Inkwell

Tintero

An inkwell is a small container that contains ink for writing with a pen. Ink cartridges are often made of glass, porcelain, silver, bronze or pewter that is used to keep the ink in a place near and accessible to the person who writes. The user inserts the tip of the pen into the inkwell to write with it on the paper repeating the operation each time he consumes the collected dose. The ink tank usually has a cover in order to avoid contamination, evaporation, accidental spillage and excessive exposure to the air. Metallic inkwell. The inkwell was the usual way of providing ink to feathers prior to spreading the fountain pen with a reliable ejection system at the end of the 19th century. The pen, and to a lesser extent the pencil, replaced the relatively complicated use of the pad, a type of inkless pen that needed to be dipped into the inkwell, which was used for writing. Even so, the first pens continued to use the ink fountain to fill the flexible ink reservoirs with an absorption system.
