Slendro, also known as Salendro in some sources, Slédro is a seven-stage, tempered almost equal scale in Indonesia, which finds application in Javanese music. In contrast to the European tonal system, whose octave is divided into 12 precisely equal-sized tone levels, the pitches of the Sléndro vary minimally. The pitch of a semitone in the European sound system is 100 cent. In this measure the distances at the Sléndro behave as follows: 223 253 236 225 263. The other of the two tone systems commonly used in gamelan music is called Pelog.
