Eva live action director and financing in place?
According to one of our forum members, zandor117, who was present at the ADV panel at Anime Weekend Atlanta, ADV's David Williams said that the Evangelion live action movie is now moving into production. We have seen no other report, even though the same panel was used to announce several anime licenses that have been reported by reputable anime news sources.
According to zandor117, this is what was said:
Questioner: "Is there anything new about the EVA movie?"
David Williams: "The EVA movie is now in Production"
Questioner: "Can you tell us the director?"
David Williams: "I am not allowed to say that yet."
ADV has not yet commented further.
While this does not seem like full production (i.e. filming actors) or even fully fledged pre-production like set building, the main concrete news seems to be that a director has signed on, moving the project beyond the proposal and development phase. Previously, negotiations were under way with a shortlist of directors who had expressed an interest, but the decision had not been made yet. (source: www.eva.trivialbeing.net)

Hi everyone! so i am new here, obviously. I am a huge fan of Eva, and have watched the series/movie countless times. I recently went to animeboston and dressed as Misato. I also, must admit, I am a fan of Shinji...lets see, just wanted to drop in and say hi. I will be going to connecticon this summer, and before then will be revamping my Misato costume and making her black dress for one day and then redoing the NERV uniform. Anyways, glad to see so many other people who love NGE just as much!

Hola everyone, I am a new member, so no hazing, the Marilyn Manson community was very harsh when it came to that, anyway, I am a huge fan of Eva and yet I found myself in a quandry, I had no dvds of the series or manga, such a distressing fact. So no more than 2 days ago I bought the first volume of the Platinum Edition DVDs with the art box, I knew there was a reason I hadn't bought the perfect collection. I will be getting the manga as well, though with all the other series I'm getting it's quite tough to keep getting new ones. Between Arm of Kannon, Battle Royale, Lovehina, One Piece and Priest, my money is definetly in short supply when it comes to manga. Well, that's enough from me, laters.

*new member; pokes around*
I just wanted to make an introduction & say hello to everyone. Because every EVA fan is priceless. Hands down, Evangelion is my favourite anime ever. I got the box set (as a birthday gift!), both movies.. a majority of the manga, & various merchandise.
What can be said about EVA that everyone else hasn't already said? My friend got me introduced into it from just one picture of Rei & I've been in love ever since. It truly is one of the best anime's of all time, if not the best. A lot of people, at least people on AOL, have said it's really hard to understand. But I found it easy to relate to the characters, as well as what was going on during the storyline.
Under the LJ-cut is a banner of Rei that I manipulated through Photoshop, just thought that fellow EVA fans would enjoy it. All comments are welcome, good as well as the bad, as long as it isn't a flame.
( I know, I know I've let you down..Collapse )

Hey, y'all... ^^; Um, I don't come here, like, ever anymore because I'm a lazy arse. XD;; But yeah-- do y'all already know about the release of Eva volume 9? Well, I run fifth_children, a small LJ community dedicated to Nagisa Kaworu, and I have the first chapter of Eva summarized and a good chunk more or less translated, if any of you are interested. I'll slowly be working on getting the rest up, too... ^^; If anything is incorrect, please feel free to kick me in the arse. :D
Anyway, ciao~! May Tabris be with thee. *bows and saunters off*

Here's a few updates on the Live Action Film:
Aint it Cool News has posted a report on the Boston Anime Convention. With respect to the live action evangelion movie, ADV stated;
"The current status of the live action Neon Genesis Evangelion movie is that a treatment has been created and now talks are underway with potential directors. Because decisions regarding the movie must be approved by a number of parties, news will unlikely be announced during conventions, and instead will come through official channels and press releases."
Also, for a look at a fan-art poster of the film look here: http://www.deviantart.com/view/6174240/ It's not the offical poster, but it's damn cool.

Even though it doesn't seem like much goes on here, I joined anyway. Just because Evangelion is he best anime ever thought up and created. Even though it share the number one favourite spot with the shounen-ai anime Gravitation, Eva is still my number one fav. Either way, I just wanted to say hello with a small introduction.
My name is Marius, I'm 21 and live in California. I'm a real big anime fan as well as jrock, jpop and visual kei, as well as some indies. I make webgraphics in my spare time, incuding journal layouts and icons. I made the one I used for this post. Pretty, ne?
I have an icon community, iconholics, and I just recent made my beautiful Kaworu jounral layout ai_no_genkaku.
I role play on AOL, as Kaworu, under the sn eien no tengai, and Ryuichi Sakuma from the anime/manga Gravitation, under the sn na no da. I can be reached at either of those SNs if anyone cares to maybe make an icon or graphic request. I can also be reached at the sn twiiight suicide, if I'm not on either of those names.
I guess that's all... ^_^;

Bart Howard Bart Howard, a songwriter and pianist best known for his composition Fly Me to the Moon, died Saturday in Carmel, N.Y. He was 88.
The cause was complications from a stroke, said Thomas Fowler, his companion of 58 years.
Born in Burlington, Iowa, Howard moved to Los Angeles in 1934 with dreams of writing music for movies. He later relocated to New York, where singer Mabel Mercer added his song If You Leave Paris to her repertoire. From 1941 to 1945, he served as a musician in the army.
Fly Me to the Moon - also known as In Other Words - first gained fame in 1960, when Peggy Lee sang it on The Ed Sullivan Show. Two years later, it was a hit in instrumental form for conductor Joe Harnell.
His other well-known songs included Let Me Love You and Don't Dream of Anybody but Me.
Howard was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1999.

I was listening to a record [Those big black things that music used to come on before compact discs.] the other day. It was Emerson, Lake and Palmer's "Works" album. It was the first time I had listened to it in about 10 years. There was a piece on the first side that really perked my ears up. It was "Keith Emerson's Piano Concerto No.1". Actually it was the "Third Movement Toccata Con Fuoco" that caught me. Before hearing it this time, the piece always struck me as being very Leonard Bernstein ("West Side Story" among others) sounding. This time something new caught my ear. Something tells me Shiro Sagisu (Composer who scored Evangelion) also had this record. "The Third Movement" reminds me very much of "Angel Attack". To put it politely, it seemed to have REALLY REALLY "inspired" it. It just seems that Shiro forgot (on purpose) to include the Bernstein moments. ^_~.
