My Twins Birth Story (A work in progress)...

Well, I never did get around to writing about my boys' birth last year. So, as the boys first birthday creeps up on me, I decided...better late than never right? So, here is what I remember and/or had written in my pregnancy book:

Tuesday, October 20th around 8pm or so, I decided I wanted to have one last hoorah at Chuck-A-Rama (not like I had any room in my belly) to have my "last supper"! I wasn't in the mood to make dinner, and apparently neither was Jake haha. So we stopped by Chuck-A-Rama on our way home from my parents house after my 11 year old sister Tiana painted my toenails. I was beginning to think that the contractions were unusually strong. I'd been having contractions every 2-3 minutes since I was like 22 weeks, so that was pretty normal...but the strength of them is what made me wonder.

Walking up to the booth, I went to sit down and realized MY BELLY DIDN'T FIT behind the table! LOL...that wasn't too unusual since my belly pressed up against the steering wheel in my VW Jetta pretty bad at that point that it was pretty uncomfortable to drive. Dinner was pretty uncomfortable. I remember my OB making fun of me for not having my bags packed all the way yet. He had said my "baby A's" bag of water was right there, ready to break!

I don't remember much of what I did when I got home, just that I kept wondering if "this could really be it". I talked to my mom on the phone hoping she could be psychic for me I guess LOL. She just told me to try to sleep it off and I would know if I needed to go in if I woke up in the middle of the night in labor. So I timed my contractions and they were pretty consistently ______ minutes apart, and I was pretty sure that they felt different than the ones I had been feeling. The other thing, is that usually when I was up doing things I would contract, but once I would lay down for a while, they would go away. Well, they didn't. They continued all night. I remember trying to sleep in between them, then hitting the start button on my Contraction Master in my sleep!

After not much sleep I decided to just finally get up and finish packing my bags. I called and talked to labor and delivery at about 9am and (probably since I had twins) they told me to at least come in and be checked. Which is what they usually told me when I called. So, I figured I would go in and be checked, then go home and continue laboring there. It wasn't much longer than 2 or 3 hours that I realized...once I got to the hospital, I probably wouldn't be leaving. So, I continued packing things (in slow motion, in between really, really strong contractions) and checking my 5 million lists to make sure everything was ready to go! Ya know...ya gotta do that last minute leg shave! (Boy I'm pretty sure that was quite a feet!) I was SO huge at this point. I even tried to lay my head off the arm of the couch so that Jake could blow dry my hair for me. Well that didn't end up to be very comfortable either!

Around 2-something pm, we headed over to my sister Lora's house to drop off my daughter. I had been leaking water since that morning (quite an odd sensation for me, every time I contracted) so I figured there was no turning back now. At my sisters house I tried (in between several contractions) to apply my "waterproof" mascara, and had my sister do my hair. At this point, the contractions were REALLY strong! Like, "have to stop what you're doing, including talking...brace yourself...and breath" kind of contractions. I remember feeling so sad because I had never left my daughter overnight with anyone before, and with all the H1N1, swine flu stuff, the rules were very strict at the hospital and she would not even be able to come and visit unless she just wanted to look at me and the babies through the window. Well, I figured that would totally upset and confuse her, so I knew I would not be seeing her for a couple days. I guess children just "know" when something is going to happen...Well, I just wanted cry because she was usually such a mama's girl, but for some reason, she would not stand there for one last picture or give me a hug and kiss goodbye. It still breaks my heart just thinking about it.

