I apologize if this is seen as spam. I did look at other journal entries here to see whether or not anyone else has recruited, and I did see that someone did make a post in which they said they needed characters for a story....so I am doing the same thing. If I'm not supposed to, then I'm sorry. Let me know, and I won't do it again.
Please Note -- a knowledge of Star Wars is NOT necessary in order to participate in this role-play. I am willing to explain anything that you need to know to you in order for you to play a particular character.
At was writing a Star Wars AU fanfiction several years ago on other sites. In this fanfiction, I had various Star Wars characters write to other characters -- explaining to other characters what is going on in the story. The result of this is that a fanfiction is written from the perspectives of the characters, while they interact with each other. The story begins before The Phantom Menace and will go all the way up through Return of the Jedi. Right now, the story is almost at the end of The Phantom Menace. That is where I had to stop because of time contraints from school and other things. However, I decided to start it up again. I need characters. These Notes will be posted in their own community, and also on a proboards forum.
For those who participate, you get to pretend to be a character and have influence on other characters, as well as the overall story. There are boundaries, though.
The reason that this fan fiction will be classified as AU is because, while generally following the story line of the movies, there are certain points that will be different. Also, there are additional characters and events. There are also questions that are answered in this fanfiction that are not covered in the movie. (Like how and why did Dooku become a Sith, what was Palpatine doing behind the scenes that caused everything to happen the way that it did, what would happen if Anakin was really able to free his mother, just how deep was the love between Anakin and Padme and how did it develop, etc.)
This fan fiction will take you through the events of the movies, and you will get to see these events through various different characters' eyes.
I will not post the fanficiton to this group unless the group owner specifically wants me to.
If interested in participating, please either reply to this or send me a private message. (A private message would probably be better. That way I see it for sure).

Invitation to a Draco/Harry Role Playing GameI would like to invite folks to join us in a new Harry/Draco role playing game on LJ. This is a kind of collective story telling that might be of interest to folks on the list. We only have four of the characters cast yet so there is plenty of room for more people. (Note: I am a player, not the moderator. See  ready_to_fall_m for more information.) Dumbledore's dead. The Death Eaters are taking down Order members, Aurors, and good wizards left and right. The horcruxes need to be destroyed. And in the midst of this, an unusual love begins to blossom. At first Harry Potter thinks that it is a girl, perhaps Ginny, sending him mysterious messages through the post, offering encouragement and hope. But as his final year at Hogwarts continues and the traitor Draco Malfoy returns, pardoned of charges by the Ministry and Headmistress, Harry begins to see the messages in a whole new light. This RP is new, and, if you cannot tell by the summary, it is very loosely canon based. Obviously JKR isn't going to write H/D into the 7th book, but my inner fangirl digresses... The rest of HBP stands firm and proud in this RPG and will not be ignored. The following characters already have places in the storyline and are vacant -- Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood, Ernie Macmillan, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Seamus Finnigan, and more. Other characters will, of course, be accepted. It is asked that you read the storyline and rules before filling out the application as it will help in character development [especially if you choose a character listed].

Four friends spoke those famous words long before they became famous for their heroism and (unfortunately) betrayals. Follow the Marauders, their friends, and enemies as they journey though life in 1977. There are N.E.W.Ts to study for, fun to be had, and yes, even hard-ache. Many are finding comfort in an old project, once given to boost school moral, that is now giving many a sense of hope. The First War is in full swing, and Voldemort is gaining more power every day. Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, along with several students and alumni form the resistance force called The Order of the Phoenix.

