| When sophie was little, in situations where she would be very anxious, such as getting a bath, she would poop, right then and there. Out of fear i suppose. She would have her ears down, like she knew it was wrong but she couldn't hold it in.
It stopped for awhile but shes been doing it more often lately. When me and my fiance were clipping her nails, all of a sudden she pooped on me out of nowhere(ew, ew, ew).
And just now, my fiance took her with him to go drop off something. On the way there he needed to get gas. He was in view, but out of the car pumping gas, while she was in the car. She was crying and he finished putting gas in the car, came back in and she had pooped on his seat. This isn't a thing where she just had to go, its in situations where she gets scared, she just goes. Its very odd. It kind of reminds me of people who have certain types of I.B.S where nerves can set off the need to go to the bathroom urgently.
has anyone ever heard of this problem in dogs? Is there anything we can do? I know that dogs don't like baths, dogs don't like getting their nails cut, and sophie hates being left alone, but i know majority of dogs don't go to the bathroom as a cause of their fear.
When we give her a bath, since she is so scared, we dont run the handheld shower thing anymore, we use a small cup and get her wet and rinse her off that way. That way we minimize the noise, she has stopped pooping in the bath, but she will do it on rare occasions. She has never pooped while getting her nails cut, but she has NEVER liked it. no matter how many treats I give her, no matter if someone is petting her or trying to calm her down, she loathes it.
Im worried about her :( Any suggestions? | comments: 4 comments or post comment |
| So next to my bed I have a table. On this table is a package of Lay's Stax. It's been there for probably a week at the very least. Mason spends most of his days in my room, he's locked in there when I'm not home, and hangs out with me in there when I am home. He spends a lot of time on my bed, and very near this table. Just randomly tonight, he started looking at the Lay's Stax package and barking and growling at it! If I pick it up he looks at it like "OMG PLS DON'T HURT ME!!!!" and runs away!

| I posted earlier about my puppy going to the vet.
All afternoon when we'd play with him he'd freak again, seemingly randomly, similar to the way he did at the vet but on a smaller scale. He was fine most of the time but if we had our hands on his ribcage, even avoiding the injection spot, he'd growl and bite. He was fine if you petted his head, bottom or belly, but not his ribs. At first I thought that he was just reacting to the alpha roll, but he was fine when asleep or not playing, he'd cuddle no problem, and I could scoop him up by the bottom of his ribcage without incident.
He fell asleep earlier and I kissed his cheek and nuzzled him with my nose on the side, he woke with a scream and snapped in my general direction. I was concerned because I had barely touched him and have done this many many times before, so I began gently running my finger over his body, his ribs, bottom, head, everywhere, and every time I touched him on his right side he'd turn and try to nip. I would touch him somewhere else and he'd be fine and then I'd go back to that spot and he'd nip again. Murry was fine before we took him to the vet, the only thing I can come up with is that the vet hurt him somehow when he was holding him down or giving him his meds. As Murry freaked immedately after receiving his shot, I think it may have been the way he was being held, and I'm sure the alpha roll didn't help.
I'm definitely going to call and file a complaint in the morning, but do you guys have any ideas as to what it could be? I'm almost certain it's not the injection spot since it's about halfway down his back and right side, and the injection was in his scruff. If it was the injection spot, would it be this sensitive 8 hours later? He didn't just whimper when I touched him with my nose, he screamed. This is the puppy that fell down 3 ft, landed on his nose, and just sneezed for a minute, while I was sure he had broken his face. He's eating, drinking, and pottying normally and is playing with his toys, he just doesn't want to be touched right there at all, so I don't think anything is broken, just bruised.

EDIT: Called the vet, I was a little worried because the vet I saw had the same initials as the owner of the clinic, but, whew, not the same guy. The receptionist had no idea what an alpha-roll was but she left a note for the owner to call me and put a note in the chart that we never want to see that doctor again. | comments: 4 comments or post comment |
