in New York, and perhaps Chicago would your see a bar next to a church. I could be wrong, I think that has got to be in any hood. When we first got there it was just drinks because the females were on overload. Dee invited her friend Geri along for the party, the more the merrier!!! Patron shots for everybody. Lick, slam, Lime...I always forget the order. New York's finest rolled through the door (not the police, men I tell ya!) a little later. A few shots later I was next to the DJ that was spinning the 1's and 2's. Did I tell you I was jammin? The barista knew how to make a drink like a pro, we had some martinis that were tasty. I told Mr. Jeff, the young man with a head full of grey hair, that it was my birthday and I asked what do I get. He told me drinks and kisses! I wanted my kiss first, so he slapped a juicy one on my cheek...that was awesome. I think I wanna be next to him for the rest of the night. I couldn't do that cause I was makin it rain on them hoes that were at the bar behind me. Dude said he was a stripper, Geri and I wanted to see. He danced a little I laughed. More drinks for everyone! Where was Dee at the time? I dunno..Geri and I made it rain.

Gerri's boyfriend came by after work...He was driving a big ole Excursion...okay at this point I really don't remember what happened. Keys were lost, I found them. The events in between were a blur.

The next I remember was going back to my hotel and those flippin yahoo directions that got us mixed up. Dee doesn't often travel that far out and we kinda got lost, and the directions didn't make any sense. But we made it and said our goodbyes, it was fun and I know Im coming back. Dee showed me the church she attends and instead of making it rain I was going to get my praise on.

New York New York Big City of Dreams

I know you all have been waiting on pins and needles for me to post something about my trip to New York. Well, here is something for ya!

JetBlue is the bomb diggity yo! (as long as they leave on-time) I felt as if I was in my red room chillin because the seats were pretty roomy and the televisions with cable in front of me. I kinda embarrassed myself cause I was watching Harlem Nights and pretty much reciting the scene between Cora and Quick in the alley. I was louder than I thought. Downside was that I got this Ipod thinking I was finally going to get the chance to use it for the intended purposes, but got caught up in TBS instead. The Ipod was great for the subway train rides into Canal Street.

I kinda got jipped though, I didn't get to see any of the street performers that I read about on other blogs, or anyone selling individual garbage bags, or people just hustling.

We got to Canal St early Saturday morning and as soon as we stepped of the subway the people were trying to get me to come to their shops for their "designer" handbags. Okay, me and the crew followed the man to the storefront and I found myself in a closet. When I looked behind me no one was there! My sister later told me that the Asian man was communicating with the lady inside the closet with me about the number of people that were coming back there. They wouldn't let me get out, but my sister told me that my neice said, "I can't leave Aunt Sheletha back there by herself!" Told ya she was my potna in crime. Anyway, I ended up walking out with my fake Coach's , Gucci's & Channel. They tried to get me for my money until I told them, "Hey, the Gucci imprint is crooked on the wallet!" "ok, ok we give you for $25."

The Color Purple was fantastic, but people get on my nerves!!! Fantasia didn't show up and for some reason I figured that would happen. All day I had been in a whatever mode, I travelled to see a Broadway show and if Fanny wasn't going to be there I still wanted to see a show! Besides, Oprah wasn't going to let some fa-dup-a-dupe be in her show. The people around me were just blown away about the announcement getting all mad at the people selling t-shirts, it was unreal. I was like dude go get your money back then! Otherwise STFU! The lady behind me was complaining that it was too cold, upset at the usher chic all about it. Yes, it was cold but I have never been to a theater perfomance where it wasn't cold. I think its better for the voices, plus ole girl had a man for Blizzard Booty so again I say STFU!

After the show we walked along Broadway and came to Diddys HQ. There was a cutie standing at the door talking on his phone as we walked along. I mouthed the words: CAN WE COME IN? it was just like I said, Open Sesame because he opened the door to let us in. We stood in the vestibule, chit chatted and took some more pictures. I absentmindly spoke that I didn't like Diddy in response to what something my neice had said. When I got my mind back and realized I was standing inside Diddy's real estate I knew that wasn't the smartest thing to admit. I looked for cutie that was at the door and relieved that he didn't hear me. Luckily, Diddy was somewhere on the other side of the U.S. getting arrested for slapping a bitch up.

This has to be continued...my time with Dee has got to be a blog by itself.

Potna In Crime

October 11 is coming, so now is a fine time to introduce you to my potna in crime. Its my niece Ashley. Ashley is turning 16, and well I'm umm...older. We share the same birthday, and this is the first time we are actually celebrating together. The decision was that we see The Color Purple, starring North Carolina's own Fantasia Barrino. See, since this chick came along I haven't really had a birthday. Y'all know how it is. This time she and I are hitting the BIG APPLE together, with her mother (my sister) and one of her friends in tow. I'm going to be somewhere with CapCity doing grown folx things. Im excited and this should be a lot of fun.

