Hi there, Amy…
I’m a writer, musician & freelance audio engineer. I do a bunch of work at WNYC & have accumulated a lot of experience in editing & sound designing pieces for public radio (soundcheck, studio 360, on the media, etc.) I’ve recently decided I want to put those skills to use in doing a podcast of my own–“a literary magazine for your ears.”
As a poet and a writer, I’m often frustrated with the tame, dry, academic tone of not only open mic readings, but also new podcasts dedicated to poetry/writing/etc.
I’m of a mind to try something a bit different…something more fun & less constrained & not solely designated to JUST poetry. I’m envisioning an hour-long podcast that has 8 to 10 poems (read by their authors), maybe a short story (or an excerpt of a novel), some odd recurring characters and skit-type moments, and also some music. Cross pollination of arts dedicated to the crafting of language.
I’m just starting to canvas for submissions and I came across your website on the “goodreads” site. I was wondering if you might be willing to help me spread the word about Crimedog (that’s what I’m calling the podcast). Here’s my craigslist posting:

Also, I’m a big Wilco fan & couldn’t help but notice a poem called “A Ghost is Born.” I enjoyed the poem & then noticed it’s from a book called “I’m the Man Who Loves You.” I presume you’re a fan of Mr. Tweedy? :)
Thanks for your time, Amy.
Best,
John DeLore
I am thoroughly enjoying your poetry and this site. I have lamented the lack of queer poetry resources and venues for a long time. This is just wonderful that you have taken the time to assemble such a comprehensive listing, along with your work.
Thank you for everything you are doing here. I will be back often.
Sarah
Thank you, Sarah!