Jake kept saying the whole time I was trying to get ready..."let's go, let's go, we need to get to the hospital"! I'm like, "why...so I can sit in a hospital bed and be bored? No thanks"! So I believe we headed over to the hospital around 3:30 or so. We waited in the waiting room FOREVER for someone to come check us in. I had to have my temperature and all sorts of things checked (something else to do with the H1N1 thing). The girl asked what symptoms I was having as she gave me my hospital gown to change into to see if I was really in labor. I told her I thought my water had started leaking since that morning and that the contractions were pretty strong and how far apart they were. She didn't seem too convinced when she left the triage room and it was dead silent in there, with NO staff around for over 30 minutes! I was just about to send my husband out to look for someone when a nurse finally came in. It seemed like the other CNA girl had told her that "I thought I was in labor". Well...once I told her the whole story, she said she wanted to check me before trying to hook me up to 2 baby heart rate monitors AND a contraction monitor (which is also usually quite a feet)! Well, her next words to me were, "Oh honey, you're not going anywhere. Let's go see if we can find you a nice room with a view. You are almost at a 7."

So behind!!!

I have been SO busy with my photography stuff (stmphotos.blogspot.com) that I have hardly had time to blog my own family stuff. I guess it seems that a lot of people keep up with me on facebook anyway. Well, while I have a few short minutes, let me just update on a few things.

The boys just turned 10 months the other day!!!

It's hard to believe that it has been that long. Really I don't even remember the first 6 months or so very well, so hopefully their baby books are caught up LOL.

My little Malakai!

Mr. McKade!

Aw, brotherly love!

Other news? Well, McKade got one of his front teeth on Jake's 26th birthday, Monday, August 16th. and the other front tooth came in on Saturday, August 21st (the day he turned 10 months). Fun stuff! (Well, that night sure wasn't much fun...for me OR him!)

As for Malakai, he is pretty much ALL over the place, and I swear he will be walking by his first birthday, which is new territory for me!

The boys are so funny though. They will often hold hands in the stroller or in their highchairs, and other than gouging out each other's eye balls every now and then, and playing tug of war fighting over a toy, they seem to be pretty good friends. We have been finding them lately when they are "supposed" to be napping...that they are just sitting there "blabbin'" away to each other. It usually starts out cause McKade crawls over and pulls down the bumper inside his crib so he can peek into Malakai's crib and talk to his brother, haha. It's pretty funny! (Not to mention, SO cute!)

Marshae had her first dentist apt. (which I have been meaning to schedule since she was 18 months!) Lucky for us...she had great teeth and NO cavities. She did SO good too...the dentist asked to see her pretty teeth and she immediately smiled while batting her eye lashes at him, haha. I totally assumed that she would freak out at the dentist and cover her mouth or something, but she just sat there with her mouth wide open. It was great!

Watching a movie, waiting for the dentist...

My good little girl!

Anyway...that's all that has been happening over here. It's been kinda crazy...and all three of the kids are growing like weeds! ...Until next time!

Malakai learned to clap today!

So Malakai learned to clap today...it was so cute and Marshae thought it was SO awesome! She was laughing hysterically! So I will get a picture of that up soon, but for now...here is what else he learned how to do at dinner tonight!

Our first baseball game!

So today we went to the roadrunners' baseball game with Marshae, Malakai & McKade tonight! Marshae (and DADDY) had SO much fun! She kept  saying "I have fun at the baseball game mommy!" It was so cute. Well, it got a little too hot (at 102) for mommy and boys...so we went to the store while daddy and Marshae stayed to watch the game and have some daddy / daughter time. It was great, she was in bed trying to sing "take me out to the ballgame" LOL. Aw, I love being a mom!

My Garden Is Flourishing!

So I decided to try to plant a garden this year again...here are some pictures of our first fruits! (Well & vegetables LOL)

Our fist teeth:

So McKades was easy to catch cause he has this big wide open mouth smile LOL. Malakai on the other hand was like pulling teeth! LITERALLY! He does the same thing his sister does...sticks his tongue out any chance he gets. SO, mommy had to help a bit to be able to see his cute little teethers! But alas, here they are:

Almost 7 months and first teeth!!!