Theres a little story about this kid and us sharing the same birthday. I was born on a Friday way back some years ago and my sister, Sheila was in high school trying to get out of the house to go to homecoming. Well, during that night I came along and as the story goes, she had to be at the hospital. Fast fast forward to my junior homecoming football game, karma wants to kick me in the ass and I get word that my first (and only) niece is being born. Ughhh..that was great but I had some cheer leading to do. I'll see her tomorrow! Take that karma!

Anyway, this diva in training

and the two that she learned from

are going to take New York by storm!!!!!

Okay, here is a list of all I want to do. I know I won't be able to do it all because of time, but something is going to get scratched off this list

I want to eat a slice of New York's finest Pizza

-shout "Brooklyn" and throw my hands up.

-scratch my name in something and take a picture of it.

-shop on Canal St. for some bootleggs.

-see ground zero.

-take pictures in Times Square

I don't want to see one of those cat sized rats! Cap assured me that I won't. Ashley says, she wants to hail a cab. She doesn't want to get in it, just see if she can hail one herself. You see, we have simple pleasures.

Did I miss anything?? Cap, are you ready for me?

10 Things Black Women Should Know

Along with my birthday, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I never had some one close to me diagnosed with breast cancer, until now. Every year I would walk but this year I will walk for her.

from Black America Web.com:
1. White women are more at risk for breast cancer, but when black women develop the disease it’s deadlier.

2. The chance of an American woman developing breast cancer in some time at her life is one in eight, but the death rate from the disease for black women is 32 percent higher than for white women.

3. Younger black women who develop breast cancer are more likely than older black women or white women to develop a particularly aggressive form of the disease that is deadlier and harder to treat

4. Is there a history of breast cancer in your family, particularly with your mother, aunt, sister or maternal grandmother?

5. Are you severely overweight or obese? Did you become heavier after menopause?

6. Did your periods start before age 12?

7. Did you have your first child after age 30? Were you childless when you entered menopause?

. Perform monthly breast self-exam 2-3 days after the end of your period

9. Have a yearly clinical breast exam by a healthcare professional

10. Have a yearly mammogram beginning at age 40. Ask your doctor if you should start having them earlier if you believe you may be in a high-risk category.

Monday Praise!!!!

Praise is not just clapping your hands or applauding God. It is showing respect, honor, and gratefulness using your whole heart, mind, spirit and body despite your circumstances. Paul and Silas didn't wait until they experienced a breakthrough to praise and thank God. In the midst of difficult circumstances, they praised God and received the breakthrough they desired. When your deliverance comes, continue to praise Him because He has more in store for you. Thank Him for breakthrough in your home, on your job and with your children. Through your authority in Jesus, place a demand on your breakthrough and watch God show up in your life in ways you would have never imagined.

Obituary

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, whohas been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not childrenare in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.

Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Aspirin, sun lotion or a sticky plaster to a student; but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't legally defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know my Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and I'm a Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

Appointment TV

Appointment TV is when nothing else matters in the world, its just me and the boob tube. A lot of the television shows are silly and I won't be watching, but with the new Fall line up there are some that I can't help but tune in.

K'Ville Monday's 9:00PM FOX
Anthony Anderson plays Marlin Boulet, a veteran of the NOPD's Felony Action Squad, was left stranded in the waters by his partner, but still attempted to keep some little bit of order to all the chaos that was going on during the hurricane. He now has a new partner with ulterior motives, Trevor Cobb, who is fresh back from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. Together the two work the streets of New Orleans, trying to make it a better place. Helping them on their crusade are fellow officers Jeff Gooden, Captain James Embry, Billy Faust, and the lone female officer, Ginger LeBeau.K-Ville was shot on location in New Orleans. Jonathan Lisco, the series writer and executive producer, toured parts of New Orleans with actual New Orleans Police Officers before writing the pilot in hopes of making the series as real as possible.

Ugly Betty Thursday's 8PM ABC
Betty Suarez has always had one goal in life: to make it into the publishing business. Despite being smart, hard-working, and productive, her dream has always been shadowed by the fact that she isn't the best looking young woman. However, she is now determined to do whatever it takes to fulfill that ultimate dream.Ugly Betty stars America Ferrera in the title role. The show is based on the wildly popular Colombian telenovela which has already been successfully translated in Mexico, India, Russia, and Germany - all to stellar ratings.

