osteogenesis

Ostéogenèse

Osteogenesis is the process by which bone tissue is developed. The bone is formed from: ▪ an organic matrix (35%) composed mainly of collagen type I (90%), but also other proteins such as osteonectin or osteocalcin, a protein synthesized by osteoblasts (vitamin K-dependent synthesis) from which it is secreted in the bone and somewhat in circulation but not released during bone resorption (by osteoclasts), ▪ a very high mineral matrix (60%) rich in calcium (in the form of calcium hydroxyapatite Ca10 (PO4) 6 (OH) 2) and phosphorus, ▪ specific bone cells (5%) (osteoblasts and osteoclasts) and water. Osteogenesis can be of three types: ▪ membranous or periosteal ossification; ▪ an enchondral (endochondral) or cartilaginous ossification; ▪ ossification in a conjunctive environment, which is more rare.
