Community Info, Rules & Guidelines

artondemand is a place where you may make requests for fanart, and/or fulfill other people's requests for fanart. The art that is posted can be finished work, or in the form of a quick sketch. Artists are encouraged to view the requests as challenges; get inspired and have fun answering someone else's request. :)

We also want to help out artists wanting to make more fanart in their fandoms, so you're welcome to advertise your fandoms and ask for prompts.

This community is inclusive of all fandoms, genres, ratings, relationships, and identities.

There is no limit on the number of responses to a request. Multiple responses are encouraged.

All types of fanart and all media are accepted -- sketch, painting, photomanipulation, etc.

Just because an artist offers to work on a request, that does not obligate them to do it. No pressure, no time limit. You can answer a request the same day someone makes it, or six months later. This is all about the fun.

Golden rule: We're all fans. Let's be fans together, and have fun. No flaming, no guilt, no character/pairing/fandom bashing here. Not following this rule will get you banned without prior warning.

HOW TO POST A REQUEST

In the subject line, put: [Request] [*fandom here*]

Please, nothing else in the subject. This will help me tag requests.

In the actual post, describe the pairing or characters you would like. Be as specific or as general as you would like; including links to reference pictures may also be useful. NEW: If your request contains adult themes, please put the descriptive part of it behind a cut. You can copy & paste this to your post:

Fandom: Pairing(s)/Character(s): This is my request: Reference picture: [*URLs of any reference pictures you would like to add*]

For artists: HOW TO ASK FOR PROMPTS IN YOUR FANDOMS

In the subject line, put: [Artist Taking Requests]

In the actual post, tell us what fandoms and pairings you are willing to make fanart for. You can copy & paste this to your post:

I'm looking for prompts for these fandoms: I'm offering these pairing(s)/character(s): Additional notes: [here you can put certain things you will or won't do, ratings you are offering, where to find examples of your work etc]

HOW TO POST ART

In the subject line, put: [Submission] [*fandom here*] [requested by *requester's user name here*]

In the body of your fanart post, include this header (copy & paste to your post):
Title: Artist: Rating: [*G to NC-17*] Fandom: Pairing(s)/Character(s): Disclaimer: Content notes: [*if there are any (warnings/squicks/kinks/what have you)*} Other notes: [*resources credits, anything else you want to add*]

In the actual post, you can link to the request post, but it is not necessary. All submissions, regardless of length, should be put behind a cut. Please include content warnings. You may also want to leave a comment on the original request post, so the person who requested the picture will be sure to see it.

If you are requesting an obscure character, please be patient, as there may not be as many artists who can fulfill that request. Furthermore, the mod cannot guarantee that *any* request will be fulfilled. However, I will keep track of all requests, and will make regular posts (how often will depend on community traffic) with a list of all unfulfilled requests. This way, no one's request will be forgotten.

You can find all the requests for any tagged fandom by adding ,!request?mode=and to the end of the fandom tag's URL. For example, this will bring up all the Merlin requests: http://artondemand.dreamwidth.org/tag/fandom:+merlin,!request?mode=and
