Watch: Curry Barker's New Horror Short 'Mama Bear' - Under 5 Mins

By Alex Billington
Mama Bear Horror Short Film

"Where are you? Leave your house!" A brand new must see horror short film has debuted online this week. Mama Bear is a horror short under 5 minutes created & directed by Curry Barker, Hollywood's favorite young new director responsible for creating the horror hit of the year Obsession (have you seen it?). Even though the title hints that it's connected with the One-Wish-Willow universe of Obsession, it seems to be in its own twisted world. Though something similar is going on in here... The hints are found within. The short story follows a man who wakes up to phone calls galore. It seems his girlfriend is coming after him and she bursts in at the end with a gun. But why? What did he – or someone else – do? Mama Bear stars Jon Lee Richardson as Floyd, Katie Sarife, Ericka Kreuz, Joshua Snyder. Barker states: "Thanks to Windows for sponsoring this short film." From what I can tell in this film, it's almost as if someone else One-Wish-Willow'd themselves to be a doppelgänger or make a copy of Floyd and then, well, very bad things happened.

Wacky Fun Trailer for 'Christmas at the Kringles' X-Mas Horror Comedy

By Alex Billington
Christmas at the Kringles Teaser Trailer

"Joy! Joy! Joy!" 🎄 The holidays are just around the corner! Briarcliff Entertainment has unveiled the first teaser trailer for a totally wacky, bizarre, freaky horror action comedy called Christmas at the Kringles. Step aside angry Santa in Violent Night 2, this year's super bonkers, extra violent Christmas comedy (also with an angry Santa) is ready to smash into theaters coming very soon. The Severson family moves into a suburban neighborhood where their neighbors, the Kringles, are obsessed with celebrating Christmas year-round and harbor sinister intentions to hypnotize and indoctrinate them. Wait, huh?!? This is one crazy X-Mas family. What seems like a wonderful holiday time celebration turns very, very weird when they go to confront neighbors and get invited to some sort of freaky induction dinner. Will they make it out alive? The impressive ensemble cast for Christmas at the Kringles features Ron Livingston, Rachel Bilson, Rob Riggle, Arden Myrin, Beverly D'Angelo, David Wain, with Thomas Lennon and Donald Faison. This movie defies explanation! I can't even begin to describe this trailer – you just have to see it to believe it.

Liam Neeson & Marisa Tomei in 'The Mongoose' Action Thriller Trailer

By Alex Billington
The Mongoose Movie Trailer

"You get to The Mongoose, and we'll take it from there..." "Drive – as fast as you can!" 🚨 Samuel Goldwyn Films has revealed the official trailer for an action thriller car chase movie called The Mongoose, starring Liam Neeson in the lead role as a war hero on his own getaway mission. This is hitting theaters starting in October later this fall. A war hero accused of a crime he didn't commit and with nothing to lose, leads police on an epic televised cross-country car chase, helped by members of his former Special Forces Army troop, as a fascinated public cheers him on. It's made by a stunt coordinator who has been doing Neeson's stunts ever since The Commuter, now directing his first film. Liam Neeson stars as Fang, with Marisa Tomei, Ving Rhames, Marcus Thomas, Maurice Marvel Meredith, and Michael Chiklis as the sniveling uppity cop leading the police after him. As ridiculous as this premise is, it looks like tons of fun – especially seeing all of his supporters come in and mess with the cops so he can keep going & not get caught. What a badass.

