The Rest of September

I have gotten a little behind in blogging the past few weeks.  Just keeping busy with life in general.  The rest of September was just a blur.  School was in full swing for everyone, and so was work!

I love this guy.  I know the next two years will be tough as we all adjust to Eric going back to school for his Masters.  We will just have to be patient with the process.  So far it is going well.  Just getting used to him being home, but not really. :)

Jacob is participating in Battle of the Books this year (BOB).  He enjoys the meetings and activities when he remembers to go.  Which means I need to remind him and keep up with the reading schedule too.  I just want him to be excited to be involved with reading!  Not too much to ask for right?

Trevor joined a local Tiger Cub Den over the summer.  Weekly meetings have started, and he loves CUB SCOUTS!!  When he turns 8 we will transer him to our LDS pack so he will be with the boys his age.

Trevor was the Student of the Month for September!  He is doing awesome in first grade.  In fact his homework seems a little too easy for him.  We need to start giving him some challenging projects to do soon.  Don't mind his hair, it was crazy hair day, and he was in dire need of a haircut!!

We had to run to the store to get a few things for dinner.  The boys have been begging me for a coconut for months.  I was in a good mood and so I bought one.  When Daddy got home we opened it up.

The boys drank the water, ate some of the flesh, and used a press to create the milk.  The verdict:  they like the already packaged stuff.

We attended the Bike Rodeo in Trevor's Pack.  Trevor was still a little nervous to ride his bike without training wheels, so I had to assist him.  They were able to get a bike tune-up, earn spoke beads, and their bicycle belt loop.

Love these kids of mine!  They were happy to be handing out together just talking and playing.

Labor Day

We started our Labor Day with the traditional Ward Pancake Breakfast at the park.

Love this photo of my honey and our little girl.

The boys took their scooters and had a blast playing soccer, and in general running around.  They couldn't get enough of everyone's dogs.  This Christmas we are getting a puppy, and everyone is so excited.

That afternoon we went to our friends for a BBQ and family night.

The water was a little cold, but we all had a great time.  Love swimming at the Binghams. It is so awesome that we will now have a pool connection for next summer! ;)

Remembering Heidi

While in Huntington Beach, I received the sad news that my cousin Heidi passed away.  I am so grateful for the comfort and peace the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings.  We were better people for knowing her, and she is in a better place.  Her body is whole, and I know her family cannot wait to see her again and talk with her.

The children had the opportunity to play with their "superhero" cousins, while I attended the funeral services.  Thank you Megan for watching my children.  I know they had a blast swimming and playing.
After the family luncheon, we went to Matthew's Frosh/Soph football game.  It was really sticky hot and gross, but it was fun to see him play and see old friends--even better that they won!

It was an exhausting day filled with many memories, new and old.  Following the game the kids and I came home with a few extra people in the car, my mom and grandma returned home with us.  We had frozen berries to pick up from Oregon that were being delivered.  My Mom spent the next few days with us making tons of freezer jam.  So sad that I didn't get a photo of all that jam and blackberry puree.  The kids had fun with Grandma and Great Grandma; we watched movies, put together puzzles, read, made jam, and ate pizza.  Eric returned home that weekend from travel too.  So grateful for my family!

HB Trip

Eric's 20th High School Reunion was last month.  We took the opportunity to make a family trip of it and stayed with his sister Monica in Huntington Beach.  We also enjoyed eating at yummy restaurants; "Five Guys" was just one of our favorites.

We also went to the beach as often as possible.

The first afternoon Eric and I didn't get into our swimsuits.  This picture is as close as I came.  Disclosure:  I really really dislike the beach.  Number one reason:  Gross Sand!  Number two reason:  Always Cold!

We did however get the kids in their swimsuits because we knew they would get wet jumping the "waves."  Eric had such a good time with the kids.  I stayed back and took the pictures. :)

Trevor absolutely loves everything about the beach!  He clearly doesn't take after me.  Chloe likes it as long as she doesn't get sand in her bathing suit.  Jacob likes it as long as he isn't cold.

We only stayed about an hour that day at the beach.  We headed to Aunt Monica's to get ready for the meet and greet for the reunion.  The kids were awesome!  They only stayed with us for a little bit at the reunion event, until Aunt Monica could come and get them.  We had fun mingling and hanging out with Eric's "old" friends.

On Saturday morning we went to the Pier and ate at Ruby's--yummy!  I love this photo--Chloe with her puppy and Daddy, all is right in the world.

We went to do a little shopping after breakfast so the kids went with Monica and Grandma Williams to get ready to head to the beach again.

And they had more fun!

Saturday night was the main event.  Being the spouse is different at a reunion, no one really wants to talk to you.  I was actually tired and pretty okay with that.  Besides, they are looking to see what kind of person their friend married.  I think we both are pretty lucky.  It was great to see Eric among his childhood friends.  We were able to attend church with Monica and had a fun relaxing Sunday.

On the way home, the kids and I dropped Eric off at his hotel near LAX, he flew to St. Louis for another work week. It was a fun weekend!
