The Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) is China's national standardized test created and developed by the HSK Center of Beijing Language and Culture University to evaluate the level of Chinese language of non-native speakers (such as foreigners, abroad Chinese and students from Chinese nationwide minorities).
HSK is separated into three classes: beginning level, elementary to intermediate degree, and sophisticated degree.
HSK (Basic) is actually a standardized test designed for novices. It's most proper for those who have acquired 400-3000 elementary Chinese words (referring to level A and B in the Outline of HSK Grammar).
HSK Elementary-Intermediate is suitable for individuals who have mastery of 2000-5000 Chinese words and phrases (referring to levels A, B and C in the outline of HSK Vocabulary) and rules of grammar (referring to levels A, B and C within the outline of HSK Grammar).
HSK Advanced applies to those who have mastery of 5000-8000 Chinese words and phrases (referring to level A, B, C and D while in the Outline of HSK Vocabulary) and also the corresponding rules of grammar (referring to level A, B, C and D inside the Outline of HSK Grammar).
The HSK certificate is used by educational institutions and prospective employers to assess if prospective employees have an appropriate degree of Chinese language skills. HSK could be the only official language certificate accepted in mainland China.
Productive examinees are issued a Chinese Proficiency Certificate for the examination they took. You'll find 3 levels of certificates for beginners' HSK, namely, the levels of C, B plus a.
Six levels of certificates are here for your elementary and intermediate HSK, C, B and a for the elementary HSK and C, B plus A for the intermediate HSK. There are also three levels of certificates for the innovative HSK, namely, the amounts of C, B and A.
During two months of the test, the HSK sponsor will send by mail the Chinese proficiency certificates and score reports to the HSK organizers. These organizers will forward the certificates and score reports to the examinees.
The examinees might also gather their certificates and score reports from the place exactly where they registered.

The Validity of Chinese Proficiency Certificates
Chinese proficiency certificates are lastingly legitimate. Being a proof of Chinese proficiency for foreign learners applying for enrollment into various types of schools at a variety of ranges in China, HSK scores are valid for two years from the date of examination.
As a way to inspire foreign nonnative speakers of Chinese to take the HSK, the Ministry of Education of China along with the National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language offer HSK scholarships to foreigners with excellent HSK scores.
Foreigners who are awarded HSK scholarships are invited to China for long-term or short-term academic applications so as to improve their knowledge of the Chinese language and China's glorious background and culture.
Immediately after the completion of HSK yearly, the State Committee for the Chinese Proficiency Test of China will figure out the amount of examinees to obtain scholarships at each HSK center. The HSK centers will recommend nominees for the scholarships due to their HSK scores. Examinees granted scholarships will be invited to China for an academic program in the next year. China will cover their tuition fees and accommodation fees and give them stipends for living costs during their stay in China.
BCT is held on the Chinese mainland and overseas regularly every year. Please visit our official website www.hanban.org for times and locations.
In addition, BCT also provides independent test services according to the special requirements of relevant enterprises or organizations.
