Ugh. I woke up to pee and then just...did not feel like going back to sleep. That was about an hour ago. Nap Day was a mistake yesterday. Pumpkin is happily snoring under my comforter and Caprice is asleep on the other side of the bed, but they'll both follow me out here when they realize I'm gone.

I'm back to reading Stony! (kita, I am absolutely going to start Ghost Story tomorrow; I meant to bring it to bed with me, realized I'd forgotten it, then was too lazy to get up.) I read a cute Iron Chef AU and now I'm on some kind of random college AU where Steve's a quarterback and Tony's a...nerd. I always have to suspend my disbelief really hard on these because no one ever remembers Tony'd graduated MIT by 17.

I recently read the Reciprocity series by osprey_archer and that was some fantastic Stucky where Bucky's basically rebuilding himself and Steve is trying to be his rock. But the most wonderful part of it is how she characterizes Bucky. We have a huge influx of broken!Bucky and blank!Bucky and gentle!Bucky in the fandom but she goes for asshole!Bucky and it's GREAT; I just feel like this kind of stuff would not predispose you to being polite. I also like her take on his time with the Russians because it feels more in line with the comic books, at least How They Treated Him-wise.

So...anybody into The Strain? I haven't read the books, yet, but I kind of adore the tv show. I hate Eph for obvious reasons, but Vasiliy is my favorite and I would allow him and Setrakian on my team for strigoi killing. It's one of the few shows I watch that I cannot eat during, though. Something about the fucking worms, man. Ugh.

I am...behind on so many shows! I'm really terrible about it. I haven't seen the last two episodes of last season's SHIELD, nor any of this season; I only saw the first episode of this season's Hannibal (another show I can't eat during!); I'm YEARS behind on The Walking Dead and my mother's been pushing me to pick up Fear the Walking Dead; Amy's been asking me to catch up on Superantural (I stopped after the Wizard of Oz episode; I freaking hated it, sorry, not sorry); Teen Wolf I'm missing last season and this one; then there's so, so many others. I never actually STARTED The Originals, but I think I have all of it on my DVR. I'm a bad person. (It's weird how, when given the choice of fiction media, I gravitate toward horror/supernatural but when given the choice of what to watch when I'm feeling anxious, which is all the time, I gravitate toward true crime. Because nothing says, "Everything's okay!" like shows about murder, I guess.)

My movie watching was derailed by my back injury (movie seats and sitting in the same place for two hours, you know), but I'm going to see Crimson Peak this weekend. And I've watched a few of the movies I own but had never seen recently. What We Do in the Shadows is hilarious and I highly recommend it. We made Debbie watch Pitch Perfect but none of us have seen the sequel, yet. We made Roxie watch The Princess Bride because she had never seen it and that was just wrong.

Last year, I watched a British vampire movie that Google Play labels as Hunted but you can only find info on the internet under Rupert. It was surprisingly good. Not at all what I expected.

We watched Lucy a few weeks ago. Ugh, what a waste of talent. Like, it could have been good, I guess, even when you have to ignore How Science Works, but it just...wasn't. I wanted to like it, we all did, but by the end, we were like, "Why did we waste our time on that?" I wish I hadn't bought it, tbh. I have a bad habit of buying movies that look interesting when I'm half asleep, forgetting about it, then being all, "Oh, what's this?" when I'm looking for something to watch.

Age of Ultron was kind of a massive disappointment. Like...I did like it; I did. James Spder's Ultron was adorable. But I expected more out of it and I really hated some of the forced elements in it. Joss Whedon, you can do better. I'm all for rareships, but give us some warning, yes? EVERYONE had expected Clintasha; even the actors expected Clintasha. I feel like Black Hulk came out of nowhere and then...went nowhere. Did he just forget about Betty? Also, Clint's married? Half of fandom screamed TAHITI, but that's some serious retconning if they go that route. Idk, I was just...it was okay, I bought it, but I wanted it to be better.

Fury Road, though. Wow. Not only is it a spectacular Mad Max movie but they managed to make it without being sexist. *slow clap for George Miller* I have waxed poetic on the fight scene between Max and Furiosa several times on Tumblr by now so I feel like I should shut up about it, but damn. Hearteyes. And the practical FX! *bites knuckle*

Oh! Kingsman was way, way better than I thought it would be. Debbie and I saw it because it was the only thing at all interesting and both of us loved it. Until I saw Fury Road, Harry Hart's fight scene in the church was, hands down, the best fight scene choreography I've ever seen that didn't come out of a straight up martial arts film. And how adorable is Taron Egerton?
