Somersault

A somersault is an acrobatic exercise in which a person's body revolves 360° with feet passing over the head. A somersault can be performed either forwards, backwards, or sideways and can be executed in the air or on the ground. When performed on the ground it is normally called a roll.

Definition of somersault in the English dictionary

The first definition of somersault in the dictionary is a forward roll in which the head is placed on the ground and the trunk and legs are turned over it. Other definition of somersault is a similar roll in a backward direction. Somersault is also an acrobatic feat in which either of these rolls are performed in midair, as in diving or gymnastics.
