Hypoxia

Hipoxia

In medicine, hypoxia is a state in which the entire body, or a region of the body, is deprived of adequate oxygen supply. Hypoxia is generally associated with heights, being called "mountain sickness." It is especially severe at altitudes above 8,000 meters, but from 3000 can already occur in some people, and especially in animals such as dogs or cats not accustomed to height or young age. It can also occur while diving, especially with closed-circuit rebreather systems, which control the amount of oxygen being breathed. It is also a problem to deal with the flights of airplane, where the passengers are exposed to great heights and change of pressure, being solved with systems of atmospheric connection. The symptoms of generalized hypoxia depend on the severity and speed of the attack. These include headaches, fatigue, nausea, instability, and sometimes even seizures and coma. Severe hypoxia induces a blue skin coloration or cyanosis.
