Thank you for holding the fest again this year and thank you for letting me participate again. With the changes going on in America right now, it is more important than ever to change the way that people think about LGBT people.

Also, here's a story that I wrote and posted today for the lgbtfest that is going on.

Creating The Chasm
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing/characters: Lily Evans, Petunia Evans
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters written herein.
Prompt: 419. Petunia and Lily Evans. Petunia Evans hated her sister ever since Lily laughed and told her that there was no magic spell to make these strange feelings go away.
Summary: Petunia couldn't accept the feelings inside her and Lily couldn't make them go away.
Warnings: (if any) Derogatory language
Author's Notes: (if any) Thanks to my sister who made me feel so much like Petunia that it made this easy to write from memory. We've now resolved our issues but it made growing up lesbian so much more difficult than it should have been.

May has come. I have been unable to access LJ for some time, so I haven't been able to remind you all that from May 1st to May 18th, you can post your contributions here in the community. I look forward to see what you have all come up with. And remember to invite your friends to participate as well - there's still time!

Happy writing/drawing/ranting/posting!

I have decided on the prompt for the IDAHO challenge 2008!

Seeing that there were such a relatively large amount of contributors last year (despite my embarrassing time limit of – what was it? – two weeks), I decided that we’d repeat the success and see if we couldn’t make it even BIGGER this time around. As soon as this entry has been posted, I will start promoting this challenge in every possible place I’m allowed in. So, everybody, remember to tell your friends! New faces are more than welcome; they are adored and kissed and hugged.

This year I even give you several months in which to use and show your creativity. During the month of May and until the deadline of May 17th, you can post your contributions directly to this community (check the rules; they’ve been updated). I look forward to see what people come up in honour of the International Day Against Homophobia, 2008!

So. The prompt. Aren’t we all excited? I’m pretty happy about this one myself, so I hope you’ll all find it inspiring as well.

“I have said to you to speak the truth is a painful thing.
To be forced to tell lies is much worse.”

~ Oscar Wilde, De Profundis

Interpret this any way you like. It’s not something you need to quote in your story. It’s a prompt; a place to start and whatever direction it may lead your imagination is the right direction. No rights, no wrongs. As long as it lives up to the ideals of IDAHO.

!Happy writing/drawing/creating/sharing/reading/promoting!

Hello, I’m the friendly (and very late, *is so very embarrased*) moderator of celebrate_idaho and after almost a year’s wait, I’m popping up to post the list of contributions people made for “IDAHO 2007 Multifandom Fic & Art Challenge”.

I sincerely apologise about this not having been done prior to this point. Exams took up my summer and then life got in the way and so LJ was generally abandoned. However, now the list is here and I hope that you will all consider participating again this year (yes! I’m planning on doing a similar challenge this year, keep an eye out for this community, because sometime during February a new challenge will be posted, giving people a little more time to work with than what was the case last year).

With the apology done, I would like to thank everybody who have been involved in the challenge the last time and I hope to see you all (and some more, I need to promote… everybody is welcome to tell their friends when time comes!) contributing to raise the awareness of hate crimes and homophobia in our world.

MasterlistCollapse )

This is it. This is what we managed to come up with in 2007. Thank you for the support, despite the very limited time-frame and I hope to see your contributions again this year.

Be safe and continue loving.

~ S.

Title: Unapologetic or Why Making Haruka and Michiru Relatives Doesn't Conceal Their Relationship
Fandom: Sailor Moon - anime
Characters/Pairings: Lots of Michiru, some Haruka, some Haruka/Michiru
Prompt: Understanding, it's misunderstood at celebrate_idaho.
Rating: PG-13 for suggestiveness and girls kissing
Word Count: ~ 12.000
Summary: Michiru has been invited to play an ensemble with Haruka at a Valentine's Concert in America - only to find out that the organizer of said concert has stated them to be cousins. She is not happy about it.
Disclaimer/Author's Notes: Follow the fake cut...

Title: Belonging
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist (anime, post-movie)
Disclaimer: FMA belongs to Hiromu Arakawa, not me.
Characters/Pairings: Winry Rockbell, Kain Fuery/OC, other OCs
Rating: PG-13, mainly for ouchies.

Warning: There are not-sexually-explicit non-heterosexual relationships mentioned in the fic. If you have issues with this, don't follow the link. Likewise, if you are here looking for hot yaoi sex, don't follow the link either.

Summary: Winry Rockbell has moved to a recovering Central City and discovers she's following closer in her parent's footsteps than she could have imagined.

Author's Note Concerning the Prompt: I think I was trying to get across that understanding is more than talking through religious and other issues and passing legislation. It's people sitting down and getting to know other people. It's people caring about other people, and recognizing that every human bleeds red. It's something that takes place in the long-term and can't be forced, but is still worth pushing toward. I suppose I was trying to explain how understanding is misunderstood.

Title: Moving On
Author: kuchenhexe
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Gracia Hughes x Maria Ross, with Maes Hughes x Gracia Hughes history, of course.
Rating: R
Wordcount: 4453
Theme: "Understanding, it's misunderstood" written for IDAHO (International Day Against Homophobia) fandom challenge 2007. (celebrate_idaho)
Warning: End of series, maybe?
Disclaimer: Fullmetal Alchemist (Hagane no Renkinjutsushi) is copyrighted by Hiromu Arakawa/Studio BONES/Square Enix. This is a work of fanfiction for personal entertainment only. Gracia's mother is partially inspired by Carnivale's Rita Sue, only far less slutty and far more proper.
Author's Notes: I've been wanting to write this pairing for a while. I apologize if it happens to come across as a little stilted in parts, I was having some initial trouble with figuring out how to handle the challenge theme with what I wanted to write, and vice versa.

She still missed him -- that would never truly go away. Part of her heart was buried with him, and would remain there. But little by little, the empty hole left behind stopped hurting. The loneliness faded. The sun came back.

After telling one of my friends about my IDAHO fic, she decided that she wanted to do something for the event as well. Seeing that she doesn't have a LJ and doesn't intend to get one, I am posting her picture, however, I can't emphasize enough that the picture below is not mine. Enjoy anyways, because it's a great pic.

Title: It's a Drag
Artist: Sanne Graversen
Rating: PG-13 for tears and blood
Summary: "Hey mate, can you tell me the way to the nearest gay bar, I want to shoot a couple of fags..."
Prompt: "Understanding, it's misunderstood", DAD
Artist's Notes: Interpret it any way you want.

We're here because there's no vacation from gay-bashing.Collapse )

This contribution I found by pure coincidence on youtube.com after searching for Haruka/Michiru AMVs. I found it very well done and the message is clear. "If one of us isn't free, then none of us are free." Beautiful and definitely worth a watch in the name of IDAHO.

Title: Gay Marriage
Contributor: karinalombard
Rating: PG-13 for male/male, female/female kissing
Summary: Why gay marriage should be allowed.
Artist's Notes: I did this video for a school project with a friend, we had to pick a topic and get the class the agree with us. Our topic was gay marriage and why it should be legal. We needed to have some type of video to help support the topic and the presentation had to last 30 min. So i did this video and i thought i should share because i gives a great message to everyone who thinks that being gay or lesbian is wrong and that they shouldn't get married.
