PING: ping internet hosts

Use this PING service to see if an internet host is active.

This service is for private non-commercial use only. Please do not abuse. No automated queries. No bots.

Ping
Host: ... the name of the HOST to ping.
IPv6     It may take several seconds for the ping to complete ...
please be patient and do not reload.

Ping uses the ICMP protocol's ECHO_REQUEST datagram to elicit an ICMP ECHO_RESPONSE from a distant host. Pings have an IP and ICMP header, followed by a struct timeval and then an arbitrary number of pad bytes used to fill the packet.

This service sends a Unix like 'ping -c4 <target_host>', consisting of 4 packets with 56 bytes pad data.

If you are looking for the IP address of a computer in the internet or want to try a PTR reverse lookup on a given IP address, try our dig or nslookup services.
If you want to know who owns a domain, try our whois service.