I got pulled into this show this past weekend, watching the marathon of Ugly Betty. Now IM
HOOKED!!!!

24- Monday's 9pm FOX
24, last year’s most Emmy Award-winning television series with five Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Kiefer Sutherland) and Outstanding Drama Series, is one of the most innovative, thrilling and acclaimed drama series on television. Created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, the series will retain its unique and trend-setting format in the seventh season. Each episode will cover one hour of real time, and the season’s entire story will take place in one day. Once again, viewers will follow Jack Bauer through a day that none of them will ever forget.

This is a old favorite, I hope they speed things up a lil bit, after a few episodes where they didnt blow anything up, it got slow and kinda stale. Im fan, so I will still suffer through with it.

Speaking of blowing things up...am I the only one that watches Mythbusters???

Special Insight

When someone you know begins to act funny towards you unbeknownst to
you, do not get mad at them simply laugh because some mysterious are
made to be comical. If or when they bring their annoyance to your
attention, apologize for the offense you have made but not for the
person you are! If you treat people the right way in any relationship
there is no acceptable reason why it should end the wrong way. Often
situations are taken out of content and are taken too personally
because one person if not both parties are dealing with that particular
personal issue within themselves. Try not to be insensitive about another
person's sensitivity, for what may be a joke to you could be death to
someone else. Some opinions are portrayed as facts and often opinions
are portrayed as judgments, both are from a personal point of view.
Should you have to determine that you dislike someone be certain that
it is because of a personal experience for which it has forced you to
oppose being fond of the person. We are all born with ready made
personalities which may very well conflict with another individual, the
chance of this happening is the same as midnight becoming a new day.
Learn to give a person, as much as they give you no more or less, there
is nothing unfair about an even exchange. Accept people for the person
they portray themselves to be because if they do present themselves as
having two sides to their being, they are the one that are bound to one
day forgetting which side is real. Hopefully by the end you will have
determined which side it is. In a feud pay close attention to your
behavior not the behavior of the opposing team, do not allow them to
puppet your actions; you cannot out a fire with gasoline. Any
relationship worth fighting for is worth keeping, pick your battles
wisely otherwise you will end up in war with yourself. Whatever happens
just make sure it is what you wanted to do; let everyone else do them
and you do you. A person can use up a lot of energy trying to be
someone whom they are not unaware that it requires great strength to be who
they really are! HAPPY FRIDAY

The Angels

You are in your car driving home. Thoughts wander to the game you want
to see or meal you want to eat, when suddenly a sound unlike any you've
ever heard fills the air. The sound is high above you.

A trumpet? A choir? A choir of trumpets?

You don't know, but you want to know. So you pull over, get out of
your car, and look up. As you do, you see you aren't the only curious one.

The roadside has become a parking lot. Car doors are open, and people
are staring at the sky. Shoppers are racing out of the grocery store. The
Little League baseball game across the street has come to a halt.
Players and parents are searching the clouds. And what they see, and what you
see, has never before been seen.

As if the sky were a curtain, the drapes of the atmosphere part. A
brilliant light spills onto the earth. There are no shadows. None.
From every hue ever seen and a million more never seen.

Riding on the flow is an endless fleet of angels. They pass through
the curtains one myriad at a time, until they occupy every square inch of
the sky.

North.
South.
East.
West.

Thousands of silvery wings rise and fall in unison, and over the sound
of the trumpets, you can hear the cherubim and seraphim chanting, Holy,
holy, holy. The final flank of angels is followed by twenty-four
silver-bearded elders and a multitude of souls who join the angels in worship.

Presently the movement stops and the trumpets are silent, leaving only
the triumphant triplet: Holy, holy, holy. Between each word is a pause.
With each word, a profound reverence. You hear your voice join in the
chorus. You don't know why you say the words, but you know you must.

Suddenly, the heavens are quiet. All is quiet. The angels turn, you
turn, the! entire world turns and there He is. Jesus. Through waves of
light you see the silhouetted figure of Christ the King. He is atop a great
stallion, and the stallion is atop a billowing cloud. He opens his mouth, and you
are surrounded by his declaration: I am the Alpha and the Omega.

The angels bow their heads. The elders remove their crowns. And
before you is a Figure so consuming that you know, instantly you know: Nothing
else matters. Forget stock markets and school reports.
Sales meetings and football games. Nothing is newsworthy. All that
mattered, matters no more...for Christ has come.

Please let me know the exact time you read this. It is mystical--
honest.

This morning when the Lord opened a window to Heaven, he saw me, and he
asked: My child, what is your greatest wish for today?