Melony was watching a bad sci-fi. She wouldn't have picked it out for herself, but Sam saw it in the rental store and got it for her (it was the free one in her 3 for 2). The problem was that it shouldn't have been classed as sci-fi at all, but horror. She gazed through the screen ignoring the gore, wondering about the fantastical applications of that science, and how much they could have done with the concept. The science content was pretty much non-existent. They'd gone beyond technical jargon, and just gone with ordinary words that meant nothing. Finally, she gave it up as a loss, and forwarded most of the rest of the movie, stopping for dialogue in the unlikely event that any interesting plot twists were immenent. Sam wouldn't mind too much. It was hard for Sam to know what to choose for Melony, though her choices for herself were predictable and enjoyable. Melony really enjoyed having time to herself, despite her confinement for so long. Open University in the early hours was usually followed by Sam getting up, preparing things for Melony to sspend the day alone and then going off to school. At first she had resented her daughter having to look after her, but now it was routine. It hadn't been so very different when Melony was well, but Sam lending a helpful and willing hand was very different from Sam feeling obliged. Melony had insisted on home help, but for the month or so that a community nurse came, there was very little for her to do. At the end of the film, Melony was brimming with half baked ideas, and turned to her canvas for the morning's work. She kept a doodle pad about to help. It was scattered with little sketches of people, a lot of hands and one or two eyes. There were also a few scribbled words here and there, most of which had meant something at the time but were now illegible. Some of them had developed into full ideas, and become paintings hanging in galleries making statements about some issue or other. For the first time her two greatest hobbies were coming together into a collection of comissioned sci-fi paintings. Hopefully this collection would give her husband a bit of a break from the press. Not that he minded too much, his views being similar to hers. He certainly understood the paintings, being an art critic, though soemtimes came up with laughable insights. Melony opened the morning mail as soon as it arrived. There was a thick envelope, manilla, A4, covered in foreign stamps. It was stuck down with brittle cellotape, which ripped away the brown revealing the bright colours of a paint package. Melony opened it eagerly, prepared for them to have got the order wrong. It was a small company in central Africa that supplied unique colours. She'd tried to mix them herself out of normal oil colours, but she never quite got the right sheen. He choice of colour was something she was partiicularly renowned for, and she was looking forward to trying out this shade of pink in the eyes of her bug. She set the unwrapped box on a table and pulled open off the lid. Inside were six shoe-polish containers, that as usual, looked used, cleaned, repainted and refilled. Melony twisted the catch and opened the lid. Under the paper cover was paint, beautiful stuff, rich and shining. This one was greenish yellow. She took a marker pen and marked the lid. The second tin contained the pink she was hoping for, exactly as the sample sheet showed it. The third paper had stuck, and as she pulled, the block of oil colour came away to reveal a false bottom. Feeling cheated, Melony turned out the oil block onto the paper. The tin was still heavy without it. She threw it down out of disappointment, hearing before she saw the base of the tin spin away, leaving white dust everywhere.

Tragic by Default is a slightly different role-play; we take place in both marauder and trio era and we're only slightly au. We follow events rather canonly but have tweaked certain facts here and there to keep the game interesting. How do we do it? Trio-era characters will be played as though they are researching the past ministry and order battles against the Knights of Walpurgis and their leader, Voldemort. This is due to the most recent attack against the school that has not only the staff but students spooked. Marauder-era characters will be played as though they are approaching what comes to be known as the first war.

Hello all. I saw this group on livejournal and thought I'd get involved, as I'm a Star Wars fan as many of you seem to be. I thought I'd let you all know that I am a part of a Star Wars RPG group that is online based and just getting off the ground. I figured since you all like to write, you might also be interested in Roleplaying! Our release date is scheduled for May 1st, and we're trying to get as many people to join as possible. If any of you are interested in joining, go ahead and register on the forums ( http://www.swrote.com). Our group uses the official d20 RPG rules created by Wizards of the Coast, but don't worry, we're all a friendly bunch, so even if you aren't terribly familiar with the rules, they're very accessible and there're lots of people to help you learn them. Very soon, some of the rules will even be posted on the website to make the game even easier to get into. Since our release date isn't until May 1st, none of you have missed anything. Just to let you all know, it's played in an alternate universe, so there's no Vader or Han Solo. It's like that so that the players can rise up and become the heroes or villains of the galaxy, and in this community, if you're bold enough you might rise to the fame and stature of Luke Skywalker. The game is played in AIM chat rooms, and AIM can be downloaded for free and used by anyone. If any of you are interested, please register on our forums and start talking to us.
