Both boys in Santa's lap...at the same time...no tears....and I got it on film. It is a Christmas Miracle! ;-) Austin had been talking for weeks about what he was going to ask Santa for when he got to meet him. (I think he has had his list written since July...literally!) I could tell he was feeling a little shy when the moment came, but he marched right up, climbed in his lap and proceeded to tell Santa that he wanted a race track and Cars 2. Micah then went up to Santa, got in his lap and told him that he wanted a "uck" (Truck in Micah speak ;-) I was very proud of them both. The pictures I have from my childhood of meeting Santa involve me screaming my head off. ;-)Monday, December 5, 2011
Santa!

For my dad's birthday, a few weeks back, I took some pictures of the boys in their Alabama gear for his office. I have had so much fun this year watching games with both Austin and Micah. Micah gets bored pretty quickly, but Austin is really beginning to get into it. Every Saturday, he asks me if he is old enough yet to play for the Crimson Tide. I gently remind him that genetics are not in his favor on the football front. I guess we could aim for field goal kicker, since he is probably built more for that and as everyone knows, Alabama could use a good one. ;-)

Pumpkin Farm Fun
Halloween
There were so many fun Halloween activities this year, that I will let the photos speak for themselves with very few words from me.

Soccer
Austin has been begging for over a year to play team sports, so we decided to give soccer a try this fall. I was a little nervous about it at first, but it ended up being a wonderful experience. We could not have been happier with our coaches and we were blessed to be on the same team as Austin's best friend, Cale.
They were so much fun to watch. There were moments when it seemed more like the coaches were herding cats than coaching a soccer team, but all the boys really began to catch on and understand the game more as the season progressed.

Trains and little boys (or at least my little boys) are a match made in heaven, so when we heard that Cheekwood was having a special train exhibit, I knew that we had to find a nice day to go. It was nothing like what I had pictured. It was a lot smaller, and more intricate that I had imagined. The boys absolutely loved it. I think they could have spent the whole day checking out all of the little details.

Micah was absolutely thrilled to find Thomas, Annie and Clarabel on the tracks. ;-)
The boys were much less enthusiastic that their mama chose to use the opportunity to have an impromptu photo shoot at Cheekwood (as you can tell by most of the results ;-)

Austin started getting really interested in learning to read last spring. I didn't really do that much to encourage it other than provide easy to read books and a couple videos that talked about the various sounds that letters made. Before we knew it, Austin was starting to read. By the time he turned 4 1/2 in October, Austin was already reading Stage 2 and 3 books! He absolutely LOVES to read and as a result, Micah loves to pretend to read. ;-)