I responded: "Lord please; take care of the person who is reading this
message, their family and their special friends. They deserve it and I
love them very much".

The love of God is like the ocean, you can see its beginnings but not
its end.

QUICKIE.

Some quick random thoughts:

Why when I get back to the office after only one day of being gone...people want to act a fool, and it takes 2 days to get caught up on email and stuff?

Why when I finally get my ipod, Apple wants to come out with another smaller & cheaper one? (you betta believe Im taking it back)

Why is it when I finally make reasonable attempts to leave the guilty pleasure alone, new ones pop up? Same script, different cast. Ive gotta believe that the problem is me.

Why is it that even though her husband died, and she really didn't want to be on this side of life, when she finally got her wish..I will still miss her?

I posted a new video, didja see it???

Did you all check how many days are left until my birthday?

Did you even try to look at my wishlist?

Ill see you people later...have fun! Look in the archives, there are some "best of" the kalamazoo vixen that you may not have seen.

Geriatric Conversation

I live in a condo high rise that is 90% occupied by people over 75. Many of my conversations are pleasant with my neighbors, I appreciate their wisdom and quirkiness. Today was no different as I was on the elevator to come back to work moments ago.

Lady: Ohh honey your shoes are cute! (I told y'all I was distractingly flyy)
Me: Thanks!
Lady: I don't like buying shoes this time of year.
Me: Why not? Now is the best time! Fall is coming up and the summer styles are on sale.
Lady: Baby, I don't buy green bananas at the grocery store. At 81 years old I don't know if Ill be around next summer to buy the summer styles now. Tee Hee
Me: *Blink*
The elevator dings signaling the ground floor.
Me: uhhh, have a good day!
Lady: You too sweetie!

Excuse me, how do you respond to that??? I know tomorrow is not promised to anyone, but she just made death seem so close.

Little Joke

A man went to the hospital to have his wedding ring cut off from his penis.

According to the Nurse attending, the patient's girlfriend found the ring in his pants pocket and she got so mad at him, she used petroleum jelly to slip the ring on his penis while he was asleep.

I don't know what's worse:

1) Having your girlfriend find out you're married.
2) Explaining to your wife how your wedding ring got on your penis.
3) Or finding out your penis fits through your wedding ring

BOOKSIGNINGS & BREECHES

Okay, so I went out for the first time by myself this weekend. We won't get into why I don't get out by myself more often, because trust me, it's only twisted in my mind.

Lets start out with whack azz Friday night. I got dolled up, super fine to go to this radio station free party for Steve Harvey that was in town this past weekend. It was at the Empire Room, which I realize is a pretty nice place if more people were there. I met nobody. I went early, stayed for about an hour, realized that I forgot my phone. Since Im literally down the street from my home I went back to retrieve it. By the time I got back and found a parking space 6 blocks from the venue the damn thing was over. The chick admiring my shoes was like, "yeah boo boo, (boo boo, WTF?) its over. The after party is tomorrow night at the Renaissance." I think she worked for the radio station. I'm looking at my watch its before 11pm. BOO.

Saturday morning I heard that Steve's bodyguard, Big Boom, wrote a book and is going to do a book signing over at the mall. In the true essence of Circle of Sisters Bookclub, I support all new authors so I got casually fine and went to the mall with the purpose of getting books. I will not walk past the Nine West store or Bakers, to the bookstore only!!!!

I was surprised to see that the title of Boom's book is "If You Want Closure In Your Relationship, Start With Your Legs" Very appropriate especially with love hangover experience. I was excited about my purchase of Boom's book and while I was waiting for him to arrive I was reading through the book. When they walked up and saw me reading Boom asked me if I liked what I was reading and of course, I was diggin' it.

But then Chad started talking. I looked up and this fine essence of a black man, but my eyes were primarily on this throat (pronounced: THOAT) I was going to offer him a cough drop or a peppermint because I thought maybe he was straining and in some kind of pain. Then I realized who he was, so I said "you're Tommy's intern!!" He said, "former intern." Whatever. I liked him. I needed to call my sister because no one would ever believe me when I said I heard the ultimate baritone voice. He talked to my sister and even she was asking me if that was real and to stop playing on her phone.

Boom signed my books and we chatted for a minute. He's soon to be my favorite author. I was happy. Oh, and by the way, Boom and Chad were clean as hale!!!! so I had to take some pictures.

Later that afternoon I went to the movies to see Talk to Me. Don Cheadle is the man. Wake-up Got Dammit! LOVE IT!!! Favorite line in the movie was when Dewey was telling Petey that they got the Johnny Carson Show and Petey's reply was "What its free pussy day today?.." I rolled.

