After 2 hours of forcing myself to stay in the library I've come to discover a few things:

1.) The Library is not that quiet - it's just filled with a lot of people trying to whisper. And they can't whisper so it just sounds like "WHISS WHISS WHISSS WHISSS" and it's creepy and people need to stop doing that.

2.) There are never outlets near where you are. Even if you move to someplace where you saw an outlet, the second you sit down it will disappear only to reappear right next where you just moved from. And it's occupied. By someone who does not look friendly.

3.) The Library has terrible chairs that create back-pain to the point that you will need to stretch out on the floor to readjust your spinal cord.

4.) Stretching out on the Baruch College Library floor is frowned upon.

Life updates:

- Dating Hat Kid, but not in a relationship yet cause I'm pretty flighty with these things and want to give it time.

- Another job interview in Thursday. Gotta call them on tuesday to confirm.

- Got an A- on my first major article for journalistic writing. Total shock because I forgot what good grades felt like.

- Baruch informed me I can't graduate early and have to take a bunch of elective courses instead. Now I can take more Black Studies classes with Lewin - I'm excited! Next semester he's teaching Black Economics! Hopefully I get my early reg again and get snatch a seat :)

Andrew: *passes by Caroline studying on 7th floor of Vertical Campus* Hey, have you seen Kristen?
Caroline: Yeah, she's in Music for another 20 mins.

*Hat Kid passes, holding skateboard, sopping wet.*

Andrew: Hey, is that the kid you like who gave you a hard time?
Caroline: Yeah....HEY, HAT KID, DID YOU GET CAUGHT IN THE RAIN.
Hat Kid: Huh...oh, no it's sweat.
Andrew: Uh, aren't you gonna shower, bro?
Hat Kid: *shrugs* Nahhh

*Hat Kid leaves as Caroline and Andrew stare at eachother in disbelief*

Caroline: Oh...oh my god...OH MY GOD....
Andrew: You better be over that kid RIGHT NOW or I'm gonna fucking puke!
Caroline: OH MY GOD YES...OH GOD, WHY DOESN'T HE SHOWER? THAT'S FUCKING DISGUSTING.
Andrew: *frantically texting* I dunno, but I'm texting Kristen and telling her that you had a crush on a kid that smells like a fucking homeless person!!!
 

Okay, the spring 2012 classes were posted this morning and I figured out a way to get my schedule so I only have to go into class on Tues/Thurs.

It kinda sucks cause then Kristen probably won't be able to take classes with me - but, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I figure if I only go into class 2 days a week I could probably get by on not having to buy a monthly AND can go job hunting for a job and work 5 days a week.

Just need to make sure The Ticker keeps giving me early registeration and I'll be golden.

I always find it super weird when I see Professors outside of a classroom setting.

I think it's because I was raised in a strict Catholic primary school setting and was hardwired as a kid to think that your teachers couldn't possibly survive outside of a classroom because sunlight would make them melt or something. Also, all the Nuns that taught me always seemed to wear the same 3 outfits so I was convinced that it was because they lived in the book closet.

Obviously now I don't think that (though my Nuns/Closet theory holds for different reasons these days), but I always get kind of nervous when I see old teachers come into the store or Professors out eating lunch.

Today after writing, I met up with Kristen to get some coffee and on the line was my writing professor and I got really embarrassed. Which is really stupid cause he's young and really only like 5 years older than me, but still - TEACHERS OUTSIDE? WHAT KIND OF WORLD IS THIS!

He turned and saw me and was like, "Oh hi Caroline, you like their coffee too or did my lecture just make you sleepy?"

And I did this really awkward smile laugh thing and tried to say something friendly back but I'm pretty sure it sounded like, "Gahbahbah nawh professawh yoos class dis neece hah ha har."

He then paid for his coffee, said goodbye and left and Kristen looked at me like I was the most pathetic person in the universe - which isn't that far off.

Oh Baruch..the broken escalators, the crowded elevators, nobody speaking a word of English...

DARLIN' I'VE MISSED YA <3

Mom drove me into the city since the LIRR is still down from the hurricane, which works for me. The less money I spend on tickets the better. Kristen and Andrew met up with me when I was at the ID Center (I've lost it in the subway months ago but never got around to replacing it) and it took me 10 minutes after I left to realize I never paid for it.

Which led to:
Caroline: "Oh shit - I didn't pay for this!"
Andrew: *directing Caroline out of building by her shoulders* "Don't worry about it - this place sucks. If I could, I'd steal the fucking garbage cans."
Kristen: "Why would you steal THAT?"
Andrew: *still pushing Caroline* "Because I hate them."

Afterwards Kristen came with me to the comic book shop where I picked up Batgirl #24 (the LAST issue of Steph Brown's run *sniff*) and TMNT #1. I asked if they were hiring - and of course they aren't. Not surprising. I checked a few other shops around the area and nothing - again, not surprised. Maybe I'll look into waitressing? Hmmm....

Sent this week's column to my editor a few minutes ago and I'm probably going to flip through my books before class starts in a few, Broadcast & Cable Communications and then Media Critique - I'M EXCITED. Good feelings about this semester - let's see how long that lasts ahaha

NO CLASSES TOMORROW!

Still the only one with power - oh well! Hopefully the wind doesn't knock out any more powerlines, but so far so good.

To Do List Tomorrow:
- Finish Corona Vice Chapter 5 to get Beta'd
- Finish Column for The Ticker

Baruch says it might not decide on whether to have classes until tomorrow morning. Because even if classes are cancelled, of course they still want to make us get up at 6 am to check.

My place is basically the only place in the area that still has power and really minimum damage - really just a broken window, and some crap on the front lawn.

Though, the MTA is still down until at least Monday Night...sooooo I have no clue about how I'm supposed to get to school if they DO have class.

Oh well! I'm just gonna play Pokemon until I find out - I have a new party of Eevee, Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Glaceon and Leafeon - it's like my Eevee Dream Team <3

I usually work on Sundays though - when the Storms supposed to actually hit - and after I told my manager that if it's really bad I'm not coming in she called me lazy and selfish..NO, YOU RIDICULOUS PERSON, IT'S A GODDAMN HURRICANE!

If I survive this shit, I'm looking for another job - FOR REAL THIS TIME.

Everything was cool until my old Spanish class got canceled so now I'm stuck in a shitty Saturday class since everything other class is full - and required classes never seem to gain any seats, those assholes.



  I'm actually excited that my COM classes are night classes since i never really got to sleep in before. I hope it's better than the last two semesters where I would stay from 8am to 8pm and have to run to catch 9pm train. The problem with night classes is that Penn's train schedule to my town get's pretty unforgiving after 8pm, so all the trains are an hour apart so if i miss that 9pm train I'd have to take a 10pm one and that's just a headache.

Oh well, hopefully it all works out and I'll just have to deal with this crap unti next fall and I'll be done.
