Yesterday ubilam fell down four flights of stairs.. luckily he was unhurt but the whole incident, witnessed by me, was horrific because I felt helpless as he rolled down the stairs like a doll.. static je badan dia.. kesian, nangis tp dia Alhamdulillah tough boy, so lps nenen, ok.. today all smiles.. so now worries..


Everybody kept asking me what's the meaning of ubilam.. initially i used to rhyme his name, baby qil, ubilam qil.. but ubilam has another meaning, diam2 ubi, dlm ada isi.. kalau tgk dia jenis shy and quiet, tp bila dah jalan2, mcm2 activity dia.. panjat rail, panjat meja, ambik barang, main lego.. mmg unsangkarable dgn orgnya yg agak pendiam.. :) .. even when i got back from campus today, Abg Yoh commented "hari ni aqil mcm2 project, ambik racket, ambik pipe handyman etc".. hehehe.. itulah ubilam..


Skrng ni he's adjusting to life here. It's not just that me had to adjust, he is trying to make sense of this new environment too. Tapi kesian, sbb dia boleh sense when i'm going to campus, so he will cry until i sit with him, and if i move, he will scream and cry mcm at lost.. and when i sit beside him, dia akan pegang my baju as if takut i will lari elsewhere..


But thank you Ubilam for understanding Ummi.. as much as it is a new experience for me, you have made it easier.. bila penat balik kampus, lega dpt tgk muka dia..

2 Birthdays and An Anniversary..

25th February.... we celebrate 2 birthdays and 1 anniversary..

Wishing Abah a very Happy Birthday.. semoga panjang umur murah rezeki..

and to my sis in law, Kak Diny, also a Happy Birthday and to K Diny and Abg Dy, selamat menyambut ulangtahun perkahwinan ke 13.. may this day be a joyous occassion for all of you..

Kareem and Urwah's Day of Fun

we had visitors last week.. my good friend Dr Abdul Kareem and his wife, Dr Urwah and their 2 cute boys... i have known kareem from my toddler days and he's my brother's best friend.. now doing mph at lshtm..

so when abah came, he jumped at the chance to come down here to see abah and pick up his kiriman from Malaysia..

the next day, after a heavy breakfast of nasi lemak, we went to Royal Holloway.. thank you Kak Izan for the warm hospitality and bringing us to the beautiful Uni.. some pix to enjoy..

Welcome to Oxford

As i wrote in in my previous post, my beloved dad is in UK for his collaborative work with a few lecturers from uni in M'sia and Oxford Uni. I picked up my dad at the airport at 6am on Sunday and masa tu memang sejuk gila. Weather forecast predicted that it will snow heavily on Monday so memang sunday tu dah drizzle sikit2..

bila abah sampai rumah abg yoh kt Egham, dah sedia nasi lemak, swiss roll, grapes and hot tea.. we tucked in for breakfast but before that i took the liberty of opening up my goodies from M'sia.. wah menjerit kegembiraan bila dapat ikan bilis, cili kering, laksa, serai, bunga kantan, keropok, Milo 3 in 1, ikan bilis sambal Mama, maggi, bihun (hehehe..mcm kebulur je).. tapi memang seronok sgt sbb rindu dekat tanah air tercinta plus its wonderful food.

and thank you to Abah sebab susah2 tolong bawakan, and to my dearest Abang tolong belikan my lipgloss which i love so much and Aqil love the cranberry n apple nestum.. senyum2 bila makan..

that evening after rugby, we sent abah to Oxford Uni.. along the 1 hour journey, we were greeted by snow.. takut jugak kereta boleh skid, so bwk steady je.. and bila sampai Said Business School, rupanya abah ada dinner with the hosts.. and we were also invited. They set 3 extra sittings and we had dinner, halal, courtesy of Oxford Uni..

starter mushroom tart.. the pastry was light.. and main course was cod fillet with potato cream cake and asparagus.. this was so delicious and i loved it.. dessert was choc, dates and macademia nut cake with caramel sauce.. tp i was full already so i had a bit.. wonderful hospitality..

and we sent abah to his room.. it's like a lodge with individual rooms kitchen, etc and bilik dia memang best.. katil dia fluffy with padded tilam, flat screen tv, beautiful bathroom and pantry dia besar.. bestnya..

so we got back at around 9 or 10.. tgk2 around.. Oxford is so beautiful.. campus dia traditional but well kept.. and we also went to take some pix.. yelah, bukan senang nak masuk Oxford.. hehehehe..

Laksa Biaksa

Laksa biaksa in the making... siapa nk recipe can write in.. hehehe..


After seeing pictures of Irfan's birthday laksa, i suddenly developed a craving for laksa kedah/penang (which one is the one without petis and nenas??).. mana nak cari laksa kat UK ni.. so when i got to know my father is coming for his work with Oxford University, i took the chance to order all the laksa stuff (bunga kantan, daun kesum, serai, cili kering, laksa mee etc).. and today after a trip to the hospital for my ultrasound, i made laksa...

guna ikan sardine (fresh) and mackerel.. my sis in law suggest tuna tp i tak biasa so tak berani lagi.. maybe next time.. penat but it's definately worth it.. see the pix..

Snow in UK

aqil goes on an adventure...

Two weeks after i arrived, little did i expect to see snow, let alone the heaviest snow in 18 years. People here were grumbling because all forms of transportation was suspended, jalan jam teruk, banyak casualty, hospital tak boleh jalan as usual, ambulance x boleh get through.. but whatever it is, we just love snow.. see for yourself...

feel like a kid again.. Aqil siap makan snow lagi.. suka sangat ais batu.. ddk atas snow and munch snowballs.. sampai the neighbour asked him "is this ur first snow?"... hahahaha.. kelakar si comel sorang ni.. and he kept on pulling my hand ajak gi luar nak main snow.. sabar sayang, ummi nak pakai coat dulu..

as a result, 2 days sekolah tutup.. tomorrow baru nak pergi balik campus.. hari ni keluar jalan licin.. kena careful betul and wear the right shoe...they say thursday akan snow lagi.. let's hope the weather gets better...
