Born and raised in Limestone County and currently live near the Elk River. Married for 35 years with one daughter and two grandchildren. • Improve Education with a state lottery - instead of watching millions of dollars bleed across our borders to Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, or Mississippi, that money would be staying at home, working for you and your children.
  • Expanded Medicaid, so our neighbors wouldn’t be living with the highest rates of diabetes and heart disease in the nation…so rural hospitals wouldn’t be shutting their doors but their communities would instead be reaping the improved health and economic benefits that come when those hospitals thrive. Affordable health care in general is a top concern. Medical expenses are the number one reason people file for bankruptcy or delay treatment until it’s too late. Medicaid expansion provides coverage across age groups for those 19 to 64.
  • Protect the Environment by supporting conservation efforts to prevent soil erosion, water depletion, ground water contamination and biodiversity collapse. Alabama is a world class natural wonder and protecting the Tennessee River and its tributaries from pollution will be one of my top priorities. I’m a longtime member of the Tennessee Riverkeepers and a certified master naturalist.
Public Safety --- I wrote the “Providing False name to Law Enforcement Officer” law. Rep Randy Hinshaw introduced it and it passed almost immediately. As a retired police supervisor public safety is near and dear to me. Legislators can help provide the tools (laws and resources) to support law enforcement officers do their jobs better and to be safer. Community policing is key to being successful at reducing crime and building trust with citizens.
