Okay, I really didn't want to do this. I normally don't mind sharing my thoughts with the world at large, but recent marketing decisions by LiveJournal have left me feeling like I have no choice. *sigh* If you want to be added to my f-list, please comment to this entry. I can't promise I will add everyone who asks, but I will do my best to give everyone fair consideration, at least.

My Dreamwidth journal is still public, and I will eventually be moving my fanfic and other creative endeavors over there. If there is a particular story, icon, whatever that you would like to be able to get to, let me know and I'll move it up in the queue. :-)

Sorry, I REALLY did intend to have a full letter up here before this, but I forgot I was going out of town for two weeks. I promise I WILL write one after I get home on 7/21, so if you get assigned to me, please check back then.

In the meantime, THANK YOU mystery author for writing me fic. I promise I will give you more to go on before you have to have the story finished. :-)

So. After much thought, I made a conscious decision NOT to nominate/sign up for Yuletide this year. It's the first time in years that I haven't, and I'm on the pinch hit list so I may wind up participating yet, but for the moment at least, I am out. And I feel a surprisingly HUGE sense of relief at this.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Yuletide. But I put a lot of pressure on myself when I'm writing for it--even though I almost always love my assignment--and just taking that pressure off has me looking forward to the holidays SO MUCH MORE this year. I'm participating in a couple of other exchanges instead, and for whatever reason, I'm not feeling the pressure with them as much. (At least, not yet!) One is Due South Sekrit Santa--I've been on a dS kick anyway since I wrote it for rarepairfest, so that gives me a head start in a way. *g* The other is Festivids, which I missed out on for the past couple of years because of a) video editing software problems and a lack of source video to offer, and b) Yuletide pressures. I've really missed participating in both of these, so I'm glad I chose them. I can't wait to get my Festivids assignment and start planning. :-)

Yuletide, as much as I love it, had I think started to feel almost more like an obligation. The "but I don't want to be left out" side of me kept overruling the side that was burned out. And I think that was a mistake. I think it just burned me out more. Hopefully, taking a year off (or more, if needed) will help me get back the excitement and when I *do* come back, it'll be more fun and less stressful again. :-)

I will definitely still be reading the archive when it opens, and as I said, I may pick up a pinch hit or two if anything inspires me, but for now I'm just going to enjoy the break and focus on my DSSS and Festivids assignments.

Thank you so much for creating a vid for me! I love fanvids and love receiving creative gifts, so I love this exchange and missed participating in it while my vidding software hated me. So please be assured, chances are whatever you make for me will be ADORED.

I think I covered most of my requests for the specific fandoms in my sign-up, so I'll reiterate them but probably not add anything. But since I know I was a lot more vague on the music requests, below the cut is just a list of several artists I enjoy to give you an idea of just how BROAD (and shameless in some cases *g*) my tastes are. You can go with one of the mentioned artists if you want, but you don't have to. The ONE thing I would ask you to scrupulously avoid is any metal song with death growls in it. I love certain genres of metal, but that is one feature that just...sounds so silly to me that it makes it impossible to take the song seriously. If that makes sense?

Oh. Also, it should be noted that I have a thing for songs from movies/TV shows/musicals. Half my CD collection is soundtracks. I'll include a few of those as well.

First, my requestsCollapse )

Anyway, on to the music list:

Musicians/Musical groups I enjoyCollapse )

Okay, that's still not an exhaustive list, but it should give you a REALLY good general idea. *g* If there's an artist you think I'd like based on any of these, please feel free to go with that instead. As long as you have fun making the vid, that's all I really care about. And thank you again SO MUCH for making it for me!

Okay, first off, I am SO SORRY it took me so long to finish this. I completely forgot about it. *facepalm* Here's hoping you've checked back to see it now that it's done, but if not, I THINK I had most of the information as of the time you received your assignment.

Second, YAY, you're writing due South for me! My love for this show got reawakened in a big way a few months ago when I wrote it for another exchange, and I think I've read all of the fanfic in my favorite 'ships already, so I am looking forward SO MUCH to whatever you are going to write/make for me!