Sunday I shoulda went to church, but instead I journeyed over to Ft. Bragg for the first time ever being on a military base. I didn't know that when you got to a military base it is worse than getting through an airport. I had to show all types of identification one of which being the registration of my car. It wasn't in its usual spot so Im trying to explain to the army man that my daddy taught me better, and I know that I should have those papers in my car, I just cant find them. He asked me what was I doing in Ft.Br.agg. I panic for no reason and with a careful arch of my back I begin to explain how I just travelled over an hour to get here, for a booksigning by Eri.c Jero.me Dick.ey. I didn't know it then but I know now that a pair of distractingly flyy double d's can breech the Uni.ted Sta.tes Arm.y security system. Those that know me understand that I have a love/hate relationship with my breasts. These girls came in handy cause I did not want to travel an 1½hrs without my books being signed. I went ahead to the booksigning where there were 100's of people waiting to get their Wal.king wi.th Ene.mies book signed. I was one of them. I thought we were going to be in a forum where he was also going to do a book reading. I enjoy those the most. However, we were in this Wal-Mart like facility where I was tempted to make some purchases that I didn't need. The lady that was standing ahead of me with her little girls told me that it was all tax free. (cue revelation music) Mr. Spoiler popped into my head reminding me of how much am I willing to spend to save $6.75. I resisted the urge to shop. Yay me! I spent my five minutes with the marketing genius who is EJD, and was on my way back home proud that I was out enjoying myself with myself.

If there is a cure for this, I don't want it...

Shoes, Shoes, Glooorious Shoes...

I recently had a conversation with a good friend of mine; we analyzed that I am not in a good place right now. Well, Im in the place where Ive been planted, but I have not started to grow. If that makes any sense.

So, what has been the cure for a love hangover??? SHOPPING. Shopping and getting shoes specifically. Its the only outlet that keeps my mind off of the events that are occuring. Im not shopping out of budget; bills are still getting paid, and money is still going into savings, so I have learned from my past by not getting into more debt. If you remember my 101 Things about Me #53 was that I have 117 pairs of shoes. Since then..that number has increased. Pictured above are the shoes that I have purchased in the last two months. Distractingly Flyy??? Yeah, I know. It's a problem nonetheless. Well, its a problem if I make it. If you notice, there are two pairs of shoes that EXACTLY THE SAME!!! just two different colors. Who, besides Oprah, does that???

This is my favorite shoe website: ENDLESS SHOES & HANDBAGS THESE SHOES ARE SICK!

Needless to say, I have put myself on punishment. I have to stay in the house for the next few weeks unless Im MAKING MONEY, or going out on someone elses expense.

So You Noticed...

The new look, new name...kinda a little transformation. The name will probably change again. Im not sure. The reason for the name change is because I was noticing that any title that begins with "Confessions of..." was admitting to some type of whoredome. Sheletha's Spot is kinda lame an unoriginal but it was the first thing I thought of at the time.

I changed the layout when I was playing in the settings, I didn't know what I was doing until after I was done. I like it.

Sorry I haven't posted anything lately. I really haven't had much to say recently. Life is just life right now, and I'm trying to regain some peace. I have a love hangover going on and I dont typically share such intimate details until 3 years after I have gotten over it, so don't look for that anytime soon. Just pray my strength, please. I need it.

STRONGER, WISER, BETTER...

I tried to tell y'all about Pastor Marvin Sapp's new CD "Thirsty" that was released a couple of weeks ago. It was prolly overshadowed with T.I vs T.I.P being released the same day. Hee Hee. Heres a video that was found Never Would Have Made It. I hope it ministers to you as much as it did for me when I first heard it.

Matt 13:24-30

On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan tree just inside the
cemetery fence. One day, two boys filled up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by
the tree, out of sight, and began dividing the nuts.

"One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me," said one boy. Several
dropped and rolled down toward the fence.

Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. As he passed, he thought
he heard voices from inside the cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure
enough, he heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me."

He just knew what it was. He jumped back on his bike and rode off. Just around
the bend he met an old man with a cane, hobbling along.

"Come here quick," said the boy, "you won't believe what I heard! Satan and
the Lord are down at the cemetery dividing up the souls."

The man said, "Beat it kid, can't you see it's hard for me to walk." When the
boy insisted though, the man hobbled slowly to the cemetery.

Standing by the fence they heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you,
one for me."

The old man whispered, "Boy, you've been tellin' me the truth. Let's see if
we can see the Lord."

Shaking with fear, they peered through the fence, yet were still unable to see
anything. The old man and the boy gripped the wrought iron bars of the fence
tighter and tighter as they tried to get a glimpse of the Lord.

