I am new to Buddhism but not to meditation. This just seemed like a natural step for me to take.
I am so glad to have found this community.

Hi folks,
I've created a
web site for the East Bay Alphabet Sangha (for LGBTQI & same-gender loving communities)
Folks that aren't in the SF Bay area might be interested in the
retreat calendar and the
resources page.
Peace.

Hi folks,
I wanted to let everyone know about this upcoming daylong with Arinna Weisman. Please feel free to pass the info along wherever there might be interested folks.
Thanks!
LGBTQ/SGL daylong with Arinna Weisman
Saturday, January 26th
9:30am to 5pm
Welcome back, Arinna!
Arinna Weisman, one of the senior teachers of the Vipassana meditation tradition in the West, is returning after practicing in Europe and Australia for the past two years. Arinna along with Eric Kolvig were the first teachers to offer Dharma teachings to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Same Gender Loving communities over 15 years ago. It is with great joy that the East Bay Meditation Center hosts a daylong of meditation taught by Arinna upon her return to North America.
Arinna Weisman has studied insight meditation since 1979 and has been teaching since 1989. Her root teacher is Ruth Denison who was empowered by the great teacher U Bha Khin. She has also studied with Thich Nhat Hanh in the Zen tradition, Punjaji in the Advaita tradition and Tsokney Rinpoche in the Dzogchen tradition. She is the founding teacher of Dhamma Dena Meditation Center (now Insight Meditation Center of the Pioneer Valley/Dhamma Dena). She is co-author of the book, A Beginner’s Guide to Insight Meditation. She teaches throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Cost: The teachings are regarded as priceless. They are offered without charge. You are invited to support the teaching and our efforts by contributing voluntary donations (the practice of “Dana”) for the expenses of the EBMC space and the support of the Teachings.
Registration will be at the door.

I found this very interesting article concerning Buddhism and feminism; two subjects I'm most passionate about.
Buddhism needs FeminismBy the way, I'm new here. My name is Jess and I'm a fledgling Buddhist-to-be. Namaste.

Hello, all!
When I realized that the only Buddhist community on LJ that was woman-specific was
buddhistmoms, I decided to create this one.
My name is Rachael, and I attend
Dai Bai Zan Cho Bo Zen Ji, a Rinzai temple in Seattle. I am relatively new to Buddhism, but not to contemplative practice. I feel very drawn to compassionate action, and am also a member of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship.
Anyone else?
