Optical diffusion

Diffusione ottica

In physics, optical diffusion, scattering in English, refers to a wide array of phenomena in which waves or particles are deflected due to collision with other particles or waves. Deflection occurs in a disordered and fairly random way and for this reason diffusion differs from reflection and refraction, which instead changes the trajectories in a regular and determined manner. Scattering processes are considered only elastic or almost elastic interactions, that is, do not involve significant deliveries or gains of energy. The diffusion or dispersion that we are talking about here has nothing to do with thermal diffusion or chromatic dispersion. A ray of light strikes a particle and is diffused in all directions ...
