We've got another fish!

Emily said she wanted to swim this winter, so we put her in the swim school we love! It took her a couple weeks to advance to the next class. Just had to get the breathing to the side down. Now they're working on butterfly and breaststroke! I'm going to have two kids that swim better than me a in a matter of months! Here's a link to her graduation announcement!

Thanksgivng vs. Christmas

Dorothy Marie thinks that Christmas is better than Thanksgiving because at Christmas you get prizes and on Thanksgiving you just eat! She also said that it takes a really long time for Santa to come because he lives really far away like Utah. Well, she says, he doesn't actually live in Utah, but far away like Utah. I love breakfast conversations with my 5 year old!

We had a great Thanksgiving day. It was the first year we were totally and utterly alone. We were planning on going to Utah and then Brent was informed he needed to stay and work this weekend. I was so sad that I was going to miss family and good times, but it turned out okay and really low key which was fun!

I cooked dinner, almost all of our favorites. My kids ate turkey and mashed potatoes, but Brent and I had stuffing, yummy yams, and Grandma's Pink Salad! We had pumpkin and apple pie. And I even made little pumpkin parfaits in the parfait glasses grandma Clarke had given me awhile back. We used Great Grandma Anderson's beautiful blue bowls for pink salad and M&M's.

Marie stayed home while Brent took the older girls to the park and she helped me set the table with place cards, written by her, napkins folded, scarecrow place decor and a cute little turkey at every place setting!

After dinner we went to see Tangled in 3-D! Too much fun. When all the little kids reached out their hands to grab the lanterns that were little floating into our faces I thought I might cry! It was adorable. Cute movie, cute family, great Day! Wish we could have been with family, but it was the best day minus that!

Dorothy Marie

I can't believe my baby turned 5. We had such a great few days to celebrate her birthday. This will be part 1 or 2 or 3 or more. She is my baby after all. Marie came into this world 2 hours and 40 minutes late according to me! I always wanted a Halloween baby, so this year her b-day fell on Monday, so the weekend before was Halloween! We had a costume party at our house and had a great time with a few little friends who came. I had asked a friend I work with to do the cake for the party! As you can see from the picture, it was awesome! Down to the glitter on the fairy witch's wings! Carmen is amazing and the cake was the centerpiece of the weekend for days! It was a packed few days as Halloween is for most!

Thursday was trunk-or-treat!
Friday Marie got to dress up for the costume parade at school!
Saturday was her birthday costume party!
Sunday was official trick-or-treating which she didn't miss out on!

The Electra...

So, I start celebrating my birthday usually the day after Brent's. Yes, his birthday is about 7 weeks before mine. I just can't help myself. I'm a bit on the selfish side...but this year I had been eyeing a bike. I am determined to be more active and to have my kids be active with me! So I wanted a bike, and I wanted a cute bike! Brent and I had test drove many of them in the store on date night, and I knew which one I wanted. The orange striped electra with a basket to carry my new puppy...(little did we know she would jump out and almost get run over on the maiden voyage - the basket has remained unused since!)

So here it is my bike, that I got about a month early, because who wants to ride a bike in Arizona the end of May or for the four months that follow, so I had to use it for a few trips before it got too hot! I'm eyeing it in the garage every day and thinking it's just about biking weather again!

The cute boy that bought me my bike!

Oh my Dorothy Marie...

This little girl is just too much fun! I love having her at school with me this year and am so glad I made the decision to send her to Kindergarten early....she is such a hoot and full of personality. She can be the sweetest and the not so sweetest kid ever. She loves to hang out with me after school in the library, although riding the bus home is a favorite too and sometimes a hard decision to make, stay with mom, or ride the bus with Hannah....most days the bus wins!

Her teacher has been absolutely wonderful with her. Every day after school if the student stay on Green all day, then they get a "smelly". Well, one day I got an email during the day from Marie's teacher saying she punched a girl at recess and so she was moved to yellow and that she was very upset. I emailed back saying thanks and I'm glad she can learn these lessons when she's young, I'll make sure and be oh so sad....

When she got to me in the library I asked to smell her smelly, which I knew wasn't there. Then she proceeded to tell me in many more details then you all care to hear that the kids lied to Mrs. Tapia, she' didn't punch the girl. So I kept asking questions and trying to find out a little more. In the end the comment came out, "mom, I didn't punch her I pushed her!" So although she was not happy with the choice of words used and that the other kids who tattled messed them up, we had to have a discussion that even pushing isn't okay, even when the little girl kicks over your sand castle! Ah life lessons of Kindergarten, I LOVE them and can't wait for more! Needless to say she hasn't missed a smelly since!

Hanging out in the library!

Knights and Princesses

Leave it to Grandma Vicki to be able to come up with shields and crowns for our Knights/princesses and other medieval characters. The cousins had a great time playing with each other this summer at grandma's house!

Hannah's Birthday - better late than never

Hannah and Grandpa Bobby

So, I'm blogging out of order and now I'm on to Hannah's 10th birthday. We celebrated in Utah and had a great time. She asked for an ipod instead of a birthday party with friends, and we delivered! I can't believe how old she is getting and how nice it is to have her around! She is such a big help and I wouldn't function most days without her. She is even getting to be a great babysitter so Brent and I usually get a weekly date night now even if just to dinner! This isn't I guess a classic blogger bday post because I'm just posting pictures of this year and not all years. Happy Birthday Hannah!
Books - Hannah's favorite! She's my reader! Sometimes at night I have to tell her to turn off her light and stop reading. I've even taken her books away as punishment! What a great kid!
