aggravation

Aggravation

Aggravation refers to the marked deterioration of a state over time. The term is most frequently used in medicine, where aggravation refers to aggravation of a disease or disease symptom. An exaggerated representation of the severity of one's own disease by a patient is also referred to as aggravation, as opposed to dissimulation, the trivialization of disease symptoms.
