Drygant

Drygant

Drygant, mistakenly called sometimes Trunk - a long and forested ridge ending at the south side of the Batory Tower in the Slovak Tatra Mountains. It stretches from the southern slopes of the Extreme Bowl to the Szczyrb Lake; Its south end is encircled by the Freedom Road and the electric railway. Drygant ridge together with Granary Baszt separates Mięguszowiecka Valley from the Młynówka Valley. Drygant is a powerful morainic mound glaciated by the glaciers that once filled the Młynice and Mięguszowieckie Valley. At an altitude of about 1500 m its ridge forms a vast, flat terrace overgrown with a low forest. The name is derived from the word drygant meaning in the Slovakian dialect of a large horse, Drygant ridge is like the back of a horse. The drygant slopes on the western slopes were taken in 1935 from Szczyrb Lake to Poprad's Pond. It leads high above the bottom of the Mięguszowiecka Valley, keeping approximately 1500 m high. Prowadzi on wysoko ponad dnem Doliny Mięguszowieckiej, trzymając się mniej więcej wysokości 1500 m n.p.m.
