| Free Amazon Prime for students |
[10 Aug 2010|04:07am] |
Amazon is currently giving free 1 year memberships to Amazon Prime (free 2 day shipping, $3.99 overnight shipping) to current students with a .edu email address: http://www.amazon.com/gp/student/signup/info I'm not sure how long they're offering this (it doesn't say on the site).
Just thought i'd give fellow students the heads up on this in case you haven't heard about it yet. This is going to save me a ton on shipping textbooks this year!

[16 Oct 2008|01:14am] |
Hello,
I am planning on transferring to aifl, and i was wondering how good is their animation department? Do the teachers actually know what they're talking about? How about activities for students, etc? And housing? (Since I'll probably have to get loans for it too until i find a job).
Thanks

| Anyone looking for art/media jobs? |
[18 Jan 2007|01:08pm] |
Interesting new site for anyone looking for an arts based job...or MIGHT ever be looking for a job. We all know it's a very "who you know" industry. Not sure if they have a lot of arts and media jobs yet, but this might be a tool we all could use.

hey, ok yes i am just joining this community but i am about to advertise something =p but it isnt for my benefit honestly. Im working for ReflexStock.com which is a stock photography company in ireland and the kinda main interest is selling images that are partnered with getty images. Ive had a few brain storming meetings with my boss... telling him we should set it up to sell our own images, our own brand, people associated with us. And we got onto a conversation about how we dont just want stock photos, like there is a big market for graphics, icons and web interfaces and presentations. Its really difficult to get into this kind of thing especially for selling, soooo im trying to convince him artists are interested in submitting their work and what not, especially if a job opportunity could be involved. (i got into this to be a photographer and got landed with the arduous task of advertising, which makes me sad. i just wanted to take photos... soooo) I am trying to get more involved with the photography and art management. I should probably be targeting people who would be interested in purchasing images but im doin it for us struggling student types that cant get a break! I have a community 01reflexstock which is where i was hoping people would join and submit work. =)

| NEED INFO |
[26 Oct 2006|05:22am] |
hey hey hey
I was wondering how good the graphic design program is? I'm thinking of possibly applying to it. Also, how "shitty" are the dorms really? Would you say they are livable? How do you like the school? Do you feel you are getting a good education there? Are you really learning skills that you will actually need?
Finally, and probably the dumbest question asked but I'm taking a crack at it anyways, if you're not in the photography program will they allow you to use the studio/darkroom sometimes? Is there a fee like other schools have?
Any help would be appreciated! You all seem nice and helpful enough :)

| CONSIGNMENT OPPORTUNITY!!!! |
[01 Oct 2006|08:07am] |
Want to make some money from all of those beautiful garments that you are making for your degree?
Want to consign with an new up and coming all handmade boutique right here in the Fort Lauderdale area?
Check us out at www.shopbettie.com
Come on in and visit us. Or email DragonflyCrafts@excite.com. We can discuss!
We had a recent article in the new Daily Candy for Miami:
Wanna Bettie?
Rubble. Boop. White. Page. Apple Brown.
Whether stone-age housewife or stone-cold fox, famous for her eyes or her thighs, spelled “Betty” or “Bettie” (or “Bette”), one thing’s for sure: You’ve never met one you didn’t like.
So we’re pleased to introduce Bettie, the latest hidden treasure in Dania’s antique district.
The quaint boutique, one of ten brightly painted shops surrounding a courtyard, is delightfully cluttered with clothing, handbags, magnets, jewelry, artwork, lotions, and greeting cards — all handmade.
Bettie is the brainchild of three local designers who packed the shop with their own lines (Mamadelic, Dragonfly Crafts, and Ragamufyn), as well as with the goods of practically every other craft-happy chick south of O-Town — Fort Lauderdale-based Lushbox, Homestead’s 75Rabbit, and Miami Beach’s Ciara Loves You — plus national names like Tiny Meat.
So if you’re wondering whether you’ll find something to suit you, rest assured.
You Bettie, you Bettie, you bet.
Bettie, 38 South Federal Highway, Dania (954-924-6547 or shopbettie.com).
We also had a great article printed up about us in the Miami Herald last Sunday.
Thanks! Rebecca
