a big birthday

reese turned eight this year. i typically alternate years that i do birthday parties so that i am not doing 4 birthday parties a year. last year reese was supposed to have hers but since i was very pregnant i promised that we would do one this year instead. she decided that she wanted to roast hot dogs, marshmallows & sit around the campfire. at first i started browsing pinterest & found all these totally cute outdoor party ideas. then i decided these were going to have fun regardless if it was fancy schmancy & they wouldn't appreciate the extra work. so i didn't do anything fancy schmancy & it was awesome!! they all loved roasting hot dogs & marshmallows. we painted fingernails & played baseball. it was really fun & am so glad the weather was decent. she is such a great girl. love her SOOO much!!

2012 graduate

she finished kindergarten!! apparently the ceremony wasn't stimulating enough for evb. later found out that she was very fevered & not feeling well. :(

 i was cooking dinner one night & evb wanted me to hold her....i told her she had to wait & she melted onto the floor. i continued to stir the pan & a few minutes later i realized she hadn't made a peep. sure enough, she was zonked.

utah here we come.....for good.

so, the words "i was born in utah, i will live in utah & i will die in utah" are becoming a reality. we are moving back to utah at the end of the month for good this time (we hope).

quarry speech

this won't make sense to anyone who has not read "the princess academy". 


a few months ago i started to read to my girls every night at bedtime. it has been especially helpful in getting evb to settle down to fall asleep. we recently finished a book called "the princess academy" where a girl grows up in a rock quarry. in the quarry the workers are about to speak to each other without words, a kind of telepathic speech. so the other day, reese got all excited when she & charley were sitting on the couch.

"mom! mom! guess what?  i just quarry spoke to charley!"

"really? how?"

"well, i wanted her to turn on the tv so i wouldn't have to get off of the couch, so i quarry spoke to her & then she got up & turned it on!"

i'll just let her think that she had such cool capabilities. :)

what she said this morning....

"mom, guess who i love?.....you!"

"we can only have one boy in our family because if we had two, they would fight."  hmm.....