At last they heard, "One for you, one for me. That's all. Now let's go get those
nuts by the fence and we'll be done."

They say the old man made it back to town a full 5 minutes ahead of the kid on
the bike.

LUKE 20:43

Toward the end of the church service, the minister asked, "How many of
you have forgiven your enemies?" About 80% held up their hands.
The minister then repeated the question and all responded by raising
their hands except one small, elderly lady.
"Mrs. Jones? Are you not willing to forgive your enemies?", the
minister asked.
I don't have any", she replied, smiling sweetly.
Mrs. Jones, that is indeed unusual. How old are you?"
Ninety-eight" she replied.
"Mrs. Jones, would you come down front and tell the congregation how a
person can live for ninety-eight years and not have an enemy in the
world?"
The little lady tottered down the aisle, faced the congregation, smiled
sweetly and said, "I out lived the bitches."

HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD

By Clark Soloman @ www.mybrotha.com

"But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of every woman is man, and the head of Christ is God." - I Corinthians 11:3

Some men misinterpret this and use it to take advantage of their wives. These men are distorting God's guidance in order to maintain some type of control over their wives and their households. But as Dr. Price points out -- only Christian men who are responsible and able to fulfill their spiritual duties can be "head of the house." If a man does not live as an example and is not spiritually guided, he cannot be in a lead position.

In no way, shape or form should a woman ever submit to a man who doesn't walk by Faith. No man, Christian or not -- has the power to force a woman to submit to him. Furthermore, submitting to a man should never involve control and manipulatio. Both the husband and wife should be submitting to each other.

"When Paul said a husband ranked over his wife, he meant that a husband is responsible for his wife. God is holding us husbands responsible for our wives. We are responsible for loving them, taking care of them, providing for them, and protecting them in the domestic environment," Price says.

It is important for men and women to remember that a husband does not come between his wife and God. A husband is not the spiritual head of his wife and he has no authority over her spirituality. The purpose of rank in the family, is to define responsibilities of man, woman, and child -- not to assert command or power over them.

SOME LADIES HAVE A PROBLEM WHEN IT COMES TO THE WORD: SUBMISSION. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? I THINK BECAUSE SINGLE BLACK WOMEN HAVE BEEN KEEPING IT TOGETHER FOR SO LONG BY THEMSELVES, THEY CAN'T RELEASE THAT RESPONSIBLITY AND LET THEIR EQUALLY YOKED MAN BE RESPONSIBLE. I AIN'T GOT THAT PROBLEM, BUT WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS???

GOLDEN LYRICS

This little chick's CD is SWEET!!! This is my favorite track off of her album "I AM" She's very mello, smooth singer reminiscent of a Sarah Vaughn or Etta James. This song is definitely a brides song if I have ever heard of one. Not that I want to be married, when I first heard it I knew this would be hot.

Her bio tells of her audition and signing with LA Reid & Babyface which is a wonderful collaborative duo for young singers, however their protege end up being bankrupt within a few years. I'm giving you the lyrics but you gotta hear the song. Simply Beautiful.

Take me back in the day when loving was pure
Love ain't going away, love is always secure
Life's not always perfect but love's always forever
Lets let true love connect lets try lasting forever

I'm so ready to love, I'm so ready to promise my all
I'm so ready to give til' the day that my life is no more
I'll be everything that this woman can possibly be
Cause I'm ready to be like the olden days when commitment was golden

Be the man of my dreams and get down on one knee, love
Say you'll be all I need and then ask me to marry you, my love
Lets take two golden bands and lets walk down the isle, love
I'll say I do and you'll say I do, make a golden commitment, oh

I'm so ready to love, I'm so ready to promise my whole all
and I'm so ready to give til' the day that my life is no more
I'll be everything that this woman could possibly be, yes I will
Cause I'm ready to be like the olden days when commitment was golden

Let's last forever (let's last forever)
No typical american shady love
Let's stay together (let's stay together)
Pray God smile upon ours

I'm so ready to love, I'm so ready to promise my whole all
and I'm so ready to give til' the day that my life is no more
I'll be everything that this woman could possibly be, yes I will
Cause I'm ready to be like the olden days when commitment was golden

I'm so ready to love, I'm so ready to promise my whole all
and I'm so ready to give til' the day that my life is no more
I'll be everything that this woman could possibly be
Cause I'm ready to be like the olden days when commitment was golden

Golden
Golden
oh oh my
Golden
Golden love
Cause commitment is golden
Mmm mmm

IM STILL A PISTON FAN...

...for at least another 5 years!!!!

DETROIT - Chauncey Billups signed a $60 million, five-year contract Wednesday with the Detroit Pistons, returning to the team he helped reach five straight conference finals.

