Bodie 18 month update!

So I originally started this post about a month ago, but haven't had the time to finish.  Who knew life could be so busy with a one year old?  Better late than never though!  At least this gives me a record of what's happened the last 6 months too!

The past 6 months have flown past!  Bodie's grown and changed in so many ways.  At his 18 month appointment about a month ago, he was right on track with his growth.  He's still on the smaller size at about 3% on the weight charts, but he's following his curve.  He's just now starting to really outgrow his 12 month clothes.  Luckily, he's not too picky of an eater and eats a wide variety of foods.  He definitely has his favorites including french fries, pizza, spaghetti, and Mexican food, but also eats other things.  He's still nursing a couple times a day at this point.  I have a feeling he's going to be a hard one to fully wean.  He likes his comfort milkies.

He's gotten all of his front teeth, his first set of molars, his lower incisors, and has just recently started on his upper incisors. He's finally starting to consistently sleep through the night.  I think he's woken up once in the last week, and was only awake for a few minutes.  It took 3 long months of sleep training to get here, but we finally did it!  I'm feeling a little bit more refreshed these days, and I have to say it's really nice!  He peed in the potty for the first time about a month ago! A month before that he was starting to sign change while pooping so we bought him a potty seat to start getting used to.  He hasn't peed since, and his interest in using the potty comes and goes at this point.

He began signing more words after his birthday.  He currently signs milk, eat, sleep, change, water, please, thank you, help, more, all done, banana, apple, helicopter, motorcycle, ball, and balloon.  He's not saying quite as many words, but he's really starting to try and says Mama now to refer to me on a regular basis in addition to Dada.  He tries to say grandma and grandpa, balloon, boat, moon, bubble, Molly, more.  When he figures out how to talk, he's not going to stop.  He tells complex stories about things that happen in his life.  He loved the fireworks at the 4th of July and talked about them every day for over a month after that.

Grandpa Pickens got him a convertible ride on/scooter for Christmas, and he knows how to use it when it's a scooter.  He jumps with both feet off the ground.  He climbs up onto the bed by himself, and has become quite the fast runner.  He's still very busy and doesn't stop.

He loves everything outside, reading books, figuring things like buckles and switches out, puzzles, cats and dogs, motorcycles and cars, and balloons.  He loves camping and everything that entails, including the campfire.  We went on his first plane ride to California in May and his first cruise to Alaska in June, which he loved every minute of.  He can be a bit of a ham at times which makes us all laugh all the time.

He has a lot of love to give and is so eager to share with everyone around him. He is so smart and curious about the world around him.  He's super observant and pays attention to EVERYTHING. Nothing gets by this kid!  He sees something one time and tries to imitate it.  He is very persistent, stubborn, and a little bit obsessive about things.  He doesn't know how to let things go sometimes and loves to relive the past through reenactments, looking at pictures, and talking about his favorite things.  His sense of independence is blooming and he's becoming quite the strong-willed child.  It'll be a great trait for when he's older, but I'm not looking forward to the years ahead!  He feeds himself (and has for a while), plays by himself, and knows how to clean up after himself.  He's also learned how to put on shoes, pants, and shirts mostly by himself.

It's amazing to watch him grow and learn every day.  I can't believe he's already a year and a half.  It seems like not that long ago we were bringing him home from the hospital.  Sometimes he seems so much older than he really is.  I can't wait to see what the next 6 months hold!

Here's some pictures from his 18 month birthday.  Hopefully soon I'll be able to get more pics from the past 7 months up.  Maybe after all the holidays are over and we can breathe again! Until then!

Battle Ground Camping with the whole gang! (and a few extra pics)

We had a nice camping trip with the whole gang! Even if it rained most of the time....  The first day was really nice, then the rain started.

Staying dry, entertaining ourselves in the tent trailer.
