Caramel Apples

So I've always wanted to make caramel apples from scratch. Candy making has never been something I was good at, but I finally decided to give it a try. 11 apples & 4 batches of caramel later, I think I finally mastered it.

Attempt #1 & #2

This was the batch where I followed the directions exactly...it looks like CRAP & tasted just about the same.

Attempt #3

So this one was better, but looks are deceiving...the caramel was too hard & really, really, REALLY chewy. Not good for your teeth at ALL!!

Attempt #4

Finally!!! This was what I was waiting for! The caramel was soft & PERFECT! Now I just need to decide how to put some toppings on it & I could sell these things for like $10! Just kidding, I could never get into it that much. YAY for caramel apples!!

Conference

You may be wondering why I titled this Conference but have the Glee logo above. Well, let me explain.


At the beginning of this month Carla and I watched the 180th Annual General Conference, as I am sure many of you did as well. While watching it we both felt impressed during Elder Packer's talk, especially his remarks regarding the media although, we didn't share it with each other at the time. Later that week Carla finally got up the courage to talk to me about it. She said that she thought that Glee wasn't the best show to be watching especially after the episode we watched the week before. I don't know how many of you watch it but it was the Britney Spears themed episode. It was absolutely DISGUSTING, well at least in our opinion it was. We should have turned it off but didn't, and paid for it later.

We have never experienced this before. We try not to watch appalling things and this totally appalled us. However, when I discovered this show I loved it and there are many things about it that I still do. For instance I love many of their musical selections especially when the Glee Club went to sectionals and Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) sang Don't Rain On My Parade. Classic. I got chills when I watched that scene.

But what to do? We haven't watched it since and were thinking about never watching it again. But, now we are thinking of screening the episodes before hand. For instance, by watching the preview for the Britney Spears episode we pretty much knew that we weren't going to like it. So we have almost decided that we will both watch the preview and determine if it is worthy of our time. . . and the Rocky Horror Picture Show themed episode I heard coming up probably won't be.

So, we have started a blog. We have been debating about it because we feel our life is fairly dull however, even the fairly dull ordinary days deserve some mention. So here goes and who knows maybe something exciting will happen.
