Rigby City Park

Jared and I have been married now for almost 13 years and in the small town of Rigby, ID there are still things I've not seen or visited.  One of which is the Rigby City Park.  I may be lying in saying I've never been there because technically I think I have, but it's been a good few years and kids ago.  I'm remembering dutch oven and maybe a Ward/Family picnic, I'm not sure.

So this is a WWI gun thing.  Now just a climbing place for the kids, but with cool plaques to read and learn about.
Aspen of course on the top most part.  Jared was trying to poke her.
Coolest, hugest rings ever.  Sicily thinking she's bigger than she is.
And Aspen at it again.  She never ceases to amaze me.
London was bored out of his mind so Jared and I challenged him to a swinging contest.  I totally won but then had to take some photos (and I was getting sea sick) so here's proof that London came in 2nd.
Whoo whoo those are some dirty little feet Phoenix.
 Hello down there Phoenix.
No one would play tag with Aspen so I jumped in.  Notice I'm wearing shoes for about 30 seconds.
Then the shoes got ditched because Aspen's a bit faster than I thought she'd be.
Tag Aspen!  You're it.  Toes work just as good to tag someone as hands do, and with longer legs it's easier to get away afterwards.

On the Road Again

Heading south for a summer vacation to family we found it was getting hotter and hotter.  So DQ ice creams were in order.  Jared loves when the kids get it all over their faces.

Skate Park

We recently discovered the joys of our local Skate Park.  So much fun.  London's there in the back in the black shirt catching some air.
Phoenix and London having a race down the hill, up the hill, down the hill and back up the hill.
Sadly enough, for Phoenix, London won.  But his legs are just a bit longer on the updraft.
Sicily thought she was hot stuff.  Zipping around as quick as she could.  I, on the other hand, had to keep a close eye on her to make sure she didn't get run over by all the big kids.  She wasn't too good at paying attention to who was coming her way.
Whoa!  That's a mighty big hill.  I actually chickened out from riding the scooter down it.  Maybe on my bike I would have tried, but it didn't fit in the back of the mini van with all the other stuff.
Aspen thought it'd be great fun to do roller blades instead of a bike.  We barely got there and she wiped out on a guard rail and earned herself a monster bruise on her thigh.  These paths are supper slick cement, next time we come she wants to bring her scooter or bike and not her blades.

4th of July

Our 4th of July is different every year because we always seem to be living in a different country.  But you still have to bust out the Red, White and Blue no matter where you live.

We started our day with yummy strawberry/blueberry French Toast.  Yumm-o!
Next we did a bit of arts and crafts and made these wind socks out of plastic table clothes and some wire, they took forever but the kids loved them.  We actually had a Canadian friend over while we made these so she made hers just red and white to match the Canadian flag.
Then I accidentally cut the table cloth the wrong way so we made some little wreaths too with the short strips.  Oh!  And lovely (but too sweat) sugar cookies.
Jared was out of town again, so we took some photos of our red, white and blue soda so he could at least see what we had.  First I'll show you the nice photo.  You know, that one that's usually #16 in the roll because that's when you finally get all the kids to smile at once.
And now I'll show you some of the others.  Aspen swallowing her pop wrong.
Phoenix doing one of his classic "man belches."
And everyone laughing afterwards, while Phoenix acts so proud of himself.
Like most folks we were not able to do fireworks here, but not due to drought.  They're not even legal here, ever.  I couldn't even find sparklers.  But I did find these cool packets you throw in the fire and it makes your fire burn funky colors.  Though the lady did warn us to cook your marshmallows first, then burn the packet.  I'm guessing we really don't want those chemicals in our food.  So this along with some confetti poppers were our fireworks for our 2012 4th of July.
God Bless America!!!

Beat the Heat

So we all know that sprinklers are a good way to have some fun on the trampoline but try some ice-cubes.  Add those into the mix and your kids'll have some fun.
