Farewell Paul Newman

This is something my sister Ruth would put on her post. She put Charlton Heston on her blog when he died. I've always liked Paul Newman. Here are a few facts about him if you didn't know this already...
1. Has been married to Academy Award winning actress Joanne Woodward since 1958 and once said to Hollywood, " I have steak at home. Why should I go out for hamburger?"
2. Founder of the Hole in the Wall Gang -it is a camp developed to provide children, ages 7-17, who battle chronic and life threatening illnesses with the opportunity to have a normal summer camp experience-primarily funded by his food products.
3. He was a director, producer, WWII veteran, race car driver, and owner of Newman's Own and they introduced their salad dressing first in 1982. They also make various other food products like salsa, pasta sauce, popcorn and lemonade. The profits after taxes are donated to charity.
4. Secretly hates salad dressing :)
One funny story: One time he went to one of his camps and sat down to eat next to the children and one kid looked at him, looked at his picture on the salad dressing bottle, and then said to him, "are you lost?"--cute huh? I love children. I've always thought that my Dad looked like him a little-What do you think?

Our 17th Anniversary

Lane and I met on a blind date set up by his brother Cory and my Mom. They worked together and Cory had seen me oneday and he asked my Mom about me and said his little brother Lane just got home a mission from Brazil, and if it was okay to give Lane my number. Cory called Lane and told him that he needed to call me. Lane did several times before he actually caught me at home. He was going to BYU at the time and whenever he came back into town (Sandy-Murray) he would call me. I think the first time he called my house to talk to me was in June and I wasn't home and he never gave up until finally we talked and he asked me out. We went out on his birthday, two days after Christmas. (I'm glad he never gave up calling me) I liked him from the start. I thought he was cute and lots of fun. We saw the movie "Dances with Wolves" and Lane ordered a huge jumbo popcorn and lots of candy etc...I thought to myself..."Where does it all go?" he has never changed with making you feel comfortable and still treats me like a princess. We dated and everything was great, my mind was focusing on the fact that I was going to go on a mission and I didn't think otherwise until one night Lane told me that he didn't want me to go! I loved him and wanted him to wait! I remember talking to my bishop about it because I didn't know what to do. I prayed about it and married him a week after my 21st birthday. We moved to California and my first calling in our ward was Stake Missionary.-kinda funny huh? I know that I made the right decision and can't believe how time flies...it seems like only yesterday that I was waiting for him to pick me up to get married in the Temple. I couldn't sleep all night I was so excited!
We got married on a weekday and there was only 2 weddings that day. So it felt like we had the Temple to ourselves. The only bummer was that they were remodeling the Temple and there was scaffolding on one whole side and so I couldn't get a good picture of us with the Temple in the background without seeing the construction. My Grannie flew over from Scotland and had arrived just as we were walking out. This picture makes me happy and sad. Happy because I was glad to see her, sad because she wasn't a member and so she didn't get to see me get married and traveled such a long way for it. I'm mad at myself that I didn't do a ring ceremony or something for her.
She died the next year-until we meet again!
This is Lane and I in Scotland.
I loved taking him to all the places that I loved and played as a child. I Love my Sweetheart! Here's to many more years to come!!!

Ward Camp Out - Mabbs Ranch

We finally went to our ward camp out! We've always had something going on-usually soccer- and none of my kids are playing this season.
At last years general conference one of the speakers said that sometimes we do too much and need to not have so many things on our plate... and I felt that he was talking directly to us because every soccer season our lives are crazy and I felt we needed a break.
So, we finally had a chance to go-yeah!
This is us getting ready to go.
Everybody was fasinated by the catterpillars! Lane and Marcus hangin' out. Eating Fajita's
Playing around with my camera-Psychedelic!
Sabrina-torching her marshmellow
see...yum!
Logan held his stick so far back it was pretty funny-he was afraid to get too close. He had that same marshmellow the whole night. He gave it to Lane and when he put it in his mouth, it was full of dirt.
They loved the tent trailer-they had dibbs on who was going to sleep where.
Hangin' with the Anderson's, Barton's, Heaps, and Ridgway's.
Goofy Girls!
Breakfast Burritos the next morning. Very Yummy!
I love my boy!
Ty Ty's clean face
Logan loved being by the fire pit.-here he is hangin' out with the Big Boys!
Addi, Whitney, and one of the Stone twins :)
There were a lot of dogs-my kids loved it.
Brittany and Brittney
Having a Blast!
So Clean!!!
"I don't want to go"
My kids participated in an "Amazing Race" that is put together by the Tate's. It was fun to watch and everyone is very competitive. They have to eat disgusting things like crickets, pigs intestines etc... Sabrina was happy that she didn't have to.
