निकल जाता है । इसीलिये प्रायः लोग स्नान आदि के समय
शरीर मलने के लिये अथवा कुछ विशिष्ट पदार्थों को धोने या
भिगोने के लिये अथवा गीले तल पर का पानी सुखाने के
लिये इसे काम में लाते हैं । यह वास्तव में एक प्रकार के निम्न
कोटि के समुद्री जीवों का आवास या ढाँचा है जो भूमध्य सागर
और अमेरिका के आसपास के समुद्रों में पाया जाता है । इसकी
कई जातियाँ और प्रकार होते हैं ।
