The opal is a frequently occurring mineral from the mineral class of "oxides and hydroxides". As an amorphous solid, Opal has no crystal structure and usually occurs as a massive vein filling or bulging. Opals are exclusively made into jewelery. Der Opal ist ein häufig vorkommendes Mineral aus der Mineralklasse der „Oxide und Hydroxide“. Als amorpher Festkörper besitzt Opal keine Kristallstruktur und tritt meist als massige Adernfüllung oder knollig ausgebildet auf. Opale werden ausschließlich zu Schmucksteinen verarbeitet.