Full Trailer for 'My Crazy Feminist Girlfriend' Japanese RomCom Film

By Alex Billington
My Crazy Feminist Girlfriend Trailer

"I don't want or need any of that!" Netflix has revealed the official trailer for a Japanese romantic comedy film titled My Crazy Feminist Girlfriend, ready for streaming starting in December this year. Based on the hit Korean novel of the same name, turned into this streaming film to watch and discuss. Mei Nagano and Taisei Kido square off in romantic warfare! A romantic comedy film between a self-proclaimed nice guy and his feminist girlfriend with seemingly incompatible principles. "Good girls go to heaven – bad girls go everywhere." In this amusing new rom-com, a man's ex becomes an unapologetic feminist, but he still has some feelings for her. After seven years, she returns as a passionate feminist, clashing head-on without compromising on "love" nor any "rights". Starring Mei Nagano and Taisei Kido, with Junki Tozuka, Maho Nonami, Sotaro Tanaka, Hiroki Konno, Manami Higa, Yumi Aso. This is clearly made for Japanese society, which still has very conservative concepts about women, to be able to watch it & discuss feminism.

Naomi Scott & Kit Harington in Sci-Fi Romance 'Eternal Return' Trailer

By Alex Billington
Eternal Return Trailer

"Taking you back to your past is meant to be an adventure." Quiver Distribution has revealed the sweeping romantic first official trailer for Eternal Return, a fantasy sci-fi romance film made by filmmaker Yaniv Raz as his third feature so far. This recently premiered at the 2026 Toronto Film Festival though reviews are quite mixed so far. Intro via TIFF: "Visually innovative and intoxicatingly romantic, this fantasy drama from writer-director Yaniv Raz (Dr. Bird's Advice For Sad Poets) stars Naomi Scott, Kit Harington, and Simon Callow as an adventurous trio journeying back through time in search of the power to love again." The story follows Cass, a young woman who has come to a personal point of emotional invulnerability, until she meets Virgil, a cartographer, on her 29th birthday. Along with his friend Malcolm, the pair will attempt to travel back in time to awaken Cass to love again. The cast also includes Sonoya Mizuno, Jay Lycurgo, and Simon Kunz. This seems like an incredibly ambitious star-crossed lovers concept we don't often see anymore. Featuring some nice visuals following this story back in time, then all the way back to the present.

Wrongful Conviction Story 'When A Witness Recants' Official Trailer

By Alex Billington
When A Witness Recants Doc Trailer

"I'm an innocent man." HBO Max has revealed the main official trailer for an acclaimed documentary film titled When a Witness Recants, retelling the story of three teenagers sent to prison for a murder – only to be found wrongfully convinced after 36 years in prison. This first premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to many superb reviews, with stops at Full Frame, Hot Docs, DC/DOX, and many other fests during the year. A 1983 Baltimore school murder led to 3 teens' wrongful imprisonment for 36 years. Rediscovering the story as an adult, acclaimed author Ta-Nehisi Coates, who grew up in the same West Baltimore community, learns the truth about the case of these three boys & comes to see it as both a crucial turning point for Baltimore's tight knit Black community and a glaring example of a broader national crisis of racially charged police misconduct. Using animated sequences, insight from the major players, and footage from depositions taken in 2022, the film details how coerced confessions & false testimony led to the convictions, revealing an egregious abuse of authority and prosecutorial malfeasance. An examination of how this case affected the accused, witnesses and their community. Directed by doc master filmmaker Dawn Porter as yet another of her latest hard-hitting stories about injustice and the truth. Don't skip over this one.

Second Trailer for 'Pendulum' Horror Featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt

By Alex Billington
Pendulum Horror Trailer

"There is no such thing as death." Creepy! Vertical has unveiled the new official trailer for the indie horror film titled Pendulum, creeping its way into theaters in January 2027. An even scarier trailer than the first teaser! Pendulum is produced by filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, because it's the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Mark Heyman – who (co-)wrote the script for Black Swan which got him a BAFTA nom. After a traumatic event a couple journeys to a retreat in New Mexico seeking healing. Patrick grows skeptical of the retreat's leader as Abigail falls under her influence. They start to wonder if the group's practices offer genuine healing – or conceal a terrifying truth that threatens to consume them both. I'm pretty sure it's the latter. The horror film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Phoebe Dynevor, along with Norman Reedus & Jacki Weaver. Heyman also states: "Pendulum is a deeply personal film, inspired by real, and really scary, experiences." This looks like an insane supernatural cult thriller with some very dark and eerie twists in it after the hypnotizing starts. Stay away from this cult! No way! Tread carefully viewing the new trailer below.

