Ariadne

Ariadne or Ariadne, according to the Greek mythology, is the daughter of Minos, king of Crete and Parsífae, queen of Crete. He fell in love with Theseus when he was sent to Crete voluntarily as a sacrifice to the Minotaur who inhabited the labyrinth built by Daedalus and so well designed that whoever ventured for him could no longer go out and was devoured by the Minotaur. Theseus decided to face the monster. He went to the renowned Oracle of Delphi to find out if he would emerge victorious. The Oracle told him that he should be helped by love to defeat the minotaur. Ariadne, the daughter of King Minos, told him that he would help him if he took her to Athens to marry him. Theseus recognized the only chance of victory there and accepted. Ariadne then gave him a sword and a ball of thread, so he could find the way back, from which he would hold one end. Theseus came out victorious and departed back to his land with Ariadne, though his love for her was not the same as hers for him.