Third, and most importantly, I am overall an incredibly easy person to please. My only major DNW is I can't 'ship Fraser and Kowalski together without Vecchio in the mix too. I know that's a weird one, quite probably incomprehensible to a lot of fans (I'll explain it more under the cut), and if you're one of them, I'm extremely sorry! But thank you for taking on the challenge! As long as you can avoid that and my hardcore squicks, though, pretty much anything else I mention in here is completely optional. I provide a lot of detail because I'm a verbose sort of person *sheepish grin*, but that's only because I know when I'm writing for someone, the more I know about what they like, the easier it is. So, I try to provide the same. So, here's the run-down:

Thank you so much for making something from me! I have a tendency to over-inform in these kinds of letters, but since this is an exchange of smaller proportions, I'll try to keep it brief this time. Especially since I included prompt ideas in my sign-up. :-) Main thing is don't stress yourself out: I am very flexible and happy to receive whatever you decide to make, especially if you have fun making it! :-) Please try to avoid my dislikes, but other than that, everything else is provided for your benefit and can be ignored if it doesn't inspire.

Thank you mystery author!

On the off chance that anyone wants to try to guess which story I wrote *g*, all I'll say is that it's a fandom I've written before, but a 'ship I haven't. (Well, unless you count unfinished WIPs, but I have so many of those in so many different fandoms/pairings that I wouldn’t consider that much of a clue. ;-) )

WHEW! I finally finished. Sorry that took so long! Clearly I had a lot of thoughts. *sheepish grin* This first part I borrowed pretty much verbatim from my Yuletide letter, but everything in it still holds true.

First off, and more importantly than anything else, EEEEEEEEEEEEE, you're going to write a story for me! You have no idea how happy you have already made me just by virtue of this fact alone. *g* Please keep that in mind.

Secondly, there is A LOT of stuff I like. I multiship, I rarely have unbreakable OTPs, and I like just about every type of pairing genre (gen, het, slash, femslash, poly, etc.) and pretty much any rating. Which basically means if there is a story you feel inspired to write in whatever our matched fandom is, chances are--as long as you avoid the things on my dislikes list--I'll love it.

That said, I've always been firmly in the "too much detail is better than not enough" camp when it comes to fanfic exchanges, so there is a lot of information under the cuts. In fact, I swear it gets longer every year. *blush* But please don't be intimidated by that! The detail I provide is intended for your benefit. If you don't need it, please feel free to disregard at least 90% of it. ;-)

Anyway, without further ado...

Okay, that's it! Sorry for the length and rambling, but please remember one important thing above all: I love ALL of these options and will be happy with pretty much whatever you write for me. The information I've provided is all intended to help you, and if it doesn't, ignore it. :-) (Well, maybe except the dislikes. ;-) )

Thank you again SO much for taking this on, and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Dear Prime Time Player,

THANK YOU so much for writing a story for me in one of these fandoms! I love them all so much and they're all too big for Yuletide so this is one of my favorite times of year next to Yuletide. *g*

The first and most important thing to know about me is that I am INCREDIBLY easy-going. I tend to pour a lot of information into these letters because a) I'm naturally verbose and b) I figure better to give you too many options than too few, but I'm not kidding when I say pretty much ANYTHING about these characters would be adored. :-) I'd prefer if you avoid my squicks and NoTPs, but that's all. The prompts are purely provided for your convenience. Also, the number of prompts provided in NO way indicates a preference among the requested characters. :-) Since I know whichever fandom we matched on, you've matched on all the characters, if you *can* work them all into one story? That would be awesome. But you don't have to! You'll even notice that most of my specific prompts will be for just the character in question (and those that aren't I only list under one of the requested characters involved for simplicity's sake).

General Likes and DislikesCollapse )

Babylon 5Collapse )

Doctor Who (Big Finish)Collapse )

How I Met Your MotherCollapse )

...I think that's it! Again, sorry for the infodump nature of the post, but I hope it helps. Either way, whether you include all my requested characters or just one, follow a prompt or go your own way, I hope writing this story is as fun for you as reading it will be for me! :-) Can't wait to see what you come up with, and thanks again!

Posted about this to my Tumblr a few days ago but forgot to cross-post here, but since reveals have been delayed by [personal profile] medie's power getting knocked out...there's still time!

If you're involved in [community profile] fandom_stocking this year--or even if you aren't and you just like making fannish gifts for people--we STILL need volunteers to help fill up a few stockings that are a little light on content!

The volunteer post is here:

http://fandom-stocking.dreamwidth.org/456838.html

Just post your name, a list of fandoms people have requested that you can create gifts in, and a way for the mods to contact you privately to point you in the direction of the neediest stockings. OR, since it is kinda last minute, PM me and I can hook you up with a few since I'm kind of an assistant elf. *g*

We ESPECIALLY need volunteers in some anime and/or obscure fandoms, so PLEASE read through the list of tags before volunteering so you don't miss any fandoms you'd be willing to offer if you knew about them. :-) Or heck, actually, feel free to PM me about that too. *g*

Thanks so much in advance, guys!