Official Trailer for Korean Monster Classic 'The Host' 4K Re-Release

By Alex Billington
The Host 4K Re-Release

"Survival is contagious." Magnolia Pictures has revealed their brand new trailer for the 4K restoration & re-release of the Korean monster movie called The Host. This was Bong Joon-ho's third feature at the time, debuting at Cannes 2006, and it launched him into primetime becoming a major genre hit worldwide. The film stars Song Kang-ho as food stand vendor Park Gang-du whose daughter Hyun-seo (Go Ah-sung) is kidnapped by a creature dwelling around the Han River in Seoul. Byun Hee-bong, Park Hae-il, and Bae Doona appear in supporting roles as Gang-du's father, brother, and sister, respectively, who help Gang-du escape quarantine against an alleged virus derived from the monster and search for his daughter. Now 20 years later the film is celebrating its 20th anniversary and Bong Joon-ho is a household name now (yes even in the US especially after Parasite) – the perfect time to give it another theatrical run. However, it's only playing in theaters briefly for two nights this fall before it's available on 4K UHD Blu-ray later this fall. I'm a huge fan of this movie – it totally holds up all these years later!! – and I recommend it as a way to get non-horror fans into watching more horror. Glad that it's getting a proper 20th Anniversary re-release this year.

Wacky Evil Doll Horror Movie 'Jeffrey Dollmer' Trailer - WTF Is This?

By Alex Billington
Jeffrey Dollmer Horror Trailer

"More lethal than Chucky, more wood than Pinocchio." Uncork'd Ent. has revealed an official trailer for a wacky indie horror comedy titled Jeffrey Dollmer, or I guess I should write it as Jeffery DOLLmer. This is getting a VOD release starting in November soon – if you need a laugh. WTF? Is this an SNL sketch? A wild new horror / slasher that puts a twisted spin on the killer doll genre by imagining the spirit of notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer trapped inside a murderous doll. Packed with bloody mayhem, the new trailer offers a gruesome first look at the pint-sized killer. Follows models on a photo shoot who are stalked by a doll possessed by the spirit of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. Directed by Mark Savage, the film stars Charlie Trepany, Chey Crieger, Juliana Destefano, Adam Huss, Eva Hamilton, Mariah Justice, Scott Asmar, Jabarri Bush, Jane Xi, Tom Parnell, & Sean Michael Conway. Brian Joseph Mange plays Jeffrey Dahmer, while Jeffrey Reddick – creator of the Final Destination franchise – also makes a cameo appearance. As ridiculous as this whole thing is, it looks goofy & bonkers enough to actually be entertaining.

First Look US Teaser Trailer for Sandra Wollner's 'Everytime' Grief Film

By Alex Billington
Everytime US Teaser Trailer

"I just can't wrap my head around it." 1-2 Special has revealed the first teaser trailer for the indie sensation titled Everytime, a distinct film about grief made in Germany by director Sandra Wollner. It's actually Wollner's third feature film so far, but her biggest yet as many critics are putting it on their Top 10 of the year. Everytime first premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival & won the Un Certain Regard prize there. A tragedy brings a mother, daughter, and teenage boy together. Struggling with blame and forgiveness, the unlikely trio take a trip to Tenerife (in the Canary Islands) for a family holiday that never happened. Under the glow of the sun, past & present quietly start to overlap. Starring Birgit Minichmayr, Tristán López, Lotte Shirin Keiling, Carla Hüttermann. The film is a whole new vision of grief, after a young girl dies in Berlin the family struggles but the film isn't about that – featuring vivid imagery as they each deal with it in their own ways. I wrote in my review from Cannes: "This here is real, profound, bold cinema. It left me totally shaken, boasting a handful of entirely unforgettable shots." A must see whenever it screens near you.
