Trinchera

In the military field, trenches are called excavations in which the besiegers are sheltered from the fires of the square. The trenches are of two kinds: ▪ Parallel or squares of weapons. They are entrenchments behind which the soldiers gather to shoot. ▪ Communication lines. They are zigzag trenches that link the parallels. The parallels are generally three: ▪ The first, located 600 or 800 meters from the square. ▪ The second, located 350 or 400 meters from the square. ▪ The third, located 150 or 200 meters from the square. After the third parallel no more than square-armored cables are built. The trenches are 1.30 meters deep and the parapet is 1.20 meters high. Its width is 3 meters for the parallels and 1.30 meters for the branches.