The contract is worth $46 million guaranteed over four years and includes a team option for the fifth year.

Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said he was "very pleased" to have Billups back.

"We said from the beginning that re-signing Chauncey was our top priority, and now we can move forward knowing that Chauncey will continue to lead this team," Dumars told The Associated Press on Wednesday afternoon. "One of the toughest positions to fill in this business is the point guard position, and that's why it was imperative that we re-sign Chauncey."

Billups and the Pistons appeared to reach a win-win deal, because even though the All-Star was one of the NBA's top free agents this summer, other teams didn't seem to be willing or able to compete with Detroit's offer.

I feel liberated...

Hey Fam-

The last time I blogged to you all, I was telling you about the side hustle that finally got on my nerves. Rich claims that I have been threating to leave, but that isn't the case. Its at a mattress store and I typically would work over the weekends and twice during the week. Just enough to put some money in the savings for when I want to travel back to Michigan without cutting into my household expenses. Smart right?? The job is so easy because, I sit there and read, sometimes I fall asleep, I work alone so nobody bothers me. If I sell bedding, cool (mo money, mo money), if I don't its all good as well. Its all good when the majority of the time Im talking to crazies at the real job. The owner of the mattress store is a little crook to say the least. Since September there were five mattress stores in the city of Greensboro, now its only down to one. Why? because they never paid the leases to the buildings, so they have been evicted. They also have had their accounts frozen by the IRS so there were times where employees did not get paid. That was crazy because that was the only job for some and they couldn't pay their mortgage. One by one employees were quitting, and I couldn't agree more. The owner continued to lie about these investors that never came to pass. Why should they when the store lost its financial plan to finance people for bedding? I didn't leave, I was literally the last woman standing. They wrote me this sorry ass letter thanking my for my loyalty....whatever.

Fast forward to July 2007. My guilty pleasure told me he was coming into town to see me. A spur of the moment trip to NC from Detroit is kinda costly, but hey whattya do? I told the mattress people not to put me on schedule for the weekend, I wasn't going to be availible. The manager told me that he really needed me to work, but I told him I will not make him any promises. I talked to the guilty pleasure he indicated that he wouldn't be in town until late Saturday...Cool, I'll work. I told the mattress people that they have me on Saturday but count me out totally for Sunday.

Okay, Im already tired of explaining this story so long story short: the mattress people ended up giving me an ultimatum if I don't work on Sunday, don't come back at all. That was a B%ich move because I told them I was going to work 10 hours on Saturday, and "you know this job is extra, right?" Anyway, I found another part time gig making more money than at the mattress store that will start in August. (Ain't God good?) Saturday I waltzed into the store smelling good (i wanted to leave my essence)looking so fresh and so clean. I gave them my resignation letter and told them I don't really deal with ultimatums very well.

Honestly, they needed me more than I needed them.

It's Friday, I Just Got Paid...

...and Im 'bout to quit this side hustle that I've been doing on the weekends, cause they have truly worked a sistas nerves for the umpteenth time. Ill tell y'all next week if I actually do it.

Wishes & Blessings

Never put a wish bone where your backbone is suppose to be. If you do
not stand tall for what you believe in, then you will fall short of
getting what life has to offer you. Wishes are what you do hoping you
will receive what you ask for, but blessings are what you get from God
even if you don't ask for it. If it was not for the opportunist the
pessimist would not know what they are so unhappy about. Pay attention
to the words that are spoken to you and not the moving lips, focus on
the eyes of the person and not the looks they give you. When a person
had been betrayed you focus on the person and not the betrayal for this
may be just the person for once in their life acting like themselves
towards you. Focus on who they really are, because now you have seen who
they really are not. Rather than put all your trust in people, put all
the trust in yourself to co-sign that you are making the right decision
about people. Look up and straight forward as you walk the steps of life
because looking down will only guide you towards the destination of your
shoes. Everyday that allows the opening of your eyes should give you a
silent strict instruction for you to find something to be happy about.
Tomorrow should take you a step closer to a happier day, until it
becomes the happiest day of your life and then you repeat the cycle.
Life's recipe has an abundance of ingredients although you may leave out
something's in order to make it; it still will be the result of whatever
you intended to make of it. The possible takes preparation and
determination; the impossible may take more and a little longer time. A
person's determination of success results into success from
determination. Life comes in different shapes and sizes and its capacity
has many measurements, find your size and wear it well!