Dear Yuletide author,

First off, let me begin by saying a huge THANK YOU. You are going to write me a story and that makes you awesome by default.

Second, I know there is a lot of information in my optional details, and there will be even more in this letter, but please know I am REALLY easy-going at heart. I'm just a) a very wordy person by nature, and b) a firm believer in the "too much information is better than too little" school of fanfic exchanges. You are not under any obligation to try to squeeze all of this into whatever you write for me, or really even any of it! (Although granted, I'd prefer if you avoid my squicks. ;-) ) The prompts are just to help you along if you get stuck, or to give you a better idea what sort of things I like. If you have a brilliant idea that takes none of the information I've provided into account? Go for it! Chances are pretty darn high that I will love it regardless because it is from a fandom I love that I don't see enough fanfic for.

But if a little more information would help...here it is:

Dear Author,

Just so you know, the fact that you are going to write a story for me in one of my favorite fandoms means you are already my hero. :-) So don't worry too much about the details; I will almost certainly love anything you come up with regardless! I am going to provide a lot of details, but that's only because a) I'm a very thinky and wordy person and when I write one of these, all those thoughts and words come out ;-) and b) I've always felt it better to provide too much information than too little, because then you can pick and choose and don't have to worry that I didn't tell you about something that will be a deal-breaker.

That said, if the amount of information provided proves overwhelming, please feel free to ignore it all (well, except maybe the squicks *g*)!

Okay, so authors have been revealed at [profile] rarepairfest, which means I can tell you I wrote the following for [personal profile] muccamukk:

A Kind Word and a Two-by-Four (8745 words) by Azar
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Babylon 5
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Marcus Cole/Stephen Franklin, Marcus Cole/Susan Ivanova
Characters: Marcus Cole, Stephen Franklin, Susan Ivanova, Sech Turval, Sech Durhan, Delenn
Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Unrequited Love, Unresolved Sexual Tension, Male Character of Color, Canon Character of Color
Summary: A Ranger is trained to "truly see and to see things as they truly are in all situations." When Marcus finds himself unexpectedly alive after he meant to sacrifice himself, it forces him to realize how little he's applied that principle when it comes to his own heart.</p>

For the Night has Been Unkind (3043 words) by Azar
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Babylon 5
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Michael Garibaldi/Jeffrey Sinclair, Michael Garibaldi/Lise Hampton
Characters: Michael Garibaldi, Delenn, Jeffrey Sinclair
Additional Tags: Post-Canon, Angst, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence
Summary: Forgiveness is a hard thing.</p>

Mucca, I was so excited when I got assigned to you, since I had been drooling over your requests on your letter. *g* And then I realized I had a problem: which one to choose??? I considered four or five, researched/pre-wrote three, and ultimately ended up writing two. Although that was a close scrape: Garibaldi absolutely refused to give me anything until I was halfway through the Marcus/Franklin one, at which point he apparently got jealous and then wouldn't shut up. *facepalm* Thankfully, I was able to finish both. :-)

Anyway, I had a ton of fun writing them and I hope you enjoyed them half as much! :-)

Dear rarepairfest author!

OMG, you're going to write a story for me! And about one of my favorite pairings that don't get a lot of fanfic! Have I mentioned lately that I love you? :-D

Okay, first thing I should probably mention is I am *incredibly* easygoing. I love all of the pairings listed here and you don't have to include anything I put on my likes list unless it fits, although I would prefer you avoid most of the things on the dislikes/squicks list. Also, you don't have to use ANY of the prompts I provided if you have a better idea: they are provided just in case they might spark something useful. :-) That said? I will provide a LOT of information in this letter--partly because I'm just wordy like that, partly because I figure it's better to provide too much information than too little. ;-) But let me reiterate again, this information is here to help you: anything that isn't a help, please feel free to ignore!

General likes/dislikesCollapse )

Babylon 5Collapse )

Quantum LeapCollapse )

due SouthCollapse )

Marvel Cinematic Universe/Avengers movieverseCollapse )

Primeval: New WorldCollapse )

Okay, that's it! But I know I'm a bit, erm, verbose, so the TL;DR version is this--I haven't asked for a single pairing that I would be less excited to receive, so please write whatever will be the most fun for you! Thanks again SO much for writing for me, and I can't wait to see what you come up with! :-)
