Bella's 1st Birthday

We have lived to tell the tale. The tale of one little girl's first birthday party at a local indoor playground, otherwise known to adults as "Lord of the Flies - revisited."

After much deliberation and research, we decided to hold Bella's first birthday party at Kin-R-Gee, a new indoor playground near my parents' house in Richmond Hill. We took Bella there once a couple of months ago and she loved it. Although it was a little pricey for my liking, we caved and took on the role of indulgent parents (just this once?).

The playground had everything - huge colourful slides, motorized vehicles, a three little bears house, a trampoline, and even a large infant area for babies Bella's age. We invited 12 other kids - mostly cousins and friends - to partake in the madness. We also invited a couple of "child-free" adult friends to come but warned them to take an aspirin (or five) before entering.

Auntie Edwina and Auntie Aimee made this amazing ladybug birthday cake with little sunflower cupcakes. The staff at the playground thought we bought it and asked where we got it from. I immediately jumped on the opportunity to tell them that the aunties made it and that she takes orders! ha ha.

Of course, Bella didn't know it was her birthday. Nor was she aware that her little friends were there (but then again, some of her little friends didn't know that she was there either! too small). But we had a great time.

Good thing, this only happens once a year!
