Meaning of "ethernet" in the Polish dictionary

Ethernet - a technique in which standards are used to build local computer networks. This includes the specifications of the wires and the signals they transmit. Ethernet also describes the frame format and protocols from the two lowest layers of the OSI model. Its specification is given in the IEEE 802 standard. Ethernet is the most popular standard in local area networks. Other specifications are Token Ring, FDDI, and Arcnet. Ethernet was developed by Robert Metcalfe at Xerox PARC, a research center of Xerox, and published in 1976. It is based on the idea of nodes connected to the common medium and sending and receiving special messages through it. All nodes have a unique MAC address. Classic Ethernet networks have four common features. These are: ▪ time parameters, ▪ frame format, ▪ transmission process ▪ basic rules for their design. The standard is insulation with a minimum strength of 250 V ~ between the cable and the computer.
