Xingfu means blessed.

Xingfu means happy and blessed in Chinese. Even though 2014, the year I started this blog, was a busy and, at times, difficult year that is the word I thought of for this space. Mama not because I have many children but because I seem to fall into a caregiving role. Sometimes I feel like Mama to the world.

The name XingfuMama means Happy Mama with undertones of being blessed.

Whatsoever is Lovely Challenge-2026 Week 44

This challenge is simple: step back for a few minutes each week to find a lovely thing, a precious moment, anything you find lovely. Then post about it. You can just post a picture or you can go into detail and tell it as a reflection, story or poem.

It could be anything:

a smile…a rainbow…a flower…a kind act…a tasty treat

What was lovely in your life this week?

One-to-Three Photo Processing Challenge-November 2026

The challenge is simple: take one photo and get creative with it by processing it three different ways. I’ll do a start up post on the first of each month, including a round up of entries from the preceding month, so we can all share in the creativity and fun.

To join in create a pingback or write a comment below that includes the URL to your post.

Note: While traveling I can have spotty, slow and generally unreliable internet so may be slow to get ping-backs approved.

Here are the contributions for September 2026

Sweet Ginger: my All-American Cutie-pie*

Note: this post is mostly for my family.

Yesterday we said a final goodbye to our sweet Ginger. The online memorial thing offered by the vet only allowed 6 pictures. Ginger has been with us through so much that that was ridiculous.

(You can make pictures bigger by clicking on them.)

Ginger was adopted as a young puppy by Grandma in the spring of 2009. She came to live with me after Grandma could no longer care for her, I live close so we could take the pups over for visits regularly.

She has been with our family through thick and thin, joy and sorrow and everything in between. She loved us all very much and did her very best to keep us all on the straight and narrow.

As I went through the photos the Terry Jack’s song with the chorus

We had joy
We had fun
We had seasons in the sun…

Was going through my mind on repeat.

I hope that you will all have good memories of our sweet puppy girl who loved us all so very much.

*When people asked what breed Ginger was I would say she was an All American Cutie-Pie.
