The Rhode to The Rest of Our Lives: Outtakes

Ok, so I know that I said that I wasn't going to have any more professional pictures, but I have just a few more from you.

There were times when we were going through our wedding pictures where we just had to stop, laugh, and then think, "what could have possibly been going through our minds at that moment that caused us to do X," where X is any possible variable.

So here you go - the outtakes from our wedding.  Please enjoy, because we surely did!!

That's actually a curling iron...I know.

She looks like a little garden gnome!

I apparently thought this was the perfect place to put this while my hair was being done.  Idiot.

Uh, really?

Don't punch me! I'll growl at you!

Death stare, and we've only been married for a few hours!

And my dad says "Really? Both of you?"

Death stare to my mom - he apparently wants her dead too.

Mom: "I can't believe this is now my family." (This was to Journey's "Don't Stop Believing")

"You think I can actually snowboard in my wedding dress?"

We're a bunch of weirdos.  I know. You can say it.  It's ok.

The Rhode to The Rest of Our Lives: Water and Fire

Since I'm not sure if I ever talked about it, let me take some time to explain to you what Waterfire is.  In Providence, RI, there is a river, and during the warmer months, May-October, a local organization, called Waterfire lights the basins in the river with fire after sunset and plays music, while local food vendors and artists gather around to sell food and provide additional entertainment.  It's a really cool atmosphere and a great way to just hang out.  The lightings typically occur on Saturday nights, and sometimes they do mid-week partial lightings, but that depends on the sponsors that they get for each event.

Knowing that Waterfires take place on Saturdays, and Columbus Day Weekend is typically the last event, I stalked the schedule online for months, waiting for them to announce the last lighting. I was so stoked when October 6th was finally put up as the last lighting of the season, and we made sure to put information about Waterfire on our wedding website and invite our family and friends to join us there after the reception ended!

Turns out that our friends and family were pooped, and the only ones who ended up going were D and I, my parents, and my sister and her best friend.  But that doesn't matter to me, because it was such a great way to wind down the night.  I couldn't be happier that we went.  And, honestly, the attention was kinda cool too, because everyone was shocked to see us there in our wedding dress and suit. Yep, we didn't even change!

My parents brought their camera, and my sister's best friend was taking shots on her phone and posting them to Instagram, so you'll see some of those in here as well.

From here, we said goodbye to my parents, and then walked up the street to our hotel.  At this point, I couldn't wait to actually bend at my waist and stretch my back out.

But, coming to Waterfire was the absolute perfect way to end a perfect day.

The Rhode to The Rest of Our Lives: Fire and Cameras

One last surprise that we had for our friends and family was a sparkler exit from the reception.  RI changed their laws a few years ago to make sparklers legal, so knowing that I would be able to have this for our wedding was perfect.  It was something that I had always wanted, and I am so happy that we decided to do it!

D and I hung out in the reception space while everyone that was left got setup outside, and then we got the queue from the coordinator that we could make our way through the tunnel that our guests had made.

Despite the slight photo bomb from D's dad and Macy's, this is one of my absolute favorite pictures from the night.

And with that exit from the venue, our wedding was officially over.

These are the end of the professional photos that we have from the day.  We had originally planned on asking the photographers to follow us to Waterfire, but it was already 11:30 when we were leaving the venue, and they had been with us for 12 hours already.

So, we sent them on their way, and headed out ourselves.  We still had that one stop to go though, so stay tuned.

The Rhode to The Rest of Our Lives: Wonderful Tonight

In our final meeting with the DJ, we were asked to choose the final song of the evening.  D and I knew that we wanted to end the night with a slower song that everyone could dance to, so he chose   "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton.  I thought it was the perfect song to end the night on.  And the dance floor was packed!

Our parents danced together for the last song of the evening...

Our family members paired up in couples and enjoyed the last dance....

And our friends did the same...

And all the while, D and I were in our own little world, lost in each other's eyes, and surrounded by love, dancing our hearts away as the end of our wedding drew near.

And with a kiss on the cheek, a whispered "I Love You," and a kiss to end the night, our reception had ended.  But the night wasn't over yet!

The Rhode to The Rest of Our Lives: Chowing Down

You may remember that back when we did our tasting with the caterer, I mentioned that we weren't going to have a cake.  We decided to do some passed desserts, and chose three different options. The first was a peanut butter sandwich cookie dipped in chocolate, the second was a cone of strawberry tiramisu, and the third was an RI Autocrat Coffee Frappe.  These were absolutely delicious, and our guests loved them! And, one of the things that I liked best was that they were served while people were still dancing, and we didn't have to take a break in the festivities to have a cake-cutting ceremony.

We loved our desserts, and I wish we could have them every single night. Especially those Frappes! They were delicious!

Up next, the final dance of the evening, and then a big surprise!

The Rhode to The Rest of Our Lives: Let's Get This Party Started

WARNING: PICTURE OVERLOAD!!!!!

Our family and friends love to party.  And it was so awesome to see everyone out on the dance floor.  When we got our professional pictures back, seeing all the dancing made me so happy.  It was great to see people break out of their shells and boogie!

I won't comment on too many of these, but I think some of them will require an explanation... :)

Five of the people in this photo are D's high school friends.  Three were dates of those high school friends. Three are friends from Indiana.

My mom sure knows how to bring the house down!

Can you guess what song this was?

I was serenaded my my sister and her best friend "Sherry" by The Four Seasons.

My MIL was being taught how to fist pump to "Shots" by LMFAO.

Some sick air guitar!

Someone started a kick-line/circle for Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" and everyone on the dance floor joined in.

I really have no idea what's going on in this picture, but it was too good not to share!

And, apparently, when I am dancing, I look like a fool...

And then when "Low" plays, I do what it says.

I think we had too much fun partying.  But, is there even a such thing as "too much fun?"