FAITH VS. CONTROL

Bishop E. Earl Jenkins

"If you give up your life for me, you will save it." Luke 9:24 CEV

When you obsess over problems instead of looking to God for solutions, the enemy will magnify your fears. If he can't get you to worry aboutthe present he'll remind you of everything that could go wrong in thefuture! Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "All I have seen, has taught me to trust God for all I haven't seen."

The last time you checked, wasn't God still bigger than any terrorist attack, financial disaster, illness, accusation, or mess you found yourself in? Well, He hasn't changed! David said, "He won't go to sleep...The Lord is...at your right side...[He] will...keep yousafe...wherever you go" (Ps 121:3-8 CEV); plus His angels are watching over you 24/7. It all comes down to faith vs. control.

You can struggle to handlethings on your own - or trust your Heavenly Father. That's the choice! It's not about 'blind faith,' it's about believing that God is who He says He is. And it's an issue you need to settle in your mind once and for all, because if you don't believe He wants only the best for you, you'll keep trying to run the show. Control isn't responsibility. Responsibility is doing your part by praying, obeying, and trusting God. Control is manipulating the circumstances to engineer the outcome you want. Jesus knows how we like holding on to things we're not wise enough tocontrol, so He said, "If you want to save your life, you will destroy it. But if you give [it] up...for me, you will save it" (Lk 9:24 CEV).

Bottom line - you either trust God or you don't!

Makes you say HMMMMM....

Just when I as about to shut down my confessions, here goes Diane with some honor. I'm delighted because I never realize how much of an influence is in my possession. Im doing things with fully knowing what Im doing. Ive been reading TD Jakes "Repositioning Yourself" and it has enlightened me on so many aspects of my life that I have been ignoring, such as this. This is just how God works..He has revealed to me some positivity and now it is my assignment to show Him that I will be responsible, because He is just so Faithful. So I am again, delighted for the confirmation of the "Thinking Bloggers Award"

NOW, TO ALL MY FANS......

U GOTTA HAVE BALLS...

A woman who ripped off her ex-boyfriend's testicle with her bare hands has been sent to prison.
Amanda Monti, 24, flew into a rage when Geoffrey Jones, 37, rejected her advances at the end of a house party, Liverpool Crown Court heard.

She pulled off his left testicle and tried to swallow it, before spitting it out. A friend handed it back to Mr Jones saying: "That's yours."

Monti admitted wounding and was jailed for two-and-a-half years.

'Pulled hard'

Sentencing Monti, Judge Charles James said it was "a very serious injury" and that Monti was not acting in self defence.

The court heard that Mr Jones had ended his long-term but "open relationship" with Monti towards the end of May last year.

The pair remained on good terms and on 30 May she picked him up from a party in Crosby and went back for drinks with friends at Mr Jones's house.

An argument ensued and Mr Jones said there was a struggle between them.

In his statement, Mr Jones said she grabbed his genitals and "pulled hard".

He added: "That caused my underpants to come off and I found I was completely naked and in excruciating pain."

The court heard that a friend saw Monti put Mr Jones's testicle into her mouth and try to swallow it.

She choked and spat it back into her hand before the friend grabbed it and gave it back to Mr Jones. Doctors were unable to re-attach the organ.

In a letter to the court, Monti said she was sorry for what she had done.

She said: "It was never my intention to cause harm to Geoff and the fact that I have caused him injury will live with me forever. I am in no way a violent person."

The letter added: "I have challenged myself to explain what has happened but still I just cannot remember. This has caused much anguish to me and will do for the rest of my life."

One Word

Okay I was extra bored today so you have 3 posts to fill you up.

I have a challenge for each and everyone of you to describe what you think you know of me in just ONE WORD.

Yes, this came to me in a email that nobody responded to, so I'm doing it all over again. Maybe this time someone will say something..anything.

How to Hear From God

But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth)....-John 16:13

Divine guidance is God's will for His children. We must believe that God does desire to speak to us and that we can hear from Him. One of the ministries of the Holy Spirit in our lives is to guide or lead us into God's will for us in each situation.

I don't believe that anyone immediately knows how to be led by the Spirit. We learn in these areas, and it takes teaching, studying, training, exercising, and making a few mistakes.

Making a mistake is not the end of the world; not learning from our mistake is a greater mistake than the original error.Have a pioneering spirit and be willing to learn. Here are some pointers that will help you:

1. Have regular prayer and fellowship time with God.
2. Be careful what you hear. Create an atmosphere that is conducive to hearing God.
3. Want God's will more than your own.
4. Know that God leads step-by-step. He often does not show you the entire plan at the beginning.
5. Be a thankful person.
6. Be led by peace and wisdom. The Holy Spirit desires to lead you into God's good plan for your life; He will speak to you, and you can hear Him.
