In zootomy, the integumentary or integumentary system is often the largest organ system of an animal since it completely covers it both externally and numerous internal cavities. Its function is to separate, protect and inform the animal of the environment that surrounds it; Sometimes it also acts as an exoskeleton. It is formed by the skin and the faneras. En zootomía, el sistema integumentario o tegumento, es con frecuencia el sistema orgánico más extenso de un animal ya que lo recubre por completo, tanto externamente, como numerosas cavidades internas. Su función es la de separar, proteger e informar al animal del medio que le rodea; en ocasiones actúa también como exoesqueleto. Está formado por la piel y las faneras.