Everything has been so crazy lately and I have been so busy with my photography stuff that I have not even had a moment to put anything on my family blog! And even now, I don't have much time but I just wanted to update a few things. The boys have both gotten their first 2 teeth (on the bottom) same ones first LOL. They will be turning 7 months tomorrow!!! I cannot even believe how time flies!

Marshae is 2 1/2 and is SO stinkin smart! The other day she was telling me what sounds each letter makes. She recognizes several words also (probably at least 25 or more). She is crazy genius, it's cute. She is SO fascinated with letters, words and numbers, it's ridiculous!

Where has the time gone?!

I cannot believe my little ones are already 5 months old! Makes me a little bit sad, but they are so fun to watch as they grow. I feel like it has been so long since I posted on this blog! Mommy has been busy with her photography (unfortunately for the kids, and probably my husband too LOL).

My newest project...FINALLY finished!

So I thought I was wanting to making these carseat canapies LOL...I thought wrong. For some reason it required quite a bit of ironing...which I hate by the way. Anyway, I kept putting them off and putting them off, and I finally finished them after getting the project out a million times. So here they are:

And we have a winner!

So we decided to have a twin zygosity test done for the boys. And the results are (drum roll please)......... Identical...better stated: Monozygotic Twins (since my boys don't look "exactly" the same to me). We didn't really care whether they came from one egg or two. Either way, they are individually the most awesome sons a mother could ever hope for. And of course Marshae is the most awesome daughter a mother could ever have ;) It was just driving me nuts NOT knowing! I know...I'm lame LOL

Malakai

McKade

She learns from the best...

So Marshae decided to get into mommy's makeup today! It was just one of those things when it suddenly dawned on me that she must ACTUALLY watch what I do, cause apparently she knew exactly where to put the mascara. Kinda reminds me to always set a good example and do those things that I want my children to watch and emulate.

This is Marshae "batting" her eyelashes at me when I asked her what she was doing LOL.

My precious boys' baby hands and feet:

So I have this great friend named Rachel P. who helped me do these fabulous foot and hand molds. I tried to do them myself several times to no avail! Anyway, for as squirmy as the little dudes were...they turned out pretty good! I love them! I am going to put them in a little shadow box with their newborn beanies, etc. So I will post pics when I finish that. Here are the molds for now:

Oh...and don't pay attention to the fuzziness of the pictures. My camera is broken so I had to take these with my cell phone.

Aren't the little wrinkles and dimples in his hands so cute?! Haha...I love it. And now I will get to see and remember them forever!

My homemade purse organizer insert:

So I decided to make a purse organizer insert after getting SO tired of digging through the black hole in my diaper bag/handbag. Plus I get tired of transferring everything when I want to switch bags, etc. etc. etc. And since leaving my house is like packing for a vacation, I decided I needed to do something to make things a little easier. There is so much stuff I need to have with me pretty much at all times. Here are the things I HAVE to have in my bag: 10 size 1 diapers (5 for each baby), 3 Marshae size diapers, wipes, nursing cover, spare pacifiers for each baby (plus pacifier wipes), documents (insurance cards/immunization cards, etc.), my glasses case, cell phone, day planner, baby meds and extra emergency onesies. SO...I almost bought one of these things online for like $20 but then I thought...why don't I make one that fits each of my items exactly? So I measured each item and ran off to the store for my white vinyl and zebra print fabric (which just happens to match my wipe container...totally didn't realize until I was almost done. How convenient LOL). It took me about 2 or 3 hours on a not so industrial sewing machine and I about broke my needle several times but here is what I came up with!

So...all of my bags already have a pocket for my cell phone and at least one other little pocket where I can put like the babies meds (infant tylenol, colic tablets, etc.) and then, I just wind my organizer however I want and make it so there is a space in the middle or side where I can easily slide in my day planner and a few extra onesies and burp cloths.

So now I can just re-fill everything once I get home from an outing and any time I want to switch bags I just pull out the insert and throw it into the other bag...it's working out pretty great so far!
